Chapter 273 All Illusions

Hu Shen frowned slightly, his deep eyes revealing worry.

Seeing Su Tang's attack and the obvious killing intent in her eyes, he raised his hand to block the dagger and snatched it away.

"Ah Tang, don't you recognize me? I'm Hu Shen!"

Hu Shen raised his voice, seemingly trying to bring Su Tang back to her senses.

He rushed over from Wanshou Mountain, only to find that the road to Su Tang's place was blocked by a landslide, so he had to take a long detour.

Unexpectedly, halfway there he saw Ah Tang in the forest, waving a dagger at the air, talking to someone he didn't recognize.

The deep, powerful voice reached Su Tang's ears, and she was slightly taken aback.

"Hu Shen? Are you really Hu Shen?"

"Yes, Ah Tang, what happened to you just now?" Seeing that Su Tang had regained consciousness, Hu Shen breathed a sigh of relief, then nodded firmly and asked with concern.

"I... a huge python just coiled around me, and I was fighting it off..."

Where are the snakes?

"It's the one who's been clinging to me..."

Su Tang noticed Hu Shen's questioning gaze and looked down.

She was stunned.

There was no giant python at all; her body was covered in dense vines that wrapped around her neck, making it look as if she was about to be eaten by the vines.

There were still marks from a dagger on her largest vine.

Su Tang was dumbfounded. What was going on?

"I just clearly saw a python, and that python could even transform into your appearance..."

After Su Tang finished speaking, she quickly realized, "So what I just saw was all an illusion?"

No wonder it didn't react no matter how she tried to stab it with the "snake" technique; it wasn't a snake at all!

Hu Shen tore off all the vines from her body, and the broken vines fell to the ground, piling up into a small heap.

“There are many plants in the forest that can cause orcs to hallucinate,” he explained. “Are you alright?”

"I'm not hurt, but you almost hurt me just now, I'm sorry." Su Tang shook her head, feeling guilty as she thought about how she had tried to stab Hu Shen's eyes.

Hu Shen stared intently at Su Tang's neck and wrists, which were red from being strangled, while the vines beneath his feet were quickly crushed into powder.

Now that she was certain that Hu Shen wasn't a fake, Su Tang didn't have time to ask him what he was doing there. She turned to look for Su Jianyuan and Si Bao.

Turning around, she saw Su Jianyuan, Niu Li, Da Qing, and Si Bao also entangled in vines, not far behind her.

The group seemed to be hallucinating as well, muttering incantations and waving their claws to attack the vines that were binding them.

Su Tang: "..."

Was she really that silly just now?

“They’re fine, don’t worry, we just need to wake them up,” Hu Shen said.

Su Tang nodded, stepped forward and hugged Si Bao, who was biting the vine and refusing to let go, and used a dagger to cut the vine apart for it.

“Sibao, it’s Mother. Mother is here. There’s no danger…”

Sibao stopped biting, her eyes cleared, and she threw herself into Sutang's arms.

"It's alright, it's alright..."

Su Tang quickly comforted it, stroking its fur with both hands.

Yingjie, who had caught up with Hushen, saw Niu Li and went over to him, punching him twice in the chest.

Niu Li was shouting in a struggle, his eyes closed, his hands gripping the vines in front of him.

"Yingjie, I treated you like a brother, and you actually tried to eat me alive? You're a real scoundrel..."

Yingjie's face darkened, and he slapped him on the head again, "Stupid ox, open your eyes and look."

Niu Li's voice stopped abruptly.

He opened his eyes and saw Yingjie standing next to him.

Yingjie is acting normally, unlike before when he was opening his blood-red mouth as if to devour him.

He turned to look at his hands and realized he was holding a handful of vines, so he immediately let go.

"Yingjie, what just happened? How could you..."

"You stupid ox, what you just saw was an illusion!"

Yingjie gave an impatient explanation, but deftly tore off all the vines binding Niu Li.

After comforting Sibao, Su Tang saw Hu Shen go to rescue Su Jianyuan, so she got up to help Da Qing.

Su Jianyuan blushed as he looked at something, and when he opened his eyes, he saw Hu Shen, a grown man, standing in front of him.

"What...what just happened to me? Hu Shen, what are you doing here..."

He paused for a moment, a hint of embarrassment in his eyes.

Just as Hu Shen was about to explain, he saw that Su Tang had just cut the vines that were entangled with the big green vine, and the big green vine opened its arms to hug Su Tang.

His face darkened, and he strode forward, standing between the two.

Daqing immediately hugged Hushen.

He wailed and cried, still unaware that the hallucination had ended. "You old geezer, weren't you dead? How could I see you? Waaah, am I dead too...?"

"I don't want to die! What will happen to Uncle Tang and Aunt Tang if I die? I still want to learn farming from Uncle Tang. What am I going to do..."

Hu Shen said with a dark face, "You're not dead, you're alive and well."

Daqing opened his eyes in surprise upon hearing the sound.

Huh? When did his old man get so tall? He even looks younger now.

Do orcs revert to their younger form after they die?

Just as I was wondering, I heard a cold voice say, "How much longer do you want to hug me?"

Hu Shen rarely showed any emotional fluctuations, but at this moment his eyes were filled with deep melancholy.

He knew that Daqing was still hung up on Atang; if he hadn't reacted quickly enough, Daqing would have already taken her into his arms.

Daqing then saw Hu Shen's face clearly and stepped back in shock.
