Chapter 423 Persuading Su Shiwei

"No! We don't have any!" Lin Shanyue hurriedly waved her hand.

"Then why did you come here? If you don't explain clearly, the Beast Mountain will not let you leave. Orcs will kill intruders on the spot. You are already lucky."

Su Shiwei said without blushing or skipping a beat.

He had no idea how orcs treated invaders; he wasn't a native orc.

Lin Shanyue had a sudden inspiration, and her face showed a glimmer of hope: "Can you help me explain to the Beast King? We really didn't mean to trespass, and I can apologize."

Su Shiwei's expression remained indifferent. "You can tell me."

Hope ignited in Lin Shanyue's eyes.

“A tribe was about to attack our tribe, so my father sent me out. The people of that tribe have been chasing us ever since. We had no choice but to cross the snow-capped mountains and come to the territory of the beastmen. I have no intention of disturbing you. If you can release me and my people, I will be eternally grateful.”

Su Shiwei's eyes flickered as she looked at the other person's dark, oily face and the tightly clenched, red, and cracked fingers.

I suppose she wasn't lying.

If there weren't people chasing me, why would I have traveled all this way, enduring hardships to get here?

For humans, the orcs' territory is not a good place.

He could hardly imagine how this petite girl had managed to persevere all the way.

Seeing that Su Shiwei was looking at him without saying anything, Lin Shanyuan's cheeks felt a little hot. This beastman was really good-looking, and his voice was not as rough as other beastmen.

"When...when can you go and explain things to your Beast King for me?" Lin Shanyue asked softly.

Su Shiwei raised an eyebrow. "When did I say I was going to help you?"

Lin Shanyue froze on the spot, looking at Su Shiwei's slightly upturned lips, and a surge of anger rushed to her head.

"You! You're playing me?!"

"I never agreed to anything; I just wanted you to say it." Su Shiwei crossed her arms and looked at the angry girl in front of her with amusement.

When she gets angry, he wants to soothe her, but after soothing her, he wants to tease her until she gets angry again.

Su Shiwei recalled that when he fed the stray cats, he didn't include the second half.

Lin Shanyue was furious.

She knew it! She knew the beastmen were all bad!

How could she be so foolish as to trust a beastman!

Lin Shanyue gritted her teeth, and just as she was about to fight Su Shiwei to the death, Su Shiwei said again:

"I'm not playing you. I didn't promise to help you, but I didn't say I wouldn't either. Perhaps you could tell me what benefits I would get from helping you?"

Tangtang couldn't get anything out of the humans, but he thought this easily agitated kitten was a good starting point.

Lin Shanyue was taken aback, and then her face turned ugly.

She knew this beastman had ulterior motives; she knew he wasn't so kind! She never imagined beastmen could be so treacherous and cunning!

Even so, she had no other choice; he must have seen through that.

"How can I trust you?" Lin Shanyue asked through gritted teeth, her face ashen.

"I don't need to convince you to believe me; believe it or not is up to you." Su Shiwei leaned lazily against the wall.

Even though he didn't get close, Lin Shanyue was filled with hatred.

No one likes being molded by everyone, but she had no choice. She was in a vulnerable position and could only turn to the other party for help.

She only had this one choice.

After another moment of silence, just when Su Shiwei thought this flustered little cat was about to try a different approach, she unexpectedly spoke up.

“Our tribe has salty sand, which is what you beastmen call white stone. If you make the Beast King release us, I can give you lots and lots of salty sand.”

Lin Shanyue clenched her fists and stared intently at Su Shiwei's face.

"Salty sand?" Su Shiwei raised an eyebrow in surprise. He already knew about the destruction of White Stone Lake, which was exactly what Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain needed now.

"Where does your salt sand come from?" Su Shiwei asked.

After saying that, looking at Lin Shanyue's somewhat red eyes, he added another explanation.

"We won't take away your resources. We can exchange them for supplies from the Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain. I just want to confirm whether what you're saying is true or false."

Lin Shanyue knew that even if she wanted to take it, she couldn't.

So they decided to give up and stop hiding it.

“We made it ourselves. Our tribe has a lot of it. I know your beastmen are short of it. If you release us, I can give you a lot of salty sand.”

Su Shiwei looked at her resolute expression, but still managed to keenly catch a hint of uncertainty in her eyes.

He chuckled lightly and said, "Haven't you already escaped here? Can your words represent the human race?"

A hint of embarrassment flashed across Lin Shanyue's face. She immediately straightened her back and said matter-of-factly:

"So, you have to help me get back to the tribe."

“Your beastmen are powerful, so attacking human tribes should be easy for you. I need your help. As long as you defeat the humans who invaded my tribe, I can provide you with as much salt sand as you want.”

Lin Shanyue tried her best to appear calm.

The hands hidden in the wide sleeves clenched uncontrollably, and sweat seeped from their palms.

She knew that death was the only outcome, and with her fleeing for her life, returning to save her father was harder than climbing to heaven. If she could avenge her father through the beastmen, she felt it would be worth it.

She lived so hard, wasn't it all to avenge her father and her people?

Su Shiwei was quite interested, but she still said in a nonchalant tone:

"The beastmen have never had a precedent of exchanging with the humans. Besides, it would be easier for us to just go and exchange with the sea creatures instead of going through all this trouble."
