Daqing nodded, his expression nonchalant. "Yes, Atang, you eat. If it's not enough, I'll go catch more. There are plenty of these kinds of prey. From now on, I'll take care of all your prey!"
He patted his chest, speaking as casually as if he were playing house.
Su Tang: "..." You make it sound so easy, it makes me think that hunting is a very simple thing.
"My goodness, what did this cow eat to grow so big... It must have taken a lot of effort to catch it!"
Su Guodong stepped forward in amazement and touched the black ox's hide, muttering to himself.
He'd lived two lives and never seen such a big cow before!
Lin Xia slapped Su Guodong's hand away, looking disgusted. "Look at you, so pathetic. Have you never eaten beef before? Hey, Daqing, right? Is your thatched hut spacious enough? If it's not big enough, have your older brother build you a new one..."
The two of them chatted back and forth, unable to look away from the black bull.
Xiao Fu was stunned. Standing next to the cow's leg, he lay down and compared the length of the cow's leg to his own. It was taller than him!
How long will it take to finish this?!
He didn't think there was anything wrong with wandering orcs; even the orcs of the Gray Wolf Tribe weren't this powerful!
In just a few days, Xiao Fu's worldview has been refreshed countless times. Now, even if you told him that his sister's partner is the most powerful orc on the continent, he would believe it.
Su Jianyuan had already witnessed Da Qing's strength, but he was still surprised to see him catch his prey so quickly.
Seeing the whole family gathered around Daqing and Heiniu, Su Jianyuan, feeling neglected, looked aggrieved.
This kid actually stole his position in the family as soon as he arrived. No way, he can't let this kid get cocky!
"It's just a cow. I'll go hunting tomorrow with my weapons, and I'll catch my prey just the same! Just wait and see the power of my weapons!"
Su Jianyuan crossed his arms, snorted coldly, and loudly boasted.
"How should we cook this beef? Boil it or grill it? Oh well, let's have a little of both. It's all bland anyway. We'll have to figure out a way to store the extra, otherwise it'll go bad..."
“Mother, keep the cowhide. We don’t have any shoes. We can make a few pairs of shoes out of the cowhide another day, and also make a few pairs of gloves for Father, Brother, and Daqing so they won’t get chafed while working.”
"Wow! My daughter is the one who knows how to care for me!"
Su Tang and the others surrounded the black ox, chattering amongst themselves as they began discussing how to divide it.
Completely ignored, Su Jianyuan: "..."
"I said, did you hear me?"
"Oh, right, let's leave a few cow bones for the calves to gnaw on; they're teething right now," Su Tang continued, making plans.
"I'll keep the ox horns; they'll look nice as decorations on the wooden house," the taciturn Su Shiwei chimed in.
Su Jianyuan's face darkened.
I can't stay in this house any longer!
The group then busied themselves slaughtering the cow. Lin Xia and Su Guodong's attitude towards Da Qing softened considerably, and they even refused his request to help, telling him to rest.
Daqing finally got his wish and rolled around in his thatched hut. The already flimsy hut immediately collapsed, scattering straw all over the ground.
Su Tang was naturally not qualified to be present at such a bloody scene and was ordered by her mother to stay home.
With nothing to do, she suddenly remembered that there was a hen at home.
"I wonder if the pheasants have laid any eggs yet..."
The chicken coop was placed between the straw shed and the open space, so that the pheasant droppings wouldn't suffocate them.
Su Tang went to the chicken coop to check on the pheasants. Xiao Fu was also curious whether the pheasants kept in captivity would lay eggs, so he followed Su Tang around like a little tail.
The two walked to the chicken coop, but there was no sound from inside.
"Strange, could it have died?" Su Tang wondered. She had fed it some corn kernels today, and the pheasant wasn't injured. It couldn't have died, could it?
Xiao Fu climbed over a meter high to the side of the chicken coop and peered inside.
"Sister, it's there, it's in the corner!"
He excitedly pointed to the corner, then suddenly changed his tone, saying strangely:
"Huh? Where did this pheasant's feathers go...?"
Su Tang looked in the direction he was pointing and saw a bald pheasant huddled behind a clump of weeds, burying its head in its featherless wings in a withdrawn manner.
"???"
Where did this hairless monster come from?
Seemingly sensing Su Tang's gaze, the trembling pheasant raised its head, looking depressed.
"Who plucked all my pheasant feathers?!" Su Tang turned around and asked through gritted teeth.
No wonder she didn't hear any pheasant movement today. She was wondering if she was feeding it the wrong thing, which is why pheasants don't lay eggs. It would be a miracle if they were still willing to lay eggs after being plucked naked!
Hearing Xiao Fu and Su Tang's voices from not far away, Su Jianyuan immediately sensed something was wrong. He quickly grabbed a handful of wooden arrows with feathers tied to them and tiptoed towards the river.
After taking only a couple of steps, he quickened his pace and jogged, calling out as he went, "Mother, I'm here to help you slaughter the cow!"
...
The cubs won't have any wild eggs to eat for the time being, but Nini the wolf brings them wolf milk on time.
"A-Tang, are you alright? Did that wandering orc do anything to you?" Wolf Nini pulled Su Tang aside while delivering milk and asked in a low voice.
In her mind, wandering orcs were just as terrifying as wild beasts.
Living with the wandering orcs is like putting your life on the edge of a cliff; you could fall and be smashed to pieces at any moment.
"That's good. He can still hunt, so you don't need to worry about me." Su Tang told Lang Nini about Da Qing bringing back a big black bull.
Wolf Nini was still worried. She felt that Ah Tang was too naive and kind, which was why she took in the stray beastman.
