Wolf Qi's expression changed; it was too late to stop him.
"Hunting what?" the male scoffed, mercilessly exposing him. "He doesn't go hunting in the forest at all. He just wanders around outside the tribe every day."
Wolf Nini looked on incredulously.
“How could that be?” She looked at Lang Qi. “Didn’t you say you went hunting every day? It’s just that hunting is too difficult, that’s why you haven’t caught any prey.”
How could Lang Qi admit it? He hurriedly explained:
"Nini, don't listen to their nonsense! How could I do that? Even if I go without food and water myself, I wouldn't let you and the cubs go hungry. They're just trying to slander me, Nini, don't believe them!"
The male standing to the side looked at Wolf Qi with utter disdain.
They didn't say anything before because those things had nothing to do with them, and they didn't want to provoke Lang Qi and get themselves into trouble.
Now that they know Lang Qi is letting such a treasure go unappreciated, they certainly won't hide it from Lang Nini anymore.
Seeing that Wolf Nini didn't immediately believe them, they weren't in a hurry and said to Wolf Nini:
"Wolf Nini, if you don't believe me, just ask any male and you'll know."
"Exactly! This guy sleeps in outside the tribe every day and never goes hunting. Do you see any male hunter in the tribe who can go for days on end without bringing back a single prey?"
"Everyone saw it, Wolf Nini, you've been fooled by Wolf Qi all along!"
The males all chimed in, and Wolf had no chance to refute them.
His face grew paler and paler.
These damn guys, why are they all so talkative today!
Seeing so many males saying the same thing, even if Wolf Nini was an idiot, she knew it was true.
She looked at Lang Qi with a disappointed expression.
No wonder Wolf Qi has been leaving early and returning late lately, yet he hasn't brought back a single hair. No wonder he kept refusing when I tried to go with him to pick fruit in the forest!
It turns out he'd been lying to himself all along!
"Why? Wolf Qi, why did you lie to me?" Wolf Nini couldn't help but ask Wolf Qi. "I never asked you to catch prey. If you didn't want to hunt, you could have told me. Why did you lie to me?"
She assumed he worked very hard every day, and when he came back empty-handed, she didn't dare say a word, for fear that Lang Qi would hear it and damage his confidence.
She didn't understand why Wolf Qi was doing this.
“Nini, it’s not like that, let me explain…” Lang Qi shook his head, but he was speechless.
He could only vent his anger on other males.
He raised his fist and punched the male who had initially exposed him in the face.
"I told you not to talk back! What business is it of yours what I do with Wolf Nini!"
It's all because of these gossipy males; if it weren't for them, Wolf Nini would never have known about this.
Wolf Qi was completely unaware that there was anything wrong with him.
The male, having been punched for no reason, glared angrily at Wolf Qi and, unable to contain himself any longer, said:
"You bastard, Wolf Qi, I haven't even settled scores with you yet, and you're already getting cocky, huh?!"
He stepped forward and kicked Lang Qi in the crotch, then knelt on the ground and began punching Lang Qi in the face from both sides, cursing as he did so.
"You were the one who told me that Wolf Nini was frail and would die before she could give birth to her cubs, just like her mother. If you hadn't said that, I would have pursued Wolf Nini long ago!"
"I think you're just trying to trick me, deliberately trying to possess Wolf Nini!"
"I haven't even confronted you about this yet, and you still dare to be arrogant? I'll beat you to death!"
Finding a mate is a big deal for males.
If it weren't for Lang Qi's interference, he might have already won over Lang Nini, and the cub she's having now would be his.
This is an absolute and unforgivable enmity!
"W-what did you say?" Wolf Nini was startled again upon hearing this.
She looked at Lang Qi in shock, "You were the one who spread those messages back then?"
How could this be!
Wolf Qi was completely stunned by the beating and could no longer hear what the male and Wolf Nini were saying, let alone answer Wolf Nini.
The other males exchanged glances upon hearing this.
"That's what Wolf Qi told me too..."
"And me, he said the same thing to me too!"
"That damn Wolf Qi! We've all been fooled by him! Let's beat him up!"
The males immediately realized that all of them had been tricked by Wolf Qi!
The thought of missing out on such a good female because of Lang Qi enraged them, and they immediately joined the group that was beating Lang Qi up.
Wolf Qi was beaten so badly that he howled repeatedly.
Seeing that all the males said the same thing, Wolf Nini immediately understood, but felt somewhat unable to accept this fact.
It turns out that the male she had been so devoted to was the culprit who caused her to be looked down upon by the orc tribe!
Wolf Qi was almost beaten to a pulp when the males finally vented their anger.
They are not allowed to kill people in the tribe; it violates the tribe's rules and will be punished by the chief.
With a bruised and swollen face, Wolf Qi crawled to Wolf Nini's feet. "Nini, I know I was wrong. I did this because I love you so much. I just wanted to be your partner. I didn't mean to..."
He wanted to continue deceiving Wolf Nini.
Wolf Nini is a very weak female, and also very soft-hearted. As long as you bow your head and admit your mistake, she will definitely forgive you without hesitation.
He had been completely fooling Wolf Nini all along.
But now, Nini has finally come to her senses and finds his words utterly ridiculous.
Looking back now, she thinks she was a fool!
"Enough!"
