This body isn't very tall, only a little over 1.6 meters, which is considered short among female orcs.
Orcs are generally tall. Da Qing looks thin, but he is not short. He is nearly 1.9 meters tall and looks like a telephone pole among his family.
Even Su Shiwei and Su Jianyuan are not as tall as Da Qing.
"Mother, we're back!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than Xiao Fu's voice came from behind.
Su Tang turned around and saw that it was Su Jianyuan and Xiao Fu who had returned after checking the traps.
Su Jianyuan was carrying a rabbit weighing about ten pounds in his hand, and the excitement he had shown when he caught his prey was gone from his face.
Xiao Fu followed behind empty-handed.
"Why are you back so early? Didn't you just go out at noon?"
Su Tang asked with a puzzled look.
The sun hasn't set yet; it's only a little past four o'clock.
Even if we don't hunt today, just checking and restoring the traps will take until sunset before we can get back.
Su Jianyuan sighed, but before he could speak, Xiao Fu behind him explained first.
"The traps didn't catch much prey, just a rabbit. Second Brother said we won't rely on traps anymore; we'll use weapons to hunt."
He was excited and full of anticipation for the hunt, showing no displeasure at having only caught one rabbit that day.
Su Tang looked at Su Jianyuan, who nodded.
"The wild animals here are too clever. We didn't trigger many traps today, and several that were triggered didn't catch any prey. They probably all know they're traps."
Su Jianyuan was somewhat discouraged.
It must be said that the animals of this ancient continent do possess some intelligence; in several of the triggered traps, the bait had vanished without a trace.
He quickly perked up and said earnestly:
"Relying on traps alone won't be enough. I've set up a few more traps. We'll start hunting tomorrow; we can't just guard the traps."
He didn't want to have to rely on luck to get meat in the future.
Su Tang also thought it made a lot of sense. "I think it's a good idea. We should hunt in different places. I'm afraid that if we keep hunting in one place, we'll eat all the wild animals in the area."
As a modern, model youth, she still retains an awareness of protecting wild animals.
Eating them is simply for survival; there's no need to exterminate them.
If this were modern times, with the animal skins they wear and the prey they eat, they'd probably have enough to last them a lifetime in prison.
"Of course," Su Jianyuan nodded in agreement.
When Su Guodong and the other two finished their work and returned, Su Jianyuan explained his plans to them.
The three of them naturally agreed, unanimously believing that this simple-minded kid had finally shown some foresight.
Even a rabbit is meat, so Lin Xia immediately killed the rabbit, skinned and cleaned it, and prepared a pot of tasteless rabbit soup.
Su Tang and the others weren't picky eaters; they ate whatever was available.
She still has corn and apples on her farm, so she won't starve for a while.
Only Su Jianyuan was very dissatisfied with this rabbit.
"Little sister, there's only this much meat today. Just bear with it for now. I'll go hunting again tomorrow and bring back the biggest ones," Su Jianyuan assured Su Tang.
One rabbit isn't even enough for his sister and the wolf cubs to share.
If conditions weren't so tough right now, he wouldn't even dare to bring a rabbit home.
Su Tang felt that her second brother had a mysterious obsession with hunting, so she quickly explained:
"One rabbit is enough to eat, and we won't go hungry eating fruit. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. It's okay if you can't catch one."
She was afraid that Su Jianyuan would become obsessed with hunting and go astray.
"That won't do." Su Jianyuan refused to listen to her. "I'm the only one in the family who can hunt now, so of course I have to shoulder this responsibility!"
Su Tang glanced at him.
Doesn't it sound like you're showing off?
No sooner had he finished speaking than a head popped out between the two of them.
"What are you talking about? What prey?"
Daqing finally managed to shift his attention away from his unique thatched hut and asked with a puzzled look.
"Tang, don't you have any prey to eat?"
Su Tang then remembered that there was now an extra mouth to feed in the family. She was wondering whether to ask Da Qing to help with the hunting tomorrow or to help with chopping wood and other chores when Da Qing saw Lin Xia processing the rabbit.
"So small?"
Su Jianyuan's face darkened, feeling insulted.
He was about to curse when Daqing turned to Sutang and said:
"A-Tang, wait for me, I'll go hunting for you!"
He knew this: males were meant to hunt for their mates, and if the mates went hungry, they would drive the males away.
He didn't want to be kicked out; he wanted to stay and live with them.
“No need, it’s late now, you…” Su Tang hadn’t finished speaking when she saw Da Qing run behind the tree.
The next moment, a blue eagle with red claws took flight from behind the tree and quickly disappeared into the sky.
The whole family was stunned.
"This kid... he's a man of action." Su Jianyuan said, staring blankly at the horizon.
Su Guodong instinctively worried, "It's almost dark, won't he get into trouble going hunting now?"
I've heard that forests are dangerous at night.
No matter what, it was still a living, breathing human being, and Su Guodong was still somewhat uneasy.
Lin Xia snorted coldly and pinched his waist:
"What could possibly happen? If Tangtang hadn't brought him back, he'd still be in the forest right now. He knows the forest better than you know your home. Why are you worrying so much? Take care of yourself first."
Su Guodong wanted to dodge but didn't dare, so he awkwardly shut his mouth.
“Mother is right. Let’s cook first. He’ll come back on his own if he can’t catch any prey,” Su Tang agreed.
None of them believed that Daqing could catch prey so late at night.
