Chapter Forty-Eight: The Little Cub Has Grown Teeth

Lin Xia snorted coldly, went to the thatched shed, took out the ugliest wild boar hide, and stuffed it into Da Qing's hands.

Then, thinking that Daqing probably didn't know what cleanliness was, he asked Su Shiwei to keep an eye on Daqing and not let him come back until he was clean.

Since we're going to live together anyway, even if we don't like it, we should at least make it more comfortable for our eyes.

Daqing looked puzzled. Why did he want to wash?

He was about to tell him he wouldn't wash, but then he suddenly remembered that other orcs said that males should listen to their partners after they have a partner, so he obediently nodded in agreement.

Su Shiwei took Daqing to the riverbank.

After all that trouble, half a day had already passed.

With the midday sun high in the sky, it was too late for Su Jianyuan to go hunting.

He then discussed with Su Tang that they would go hunting in the mountains together again tomorrow, and that they would go into the forest today to check if the traps had yielded any results.

Su Tang had no objections, since it was only a one-day postponement anyway.

She wasn't too comfortable leaving Daqing at home with her mother and the others.

Su Jianyuan pulled the frowning Xiao Fu along to check the trap.

Only Su Tang, her parents, and their five sleeping cubs remained at home.

"Mom, are you hungry? I'll go to the farm and get some corn. How about we roast some corn?"

Su Tang affectionately took Lin Xia's hand and said.

She knew her mother was in a bad mood, so she could only try to please her.

Lin Xia knew perfectly well what her daughter was thinking.

Now that she has agreed, she will not object anymore. As long as her daughter is not hurt, she is willing to support her daughter no matter what.

Although she really wanted her daughter to do things her way, what difference would that make from raising a pet?

Instead of trying to control her, it's better to be her support and backup plan.

"Go, go, take out more. It will be harder to take them when that wandering orc comes back, so we don't have to carry them back again and again."

Lin Xia poked Su Tang's forehead with her index finger, sounding annoyed.

"Okay! Mom, I'll go right away." Seeing that her mother wasn't angry anymore, Su Tang smiled and agreed.

Upon entering the farm, we took out some apples and corn, filling two large baskets with each.

Previously, every time I took something out of the farm, it was when Xiao Fu wasn't around.

Now that there's another big green one, getting things out is even more troublesome.

Su Tang thought about it and realized that it was because her current living conditions were too basic, and there wasn't even a sheltered storage area.

It seems that building a wooden house is still very necessary. We can only pray that my brother will build it soon.

Su Tang placed the basket next to the straw shed.

This is Xiao Fu's habit. Food is as precious as gold in the eyes of orcs, and it must be placed in the safest place, closest to them.

Su Tang only takes out as much sugar as she wants, since there's not much anyway, so she just lets Xiao Fu have her way.

She has to adapt to local customs, otherwise she'll be exposed.

After she put her things away, she suddenly realized that the cubs in the nest were gone.

Su Tang was startled. Wasn't the cub just here?

I looked around but didn't see any cubs. Instead, I found a pile of green bud fragments at the bottom of the basket.

Su Tang paused for a moment, then picked up the crumbs with her fingers, rubbing them together with her index finger and thumb. There were still some yellow bits mixed in.

Upon closer inspection, the corn that was perfectly fine a moment ago had been gnawed with several holes.

"Are there rats stealing food from the farm too?"

Su Tang squatted down and picked up the corn with several holes in it, looking puzzled.

I was wondering about that.

My gaze shifted, and suddenly a fluffy white tail appeared on the corn in the basket in front of me.

Its tail tip curved into a small hook and swayed up and down.

"Crunch, crunch..."

The soft, munching sounds came from there.

Su Tang squinted and looked closer. She saw that there was a large gap between the corn cobs, and a baby corn was struggling to squeeze into it.

Pull out the corn that was blocking the way and rescue the baby corn.

Su Tang then discovered that there was another one inside.

They rescued a second one, then a third, a fourth...

Su Tang: "..." Are you guys mice?! You're so good at burrowing!

With a helpless expression, she pulled all five cubs out and put them back in the nest.

I just breathed a sigh of relief.

The cub looked up with a bewildered expression, its five pairs of glass-bead-like beast eyes staring innocently at Su Tang. Its originally snow-white, fluffy little face had now turned pale yellow.

After being covered in a layer of dust on the ground, it looked like it had just eaten a mouthful of shit.

They stared at each other silently for a few seconds.

Su Tang looked up, her fingers gripping her scalp, staring at the sky with a look of utter despair.

In the short time it took to turn my head, how did these cubs get themselves into this state!

Su Tang resignedly fetched a basin of water and used it to wash the downy fur off the cub's face. It took a lot of effort to finally remove the yellowish-brown layer.

Only the downy hair around its mouth still retained a trace of pale yellow.

The kitten was still wet after being wiped, its fur drooping down, looking like a pitiful little tabby cat.

If the fur remains damp for a long time, the cubs will develop ringworm.

There was no hairdryer here, so Su Tang could only drag the cubs' nest outside the straw shed and let the cubs sunbathe to dry their down.

To prevent the cubs from escaping and causing trouble again, Su Tang personally kept an eye on them.

Looking at the cub that had finally calmed down, she realized that the cub had started to grow teeth and was at the age when it was itchy and liked to gnaw on things.

They've only just started growing their baby teeth, and they're already causing so much trouble.

Su Tang suddenly had a bad feeling; she couldn't help but feel that these cubs weren't as cute and docile as they seemed on the surface.

But seeing them huddled together, sleeping peacefully, Su Tang fell into self-doubt again.

"Maybe I'm overthinking it. How much trouble can a few cats cause? I'll just keep a closer eye on them in the future."

Su Tang shook her head, putting the thought out of her mind.

Not long after.

Su Shiwei then returned.

There was a male following behind.

When Lin Xia saw Su Shiwei return, she looked at the male behind him with a puzzled expression:

"Second brother, didn't I tell you to take that wandering orc to get cleaned up? Why are you back first? Who is he?"

When did the second brother meet other orcs?

This male looks handsome with delicate features; he's quite pleasing to the eye.

Su Tang also looked over here, feeling that the male looked somewhat familiar.

When Su Tang saw the irregular bluish mark on his forehead, she couldn't help but blink to make sure she wasn't seeing things.

“Mother, he is Daqing,” Su Shiwei explained.

"What? He's Da Qing?"

Lin Xia stared wide-eyed, looking the male in front of her up and down, left and right, but she couldn't connect him with the slovenly, smelly big green dog from before.
