Chapter Sixty-Seven: Fruit Growing in the Soil

There are hardly any wild animals around the gray wolf tribe. Although the cubs are not allowed to go out on weekdays, how could they listen to orders? It's common for them to sneak out to play.

The orcs turned a blind eye; orc cubs weren't that delicate, and as long as there was no danger, they were left to their own devices.

Right now.

In the grove outside the gray wolf tribe.

Xiao Fu found a group of cubs who had sneaked out to play. Holding the jerky Lin Xia had brought him, he stood opposite the cubs for about ten minutes, but didn't take a step.

He swallowed hard.

What should he say as his first sentence?

Why do you say these little kids won't beat him up?

Socially awkward Xiao Fu had a tense face and was forcing herself to speak, so she could only stuff bites of jerky into her mouth to ease the embarrassment.

Meanwhile, the cubs on the other side were also completely bewildered, wanting to leave but not daring to.

They hadn't forgotten how badly Xiao Fu had beaten Lang Qing last time. Although Xiao Fu and his friends weren't afraid of them, his older brother and sister were terrifying!

Who knows if those two devils are secretly following us!

The group of cubs were both wary and dared not move.

And so, the two sides remained deadlocked, neither saying a word.

Before long, the cubs' eyes fell on the jerky in Xiao Fu's hand, and they were amazed.

He actually got to eat meat!

Meat is something you eat when you're eating a meal, so why is he holding it in his hand like he's eating grass?

The cubs were dumbfounded. Wasn't it said that Xiao Fu's family was very poor and couldn't afford meat at all, and that they needed Lang Kui to help them out?

Although they can afford meat, they are never full. They can only eat once a day, in the afternoon or evening, and they are only about 70-80% full. The cubs get hungry quickly, and the meat they ate last night has long been digested.

When they saw Xiao Fu eating dried meat, everyone stared in envy.

The dried meat has a faint smell, but the wolf-like beastmen have a keen sense of smell.

The cubs watched Little Fu's every move intently, their noses twitching incessantly, their mouths practically watering...

Half an hour later.

"Delicious! This jerky is really good..."

"Xiao Fu, your mother is amazing! She can actually cook meat like this!"

"I can't even chew it properly, the meat flavor is too strong!"

A group of cubs were each holding a few pieces of jerky, chewing them with gusto and praising them endlessly.

Actually, the dried meat has almost no flavor; it doesn't even have salt added. How delicious can it be?

They were all teething and starving, and jerky was both good for chewing and meat, so of course they thought it tasted good.

Xiao Fu looked at the cubs with a proud smile on his face.

"Of course! My mother is amazing; she cooks delicious food for us every day! Who else wants more? I still have some..."

He had barely finished speaking when he was surrounded by the cubs.

"I want!"

"I want one too!"

Xiao Fu, who was originally reluctant to give away even one piece of jerky, insisted on giving away all of it.

He eats three meals a day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening, so he's not hungry at all. But now, seeing the cubs' admiring and envious eyes, he's feeling quite smug and has completely forgotten what he said.

This was all thanks to the fact that he had just tripped and spilled the jerky, and a brave cub picked it up and shakily spoke to him.

Someone spoke first, and Xiao Fu followed suit with a reply.

This was the first step, and everything went smoothly afterward. Xiao Fu naturally distributed the dried meat.

Then came the scene we just witnessed.

The relationship between the cubs is really simple; a little bit of jerky is enough to make them all huddle together, completely forgetting their previous conflicts.

"Has anything happened in your tribe recently?" Xiao Fu glanced at the cub who was earnestly eating jerky and took the opportunity to ask, not forgetting his mission.

"There's so much!" The cubs all had their mouths stuffed with jerky, and one of the older cubs said indistinctly.

"Little Fatty's older sister gave birth to cubs, six in a litter! Brother Wolf Strong lost an arm while hunting, and then there's Daya's family..."

Without a second thought, the cubs began to gossip they had heard from their respective mothers.

The females in the tribe are also very gossipy. When they have nothing to do, they often gather together and chat about things in the tribe.

Xiao Fu was speechless; he had no desire to know any of this.

"Stop, stop, stop! Is there anything else?"

The cub looked puzzled. "What do you want to hear?"

Most of their news came from the females, since the orcs wouldn't tell the cubs anything.

Just as Xiao Fu was thinking about how to ask, one of the cubs suddenly cried out.

"I do know something important!"

Xiao Fu and the other cubs all looked at that cub.

The speaker was a chubby little boy, about five or six years old. All the other cubs were skinny, and he stood out as a fat boy among them.

Xiao Fu thought he looked familiar. After thinking for a while, he remembered that when he was beaten up last time, this chubby cub seemed to be standing next to Lang Qing, and they seemed to have a good relationship.

However, Lang Qing is not here today.

"Little Fatty, tell us quickly, what is it that we don't know?"

The cub beside him couldn't help but urge him on.

They were all a bunch of clueless kids. After eating Xiao Fu's jerky, they no longer treated Xiao Fu like an outsider.

They've already given them such precious dried meat, what else can't they tell Xiao Fu?

Hearing everyone urging him, the cub called Little Fatty finally spoke:

"Wolf Kui has found a fruit that can be stored for a long time. It was dug out of the ground. With this fruit, we'll have food to eat even during the snowy season..."
