Chapter Thirty-Nine: Could it be that his memory is faulty?

"It's finished already? We won't have to relieve ourselves in the woods anymore?" Lin Xia looked at the toilet, which had been built so quickly, and was still a little incredulous.

"It can't be used yet. We can only use it after Lang Qi finishes making and installing the squat toilet," Su Tang reminded her mother, telling her not to be too excited.

Whether Wolf can actually make that squat toilet is another matter!

Lin Xia didn't mind; the toilet was already built, and she could wait for the squat toilet.

Although they couldn't use it for the time being, the mother and daughter were still very excited.

"Wife, daughter, there are two toilets here. You two choose which one is the men's toilet and which one is the women's toilet?" Su Guodong asked Lin Xia ingratiatingly.

The men in the family naturally don't have the power to make this decision.

"Tangtang, you decide." Without thinking, Lin Xia turned to Su Tang and asked with a kind smile.

"Then let's have the women's restroom on the right and the men's restroom on the left," Su Tang thought to herself, just like in her rural hometown, so she wouldn't accidentally go to the men's restroom and make things awkward.

"Okay, then we'll do as Tangtang says." Lin Xia made up her mind immediately, her face beaming with joy.

This made them even happier than when they bought a new house and moved in.

There's no way around it, things you do yourself just aren't the same.

Seeing that the group had reached an agreement, Su Shiwei went to get a stone knife and carved the words "male" and "female" on the outside of the men's and women's restrooms respectively.

Even in the ancient continent, a sense of ritual is still necessary.

"Son, isn't it bad to carve these words? What if other beastmen see them and ask about them?" Su Guodong asked as he saw him carving the words.

"Orcs can't read, so who would care about this? Just say it's a symbol used for differentiation." Lin Xia didn't seem to care much.

Su Guodong thought about it and realized that it made sense. If there were people who could read, they would be people who had traveled through time like them, and they might even be able to find fellow villagers!

The family had been busy for most of the day and were all exhausted, so they returned to the thatched hut to drink water and rest.

Su Tang was thinking about the third type of fruit on the farm. After moving the cubs back to their nest, she went to the farm to pick corn and also checked if there were any new seeds available for purchase in the store.

Unfortunately, apart from corn seeds, there are still no new ones available in the store.

Su Tang had no choice but to leave the farm. It seemed that, like with apples, the seeds for this third type of fruit could only be found in reality.

However, although the forest is vast, finding an edible crop is not so easy.

Su Tang couldn't help but complain in her heart that all those female protagonists in novels who find food and herbs as soon as they step outside are lies!

Without some wilderness survival skills, surviving on this ancient continent is harder than climbing to heaven; the actual food you can find is extremely rare.

They have plenty of protein from insects, spiders, and mice, but they can't bring themselves to eat them, and they don't fill their stomachs at all.

Su Tang felt that in addition to solving the problem of quality of life as soon as possible, food also needed to be provided. They couldn't rely on her second brother to hunt for a living, nor could they eat only one type of food.

She was just about to discuss with her parents about going to the forest to find crop seeds when she saw that Su Jianyuan and Xiao Fu had returned ahead of time.

"Brother, why are you back so early today?" Su Tang asked, puzzled.

She glanced at the sky; it was still afternoon, around one or two o'clock. In the past, the two of them would only return when the sun was about to set.

Su Jianyuan was holding two gray rabbits in his hand, and Xiao Fu behind him was holding a pheasant with a broken leg.

"Son, your hunting skills are now superb! You caught prey so early." Su Guodong approached him happily when he saw the two big, fat rabbits in his hands.

Su Jianyuan showed no joy on his face and explained, "This was caught in a trap set yesterday."

Seeing his sullen face, Su Tang asked curiously, "Isn't it a good thing that a trap can catch prey? Why are you looking so worried, brother?"

In the past, her second brother would have been incredibly arrogant.

Why the sudden change of heart today?

"The prey that can be caught by traps is too small, and not every trap can catch prey. We can't rely on traps alone. I need to think of other ways to hunt."

Su Jianyuan glanced at Su Tang, mainly because he was provoked by the sika deer she had picked up; he no longer cared about the small prey.

"Besides, if this trap fails to catch any prey one day, we'll have nothing to eat."

Of course, it wasn't entirely due to his competitive nature.

Two rabbits and a pheasant weren't enough to feed their family of six for one meal.

If there's no meat one day, we'll still have to rely on fruit to survive.

As a man, how can I let my family go without meat?

"Brother, what's the rush? You won't starve to death if you skip a meal of meat. Don't put too much pressure on yourself," Su Tang comforted him.

She's a pretty easygoing person, and now that she has a farm to rely on, she doesn't think it's a problem if she can't catch prey.

Even if there's no meat to eat, there are other things to eat, aren't there?

Xiao Fu nodded repeatedly:

“Sister is right, this prey is enough for us to eat.”

In the past, Xiao Fu would never have dared to dream of living like this.

Alas! Even after my second brother became more diligent, he's also quite troubled!

Su Jianyuan, however, thought differently, shaking his head with a determined expression:

"No! I must catch my prey. Traps alone won't do; I also need a suitable weapon!"

He can't hunt like a leopard, but if he had weapons, things would be much easier.

Su Tang wanted to continue comforting Su Jianyuan, but Lin Xia shook her head at her:

"Forget it, let him be. He's always been like this since he was little, very strong-willed. Just ignore him."
