Chapter 102 Harvesting Prey and Wild Ferns

"Little one, what's wrong?" Wolf Nini looked at the cub with a strange expression.

Su Tang also looked down at the three wolf cubs.

Orc males are naturally more alert than females.

Even cubs possess innate talents that cannot be ignored.

The wolf cub looks so nervous, like it's about to attack. Is there some danger in the bushes?

Before Su Tang could figure it out, one of the largest wolf cubs let out a howl and charged out.

The other two wolf cubs stood in front of Su Tang and Lang Nini, adopting a defensive and protective posture, not moving an inch.

"Baby!"

Su Tang and Lang Nini were both startled, fearing that something might have happened to the little wolf cub.

The wolf cub that darted out grabbed something, shook its head violently, and rolled several times on the ground before the commotion subsided.

The two rushed forward, only to find that the wolf cub had already flattened the grass.

A large green snake, as thick as an arm, was being held firmly in the jaws of a wolf cub, right at its seven-inch mark.

The snake was nearly three meters long, its long body dragging on the ground. Half of it was wrapped around the wolf cub's belly, but now that it was dead, it had loosened its grip.

Su Tang was stunned; the wolf cubs were incredibly brave!

How could you catch such a big snake in just a few months?

She turned her head, about to speak to comfort Wolf Nini.

"It's a snake!" Wolf Nini exclaimed in surprise, walked over first, grabbed the snake's head, and lifted the big snake up.

"Little one, you're amazing! You actually caught the prey! You're so good!"

She couldn't help but praise the cub and patted its head to encourage it.

Seeing Lang Nini's excited face and shining eyes, Su Tang's words of comfort stuck in her throat.

I almost forgot how fierce the orcs are.

The wolf cub happily rubbed against Wolf Nini's hand, a proud expression on its face.

The other two wolf cubs looked on with envy; they also wanted to catch prey quickly so that their mother could have a full meal.

They all knew that their mother ate only fruit and never ate meat herself, so that she would leave all the meat for them.

We'll share half when we meet.

Wolf Nini plans to give half of the giant snake to Su Tang.

Su Tang shook her head, "This is the prey your cub caught, it's yours, you don't need to share it with me."

Her target was crop seeds, not prey.

Wolf Nini, however, did not think so. She believed that Su Tang had brought her good luck today, which allowed her to find both fruit and prey.

So even this giant snake has a share of Su Tang.

The wolf cub bit off about a third of the snake.

It took a third of the snake meat in its mouth, carried it to Su Tang, put it down, and wagged its tail vigorously.

He gestured for Su Tang to accept the snake meat.

The three wolf cubs stared longingly at Su Tang, their big, watery eyes conveying as if Su Tang's rejection was a knife that had slashed their hearts.

"Tang, just accept it," Wolf Nini said.

Today, their whole family benefited from Ah Tang's good luck; how could they monopolize the prey!

Su Tang had no choice but to accept it, thinking she would bring more fruit over at noon.

Wolf Nini's life is already so difficult, she can't take advantage of Wolf Nini any further, that would be too inhuman.

Although she wasn't human to begin with.

Seeing Su Tang put the snake meat into the basket, the three wolf cubs wagged their tails happily.

One serving for Mom, one serving for Aunt Sugar, and one serving for the three brothers—that's just right!

Wolf Nini, with a big smile on her face, put the remaining snake meat into the animal skin bag.

I had a very fruitful day!

It was still early, so the two decided to search a little longer.

The three wolf cubs were also in high spirits, and they wanted to see if there were any other prey!

After walking through the grass for a few more minutes, you will reach a hillside.

There weren't many tall trees on this side of the hill, just low shrubs, which instantly opened up Su Tang's view.

The morning sun was still warm, and it made Su Tang's hair feel warm.

Wolf Nini had no intention of staying, as there were hardly any fruits on the hillside.

When they reached the middle of the hillside, Su Tang stopped in her tracks!

On the sparse grass, many small plants, resembling curled pig tails, were scattered about, some green and some brown.

She suspected she was seeing things, so she quickly went over, squatted down, and pulled one out.

The plant in my hand has a thick and sturdy stem, and the entire petiole is upright. The tender leaves at the top have just sprouted and are curled up, just like a pig's tail.

That's right!

This is it!

A hint of joy flashed in Su Tang's eyes; she hadn't expected to find a second crop so quickly!

"A-Tang, that's just ordinary grass, not fruit, you can't eat it." Wolf Nini realized that Su Tang hadn't followed behind her, so she turned around and saw Su Tang squatting in the grass, holding a green blade of grass in her hand.

She thought Su Tang had mistaken grass for fruit.

Wolf-like orcs are carnivorous; only herbivorous orcs like sheep-like orcs eat these wild grasses.

They might eat some fruit, which, while not tasty, was better than weeds.

"This isn't a weed; it's an edible plant called bracken," Su Tang explained after hearing Lang Nini's words.

When I was a child in my rural hometown, my grandmother would often carry a small basket and pick wild ferns from the fields to eat.

Because of her father's work, her family rarely lived in the countryside, so Su Tang has very vivid memories of these times.

The more cherished a memory is, the more unforgettable it becomes.

"Bracken fern?" Wolf Nini heard this unfamiliar word for the first time.
