Chapter 46 Grandma's House
At midnight on the New Year's Eve, the sound of firecrackers could be heard in the village, from one house to another.
Not long after, Zhao Xiu also finished wrapping the dumplings. When the dumplings were about to be put into the pot, she asked Lin Wu to go out and set off firecrackers.
Zhao Xiu took one hand each of the sleepy brother and sister and pulled them out of the bed.
"Don't sleep yet. After you eat dumplings, you can sleep if you want."
Faced with their mother's absolute suppression by force, Lin Qian and Lin Shuo surrendered and resigned themselves to their fate by getting out of bed to wash their faces and brush their teeth.
"If I had known I would have to get up so early today, I wouldn't have played so late last night." Lin Shuo said regretfully.
Lin Qian asked, "What's the point of saying it now?"
After finishing the dumplings, Lin Wu asked, "Your mother and I are going to the village to pay New Year's greetings. Would you like to come with us?"
The two of them shook their heads listlessly, looking as if they were still sleepy.
Seeing the brother and sister like this, Lin Changcan said, "Just the two of you go. Let them go back to their room and get some more sleep. They look so sleepy that they can hardly open their eyes."
Lin Qian and Lin Shuo immediately stood up and said to Lin Changcan, "Thank you, Grandpa." Then they went back to the house to catch up on their sleep.
I slept until noon.
After lunch, Lin Qian went into Meng Yi's room and went to the acupuncture point on his back.
Just after reciting it for a while, someone in the yard suddenly called out, "Doctor Meng! Is Qianqian home?"
Lin Qian heard it and came out immediately. The man who came was a middle-aged man in his forties. He looked familiar and should be from Linjia Village.
"I'm Lin Qian. Is there anything I can help you with?" Lin Qian asked.
The uncle immediately said, "I'm your Uncle Fu. Is your master home? My father got up this morning and sprained his waist. Now his waist hurts so much that he can't even stand up, so I came to ask Doctor Meng to come over and take a look."
After hearing his words, Lin Qian nodded immediately and went to call Meng Yi out.
The master and his disciple followed Uncle Fu to his home.
Uncle Fu's father looked to be in his sixties, about the same age as Lin Changcan. At this moment, he was lying on the bed, crying out in pain.
Meng Yi reached out and touched his lower back, saying, "It's a pretty serious sprain. The lumbar spine is bulging a bit. I'll massage you later, then give you some acupuncture. I'll prescribe some medicine. Just rest in bed for a month and you'll be fine."
The old man nodded.
Meng Yi also took off his shoes and got on the kang, then patted the old man's waist, and later asked for a basin of hot water and a face towel.
Put the face towel in hot water, wring it out half dry, and use it to cover the old man's waist.
He took out the silver needle and gave the old man acupuncture through a face towel.
"Master! Can you tell where the degree is without looking? When can I be like you?" When Lin Qian saw Meng Yi's move, she was so surprised that her eyes almost popped out.
Meng Yi smiled and said, "It's simple. Practice makes perfect. When you can recite the teachings by heart, after millions of acupuncture sessions, you'll be almost there."
What Meng Yi said was difficult, but it just happened to arouse Lin Qian's competitive spirit. She said, "I understand. I will work hard."
The old man heard the conversation between the master and the apprentice and couldn't help but smile and said, "Your little apprentice is very motivated."
Meng Yi smiled and said nothing.
Meng Yi quickly removed the needle from the old man and wrote a prescription. The two of them left without charging any medical fees.
On the way home, Meng Yi asked Lin Qian, "Besides wanting to cure illnesses and save lives, what do you think of medicine?"
Lin Qian said excitedly, "I feel that medicine is a very difficult field. Every time I think I've reached the limit, Master will show me an even more vast and boundless world.
Every time at this time, I feel my hairs stand up in excitement, and I also want to reach your level."
Meng Yi looked back at Lin Qian, and after a long time, he suddenly burst into laughter.
"Master, what are you laughing at?"
Meng Yi laughed for a while, then heaved a sigh of relief and said, "I finally understand why I accepted you as my disciple."
Lin Qian was also very curious and asked, "Why?"
"Because you are very similar to me. In the past, I also thought the same about medical skills." Meng Yi said.
Meng Yi smiled, then his smile became a little bitter, and he patted Lin Qian's shoulder.
Lin Qian saw Meng Yi's smile, and then asked, "That's what I thought before, but what about now?"
"After that? This kind of thing can't be understood just by talking about it. You should experience it yourself." Meng Yi said.
Lin Qian didn't quite understand what Meng Yi said, but seeing that Meng Yi didn't want to say more, Lin Qian didn't want to ask any more questions and had to give up.
When they returned home, they found Lin Wu dismantling the pig that Fan Liu and the others had sent. Lin Qian asked, "Dad, isn't there enough meat at home? Why are you dismantling the meat again?"
Lin Wu wiped the sweat off his head and said, "Oh, tomorrow is the second day of the Chinese New Year, and your mother is going back to her parents' home, so I'll cut some meat and bring it to your grandma tomorrow."
Zhao Xiu's parents' home is in Zhao Laojia, not far from Linjia Village.
When their family was being bullied by Sun, Zhao Xiu's parents came to support their daughter several times.
Later, I helped them a lot, both openly and secretly.
Now that Zhao Xiu has taken over the other person's daughter's body, he should treat her as his own family and go and see her.
When Lin Qian and Lin Shuo traveled through time, perhaps because they were young, they didn't have many memories of the past.
However, Lin Wu and Zhao Xiu inherited most of their original bodies' memories.
"Oh, then you continue. I'm going back." Lin Qian said, and went back to the room to continue reciting the scriptures.
The next day, Lin Wu and the others said goodbye to Lin Changcan and drove a horse-drawn carriage to Zhao's home.
Lin Qian has two uncles and two aunts, and Zhao Xiu is the eldest.
When we arrived at Lin Qian's grandmother's house, we found that there were several ox carts parked in front of their house.
Lin Wu and Zhao Xiu went in carrying the meat and gifts they had brought. Zhao Xiu shouted as they walked, "Dad, Mom, I'm back!"
Soon a middle-aged woman in her forties or fifties walked out of the room. She was not tall and a little fat, but she was very pretty and had a surprised smile on her face.
"Xiu'er, you're back?" Grandma Lin Qian hurried over and looked Zhao Xiu up and down before taking the things from Zhao Xiu's hand.
"Dad! Xiu'er is back soon!" Grandma shouted into the house.
After a while, a tall and thin man in his fifties came out. He had a dark and thin face, a stern expression, and looked serious.
Seeing Lin Wu and Zhao Xiu, he immediately frowned and scolded: "You just came, but why did you bring so many things? When you go back later, your mother will torture my daughter again!" As he said this, his eyes turned red.
He looked down and saw Lin Shuo. He bent down and picked him up. He held Lin Qian's hand and walked into the house, ignoring Lin Wu.
Lin Shuo was stunned. Although he was only eight years old, he was already an adult inside. He felt a little ashamed to be hugged like this.
Lin Qian looked up at Lin Shuo and found that his face was almost stiff. She couldn't help but smile.
