Chapter 60: Deserved Punishment

Chapter 60: Deserved Punishment

Lin Qian and Lin Shuo had been watching in the dark and did not leave.

It was not until the county magistrate had the soil under the garden dug up, allowing the decayed bodies of the children to see the light of day, that Lin Qian and Lin Shuo turned and left, accompanied by the heart-wrenching cries of the adults.

The two men went straight back to the inn where they were staying, but when they entered, they found that there was no waiter in the lobby, not even the owner.

After going upstairs, Lin Qian and Lin Shuo stared in amazement at the group of people kneeling in front of Meng Yi's room.

"Master? What happened?" Lin Qian asked after opening the door, only to find Meng Yi lying on the bed and snoring soundly. He was sleeping so soundly that his saliva was flowing out.

The innkeeper said to Lin Qian with a sad face, "Little aunt, you are finally back. Please, ask your master to let us go! We really don't know where you two went last night."

It turned out that when Meng Yi got up this morning, he smelled the scent of knockout drugs in the house, and then he found that Lin Qian and Lin Shuo, brother and sister, were missing.

Combined with what Lin Qian said yesterday, Meng Yi believed that it was the shopkeeper who abducted Lin Qian and Lin Shuo.

He poisoned everyone in an inn and asked them to hand over Lin Qian and Lin Shuo.

The shopkeeper had no idea where Lin Qian and Lin Shuo had gone. No matter how much he tried to persuade Meng Yi, he just refused to give him the antidote. He also said that if he didn't see Lin Qian, everyone in the inn would be buried with them.

Lin Qian narrowed her eyes and asked, "Then why did you look at us with those weird eyes yesterday?"

The shopkeeper was almost in tears. He said, "Our Yongping Town is not peaceful. Children have been missing every day for three to five months. I saw him, an adult, taking care of you two. I was afraid that you two might be lost too, so I wanted to tell you.

But I'm also afraid that you will just leave without staying at the inn, as our inn has not been open for a long time.

You said you were only staying overnight, and I thought it would be fine, so I didn't tell you."

After hearing what the shopkeeper said, Lin Qian and Lin Shuo looked at each other. It turned out that this was the reason.

Lin Qian said, "I'm really sorry, my master has a strange temper. I'll ask them to help you detoxify, and we'll leave now."

The shopkeeper nodded rapidly, wishing he could let the three people leave his inn immediately.

Meng Yi woke up quickly and realized that he had misunderstood the shopkeeper. He immediately took out the antidote and apologized.

The shopkeeper nodded with a smile on his face, then sent the three of them away. As soon as they walked out of the inn, the shopkeeper slammed the door shut.

He almost pinched Lin Shuo's foot, but luckily he reacted quickly.

"Master, we can't stay here for long. They should leave quickly." Lin Qian's expression changed as soon as she left the inn. She urged Meng Yi to quickly ride on Xiao Lingdang.

Meng Yi didn't ask any questions and did as he was told.

After leaving Yongping Town, Lin Qian and the other two turned back and found an inn to stay in on the other side of the town.

Lin Qian was not going to leave before hearing Wei Hongye's verdict, and Lin Shuo had the same idea.

After knowing that Lin Qian and Lin Shuo had experienced so much in just one day, Meng Yi felt sorry for them.

"There are many such things in the world. When I was your age, I traveled with my father and saw such things.

But what I encountered was even bloodier and more brutal.”

Lin Qian and Lin Shuo were both intrigued and listened to his story attentively.

Meng Yi said: "The person we met was a man with asthma. His asthma was congenital, so there is no way to cure it. But he, like Wei Hongye, believed in folk remedies.

It is believed that eating fresh placenta can cure asthma.

So he attacked seven pregnant women who were eight months pregnant, killing them and removing their placentas by caesarean section.”

Hearing this, Lin Qian sighed. These people had obviously been tortured by the disease and had become mentally ill. Therefore, as long as there was a glimmer of hope that they could be cured, they would hold on tightly and refuse to let go.

The three of them waited in the inn for another four or five days and finally received Wei Hongye's verdict.

Tomorrow at noon, he will be executed by slow slicing at Caishikou!

Meng Yi was not interested in such a bloody scene, so he did not go to watch it, while Lin Qian and Lin Shuo went with the main group.

The people of Yongping Town requested that Wei Hongye's prison cart circle the city before being executed.

Along the way, countless stones and blades hit Wei Hongye, and behind him followed rows of funeral processions.

Each of them was in mourning, but not for Wei Hongye, but for their dead children. They wanted to see with their own eyes that Wei Hongye got what he deserved.

When he arrived at Caishikou, there was not a single healthy spot on Wei Hongye's body. Due to the scorching sun, he had many blisters on his body, which were still bleeding.

He lay in the prison van like a dead dog, unable to move, and was dragged out by two yamen runners.

His whole body was in a mess, but his eyes were scanning the people around him hungrily, and he even stuck out his tongue and licked his cracked lips.

Seeing him like this, many women screamed: "Devil! He is a devil!"

Soon Wei Hongye was tied to a pillar and executed. People listened to his heart-wrenching roars and looked at his greedy and hungry eyes that remained unchanged.

Lin Qian and Lin Shuo left.

"Sister, do you think he has ever regretted it?" Lin Shuo asked on the way.

"I don't know. We are not him, so how can we know what he thinks?"

At the city gate, Meng Yi was already waiting for them there on his little bell. Lin Qian and Lin Shuo looked at each other and ran over.

The three of them set off again and continued towards Yuzhou.

They walked like this for more than ten days without encountering any town, and the three of them slept in the wild every day.

Finally, on the fifteenth day, the three of them arrived at Hejian Prefecture. Once they entered Hejian Prefecture, they were not far from Yuzhou.

This time there were not so many troubles. They found an inn and after having dinner, Lin Qian and Lin Shuo went into the room, told Meng Yi that they wanted to have a good sleep, and locked the door.

Along the way, they had no time to practice in the space, so now they had to go to the hot springs and take a good soak when they had time.

Who knew that as soon as they entered the space, Lin Qian and Lin Shuo were dumbfounded.

Before, Lin Qian had looted so many medicinal herbs from Wei Hongye and put them all into the space. But when she entered the space this time, she found that there was not even a single medicinal herb left in the space.

What made Lin Qian and Lin Shuo dumbfounded was not this, but the fact that the space had changed drastically. Originally, there was only a wooden house and two springs, one cold and one hot.

But now, there is an extra acre of land in the space.

"Sister, has your space been upgraded?" Lin Shuo asked.

Lin Qian searched twice but couldn't find where all her medicinal herbs had gone, so she stood there staring at the acre of land in front of her.

"It seems like the space swallowed up all my medicinal herbs, and then grew an acre of land." Lin Qian said, the smile on her lips getting bigger and bigger.

Seeing her like this, Lin Shuo was a little worried: "Sister, please don't smile so fiercely, what if you get a cramp later?"

Lin Qian ignored him. Her mind was now full of thoughts about what medicinal herbs to plant in the space.
