Chapter 111 Dealing with the Prey (2/2)

Even though Sheng Yi worked very quickly, it was still pitch black before he finished.

So Zhu Qinghao had another job at this time, which was to shine a flashlight for Sheng Yi.

At this point, she dared not joke around anymore, for fear that Sheng Yi would be distracted because of her, and that she might accidentally cut herself.

Sheng Yi wanted to laugh when he saw her looking like she didn't dare to breathe, but before he could laugh, Zhu Qinghao glared at him and shut him up.

So he stopped joking and focused on the task at hand.

It has to be said that people who talk less tend to act faster.

Before long, Sheng Yi had dismembered the deer and the two roe deer, mainly separating the meat from the bones, and then cut them into strips and chunks according to Zhu Qinghao's instructions.

Zhu Qinghao looked at the evenly sized strips and chunks of meat in the basin with great satisfaction, which meant that she would have one less step to complete the process.

Moreover, the pieces of meat that Sheng Yi cut were much more even and aesthetically pleasing than those she made herself. It wouldn't be embarrassing to give these to Sheng Yi when she took them out.

After watching Sheng Yi finish tidying up all those things, Zhu Qinghao immediately went back to the room to fetch a basin of hot water for him and brought out soap for him to wash his face and hands.

Hearing her shout, Sheng Yi didn't go over immediately. Instead, he used his mouth to hold the flashlight and cleaned up all the bloodstains in the backyard, then carefully buried them in the ground.

After doing all this, he turned back to wash his face and hands.

These things must have been quite tiring, because Sheng Yi was slightly out of breath when he passed Zhu Qinghao.

"You've worked hard, Sheng Yi. Are you hungry? Would you like to eat something before you go back?"

"You should eat something, no arguments allowed."

Sheng Yi was listening to Zhu Qinghao's question and was wondering whether to refuse, but the next second he heard her give an answer forcefully, without giving him a chance to refuse.

"Okay, then I'll do whatever you say."

"Okay, let's go then. We have steamed buns, eggs, and noodles at home. See what you'd like to eat?"

Sheng Yi didn't respond immediately, and after a while, he suddenly asked:

What did you eat for dinner?

As soon as he finished asking the question, he saw Zhu Qinghao's bowl, which still had two mouthfuls of noodles left.

The appearance of that bowl immediately confirmed his guess, causing the smile that was originally on his lips to freeze on his lips.

Is this what you're having for dinner?

Zhu Qinghao was puzzled and nodded blankly.

"Yeah, what's wrong?"

Sheng Yi sighed softly and shook his head.

"It's okay. I just felt I should stay and cook for you. You asked me to stay, but I left instead, which meant you didn't get to eat properly."

Zhu Qinghao immediately understood his meaning and quickly explained.

"Oh no, it's just that I'm lazy. I was thinking that I'd just eat alone, so I could just grab whatever would do."

I also fried some eggs and cooked them together, instead of just boiling plain noodles. And I don't eat this every day.

Don't worry, I learned cooking from you, and I'll definitely put it to use. I was just being lazy today.

Sheng Yi neither said he believed it nor he didn't, but simply rolled up his sleeves and asked Zhu Qing what she wanted to eat.

"Hello, Qinghao," she thought, intending to answer that she wasn't hungry, but the next second, a voice even more honest than hers rang out.

"Gurgle~"
