Si Tian didn't react for a moment and innocently asked:
"What? Why do we need to bring breakfast? Didn't we agree to go and come back quickly?"
Zhu Qinghao glanced at her helplessly and gave an irrelevant answer.
"Yeah, aren't we supposed to be quick to get back? Why do we need to bring a flashlight?"
Don't think I don't know, if you bring a flashlight, you'll be even more unrestrained when gossiping..."
Si Tian blushed slightly; her love of gossip was indeed a problem.
"Oh dear, this, this, okay, I promise I won't gossip about anything else with Aunt Haiying tonight, and I'll definitely go early and come back early. I mean what I say!"
"Okay, let's head out now..."
When the two arrived at the brigade leader's house, Aunt Haiying and her daughters-in-law were preparing to cook dinner.
"Oh, what brings you two here today? Staying for dinner? There hasn't been much food these past few days, so please don't mind."
Si Tian wasn't there for this; she had important business on her mind, so she quickly pulled her over.
"Auntie, let's not worry about dinner for now. Let me show you something. Can you tell what this is?"
As he spoke, he brought the basket he was carrying to her eyes and then lifted the cloth covering it.
Tian Haiying's interest was piqued, so she cooperated earnestly, wanting to see what Si Tian was going to show her.
What she saw surprised her.
"Hey, isn't this... what, bean sprouts or bean shoots?"
"Wow, these are growing so well! We've never seen bean sprouts grow so well before. Where did they come from? Who planted them? How come they're growing so well? They look so wonderful..."
Hearing this, Tian Haiying's daughters-in-law all gathered around, all agreeing that the bean sprouts were growing exceptionally well, and exclaiming in admiration.
Looking at everyone's reactions, Si Tian was very glad she made the choice she did earlier.
She brought soybean sprouts, which were not the same kind she had taken out to eat with Zhu Qinghao before.
The mung bean sprouts I took out at home earlier looked rather thin and weak, while the soybean sprouts looked much thicker and stronger, and their growth appeared much more pleasing to the eye.
She herself doesn't particularly like soybean sprouts, but sprouting mung beans is more expensive than sprouting soybeans, and soybean sprouts just look more appealing to the naked eye.
So she guessed that soybean sprouts would be more popular than mung bean sprouts among the villagers nowadays, which is why she brought these specifically.
She had explained the difference between the two types of bean sprouts to Zhu Qinghao, but even so, when Zhu Qinghao saw the yellow bean sprouts for the first time, she felt that they were growing very well, no wonder Aunt Haiying was so excited.
For farmers, the most exciting thing after a year of hard work is seeing their crops grow well and a bountiful harvest in sight.
When Si Tian first heard that Tian Haiying recognized Douya, all the excitement in her heart suddenly subsided.
As it turned out, after listening to the rest, I realized that it wasn't entirely without room for maneuver.
"Auntie, yes, these are bean sprouts. Does anyone in our village know how to grow them? Or do you know how to grow them?"
As soon as Si Tian asked the question, she nervously stared at Tian Haiying and her mother-in-law, as if afraid that one of them would reveal that they knew how to grow it.
Under her gaze, the group slowly shook their heads.
