Chapter 204 That's a Basin (1/2)

The person who answered was Tian Haiying, since she was in charge of cooking and serving the dishes today, and she was quite satisfied with the enamel basin Zhao Cheng had used.

"I'm very satisfied! Thanks to Uncle Ma! Otherwise, if Comrade Zhao had also brought a small bowl, I really wouldn't know what to do!"

The villagers appreciated the changes Zhao Cheng had brought to the team, so they were happy to treat him well. When they saw the enamel basin in his hand, no one had any objections.

"Yes, yes, it has to be Grandpa Ma!"

Hearing everyone's praise, Grandpa Ma's smugness became even more apparent. He even winked at Zhao Cheng, leaving Zhao Cheng both amused and exasperated.

Originally, Zhao Cheng hadn't prepared this as the tool before leaving home; it was just a slightly larger porcelain bowl. Even the Zhu family thought that the bowl might be too big and might cause dissatisfaction among the villagers.

Just before he was about to leave, Old Man Ma came over and immediately asked him which bowl he was planning to take with him.

Upon seeing the bowl Zhao Cheng had prepared, he immediately shook his head and said it wouldn't work, asking him to find an even bigger one. However, the Zhu family couldn't find a very large one no matter how many they looked for.

Old Man Ma was so anxious that he followed them into the kitchen and immediately spotted the enamel basin.

"There, that basin, take it and let's go."

Zhao Cheng hesitated; such a large basin would be quite intimidating to carry.

"Uncle Ma, this, this is a basin..."

Old Man Ma turned around and glanced at him.

"Tsk, I'm not so old and blind that I can't recognize that it's a basin. This is it. Trust me, take it and come with me."

"This is too big, what will happen when..."

Old Man Ma knew what the family was thinking. After thinking for a moment, he didn't explain further, but simply changed his wording.

"Oh dear, that stew made with pork and water, if the bowl you bring is too small, it'll be hard to carry back later. It'll spill half of it every few steps you take, and then what will be left when you get back?"

When Zhu's family heard this, it seemed to make sense, especially since it was snowing outside and the roads were difficult to walk on. They decided to bring a larger container so that it wouldn't be a waste to spill the contents.

So Zhao Cheng nervously took the enamel basin from home and went out with Grandpa Ma.

Fortunately, he encountered many people along the way, and everyone was carrying a fairly large container. Many people even praised him for carrying it well, which gradually put him at ease.

As soon as he arrived at the scene, he was surrounded by onlookers. Fortunately, no one thought that what he was carrying was too big or that he was trying to take advantage of the village.

Therefore, the only ones whose bowls were criticized for being too small were Zhu Qinghao and Si Tian.

However, they were both fine, since they were the only ones at home, and they hadn't planned to pack too much anyway, since there were so many people in the team, they just needed to taste a little.

"It's alright, Auntie. Everyone else has a lot of people in their families, but we only have ourselves. We only need enough for ourselves, not too much. It should be enough to hold."

"Yes, Auntie, the road is difficult to travel, so we'll pack less. We mainly want to taste your cooking. As long as we can taste it, that's enough. Everyone has worked hard all year, so it's only right that we eat more!"

There were already quite a few villagers present, and upon hearing their words, they assumed that the two women simply didn't want to compete with the other villagers for food.

After all, many people in the team had heard the captain tell them to bring bigger bowls, but the two of them still brought such small ones. If they said it wasn't intentional, no one would believe it.
