Chapter 212 New Year's Eve (1/2)

Grandpa Zhu didn't want to spoil the mood at this time, so he gave Zhu Qinghao a reproachful look.

"Who said Grandpa was worried about him? I just felt sorry for him because he didn't even send me a letter during the New Year and couldn't join us for such a sumptuous New Year's Eve dinner!"

Grandpa Sheng sat next to him. Hearing his stubbornness, he didn't expose him, but silently poured him a small glass of wine.

This wine was brought out by Zhu Qinghao; it was wine that had been taken from the Zhu family before. Its quality was certainly not bad, and even just a hint of wine was enough to divert the old master Zhu's attention.

Old Master Sheng poured a glass of wine for each of them, then picked up his glass:

"Come on, Huai Chuan, let's have a drink together. I never thought we'd run into each other here!"

I originally thought I would spend the New Year alone in the infirmary, and I was debating whether to shamelessly come over for a New Year's Eve dinner when Yanzhi came to pick me up.

I am truly, truly happy! I absolutely must drink this today!

Zhu Huaichuan smiled when he heard him talk about fate.

"That's true. Before I left the capital, I was wondering if I would ever see you again in this lifetime. I didn't expect to see you here. Perhaps it was some kind of guidance from heaven!"

Come on, let's have a toast to celebrate this unbreakable bond between us, and wish each other an even brighter future!

While they were talking, Zhu Qinghao had already poured a glass of soda for everyone at the table who wasn't drinking.

Just as the two were about to toast, Grandma Zhu quickly interrupted them.

"In that case, let's all have a toast to celebrate our reunion and to celebrate that our whole family is safe and sound!"

"good!"

"That's right, and I wish our family all the best for the future..."

This dinner was extremely lively, perhaps because it was cherished even more, making it even more lively than when we celebrated the New Year in Kyoto in the past.

After having a lively dinner with her family, Zhu Qinghao was escorted home by Zhu Yanzhi.

As she left, she was still reluctant to part with the lively atmosphere. If conditions allowed, she really wanted to stay up late with her family and make dumplings to celebrate the New Year, but unfortunately, reality did not permit it.

The Zhu family could see her reluctance to leave, but no one dared to ask her to stay. If they found out, it would be impossible for a young intellectual sent to the countryside to stay up all night in a cowshed.

Given the current state of their family, they absolutely do not want to drag Zhu Qinghao and Zhu Qi'an down with them any further.

It was fortunate that Zhu Qi'an acted first and came without consulting the authorities; if they had written a letter to discuss it, the Zhu family might not have let him come.

Although the leaders in the military were certainly aware of his family situation, sometimes things could take a turn for the better if they didn't expose it.

However, once that thin veil is pierced, things might not be the same at all.

So when the Zhu family saw Zhu Qi'an, they were happy, but more than that, they were worried.

But since everyone had already come, and everyone genuinely wanted to see them, no one voiced their concerns for the time being.

But Zhu Qinghao is different. She lives in the village and can see her every now and then. During the busy farming season, she might even see her every day. There's no need for her to risk fighting for this one day or two.

Zhu Qinghao herself understood this principle, so she even agreed to Si Tian's promise to make dumplings together to celebrate the New Year.

She got home quite early, and not long after she arrived, Si Tian came over with a bright light.

"Okay? Why did you start chopping meat? I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see, so I brought a lamp early on, but you still started before me."

Zhu Qinghao looked at the bright, dazzling white light in her hand with some surprise.

"You didn't just walk over here carrying this lantern, did you?"

Si Tian rolled her eyes.

"Do I look that stupid? I clearly turned on the light after I got inside, humph!"

Hearing that the doorbell was opened after she entered, Zhu Qing smiled and acquiesced.
