Chapter 248 is about Sheng Yi (1/2)

Sheng Yi probably sensed what she was thinking and smiled indulgently, but still put his index finger to his lips in a shushing gesture, telling her to hold back and not ask.

Although Zhu Qinghao didn't notice anyone following her, she was still willing to believe Sheng Yi's words, so she obediently nodded, shut her mouth, and squatted there quietly.

Not long after, I heard two sets of footsteps running back and forth outside.

They probably guessed she was hiding nearby, but weren't sure.

"Come out! We two brothers have seen you!"

"That's right! If you come out obediently, that's fine. But if you stubbornly stay there and we have to drag you out, the consequences will be more than a little girl like you can handle, hmph!"

Having heard these words clearly, Zhu Qing looked at Sheng Yi, only to see him gently shake his head.

Zhu Qinghao understood that he wanted her not to be fooled, so she smiled and gave him a look, indicating that she knew he was trying to trick her.

Unexpectedly, after Sheng Yi understood her gaze, he immediately gave her an approving look, as if praising her.

As soon as Zhu Qinghao noticed something was wrong, she immediately looked away, looking at the sky and the ground, but not at Sheng Yi.

The person on the other end was helpless, but he knew he had offended her. However, now was not the right time to appease her. He could only keep an eye on the commotion outside while trying to win Zhu Qinghao over with his eyes.

Zhu Qinghao ignored him and instead sat down on the spot, listening contentedly to the two people outside not far away probing each other, trying to figure out who they were.

Before long, she found herself suffering terribly.

It was a summer evening, and the mosquitoes in this abandoned garden were incredibly numerous, noisy, and venomous.

It's possible that people who drink spiritual spring water regularly have more fragrant blood, or it's possible that she has more delicate skin than Sheng Yi, so all the mosquitoes are targeting her to bite.

Not long after sitting down, Zhu Qinghao developed several large red bumps on her face, and mosquitoes kept buzzing around her ears.

Sheng Yi noticed this as well and kept fanning away the mosquitoes around her with his hand, but the effect was minimal.

In addition, Zhu Qinghao is quite sensitive to heat, so she wore a short-sleeved shirt today, leaving her two fair arms exposed to the air. For these mosquitoes that had been starving for a long time, this was a deadly temptation.

Once Sheng Yi was sure that the two people outside had left in a fit of rage, he didn't waste a second and immediately pulled Zhu Qinghao away from the dilapidated courtyard.

Once outside, Zhu Qinghao realized that not only herself, but Sheng Yi also had mosquito bites all over his face, and she couldn't help but laugh.

With his left hand behind his back, Sheng Yi looked at Zhu Qinghao with barely suppressed amusement in his eyes:

"What are you laughing at?"

Zhu Qinghao's smile became even brighter.

"What, aren't you laughing too? If you can laugh, why can't I?"

Sheng Yi paused, chuckled softly, and then answered seriously:

"I'm happy to see you."

Perhaps his answer was too serious, or perhaps the smile in his eyes was too dazzling.

Zhu Qinghao was too embarrassed to admit that she was laughing because of the large red bumps on his face. She simply turned her face away and smiled at the sunset.

Sheng Yi didn't say much, but as they walked, he would occasionally turn around to look at her and smile at her.

In the end, Zhu Qinghao couldn't hold back any longer, after all, she really had a lot of questions to ask.

"Brother Sheng Yi, weren't you in the army? Why did you suddenly come back?"
