Chapter 249 The Hidden Left Hand (2/2)

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lie to you or deceive you. I just..."

But what was it? He himself didn't know how to explain it.

Was he afraid she'd worry? Or was he just unwilling to show weakness in front of her? Or perhaps, he didn't want her to know his future was uncertain? Was he afraid his hand wouldn't heal properly and he wouldn't be able to give her a good future?

But all of this might just be unnecessary worry on his part, because the two of them haven't established any relationship yet.

Sheng Yi remained silent for a moment before speaking directly.

"Okay, I know we're not officially a couple yet, but in my heart, you're the person I want to be closest to in my future life."

I don't know if you'll believe me, but I still want to tell you that I once included you in my plans for the future.

"I never intended to hide the fact that I injured my hand from you, but I don't know how well it will recover, so I didn't tell you rashly."

Besides, I never expected to meet you in Kyoto. I originally planned to let you know when I went for my next checkup.

After speaking, he raised his hand, looked at the injury on it, and smiled calmly. However, in Zhu Qinghao's eyes, that smile was not as calm as he appeared.

Zhu Qinghao looked at him deeply for a moment, but ultimately said nothing more.

"Does it hurt?"

Sheng Yi was taken aback when Zhu Qinghao asked such a question right after listening to him. He paused for a moment before shaking his head with a smile:

"It doesn't hurt, don't worry."

Zhu Qinghao glanced at him, but didn't expose him. She simply took his hand gently, trying to see how bad the injury was.

However, through the thick gauze, you couldn't see anything at all.

Sheng Yi smiled as he looked at Zhu Qinghao, who was carefully examining his hand. He was glad that his hand had recovered a lot, otherwise he might have scared her.

Just as he was staring intently at Zhu Qinghao's profile, thinking no one would notice, Zhu Qinghao suddenly looked up.

"Sheng Yi, how did you hurt your hand? It looks really bad. Where are you hurt?"

Since Sheng Yi had said he wouldn't hide anything, he naturally told her the whole story.

Let's go back to two weeks ago—

That day, Sheng Yi had just returned to the hospital when he noticed a particularly noisy ward. He also remembered that the person in that ward was someone of unusual status, so he went over to take a look.

This one action resulted in a shocking wound on his left palm and an extended vacation with no end in sight.

Before he even reached the door, he heard someone inside shouting and making a huge fuss. When he got to the door, he found the person carrying a dagger, slashing wildly, which terrified the doctors and nurses who scattered in all directions.

The dagger was aimed precisely at the eyes of a young doctor who had recently joined the hospital, without missing a beat.

In a moment of panic, he rushed over without thinking, intending to knock the knife out of the man's hand. However, the man held the knife tightly and stabbed at him instead.

Finally, he reached out his left hand and grabbed the knife with his bare hands when it was less than 10 centimeters from his neck.

Furthermore, Sheng Yi clearly felt that after he grabbed the knife, the man pushed it further in, obviously trying to actually stab him in the neck, but he failed.

Fortunately, Yuan Yue and several other hospital leaders arrived at this moment and loudly stopped the chaos at the scene:

"What are you doing! What are you doing? Murder in broad daylight?! Stop right now!"

Lin Bin glared at the newcomer with a face full of resentment, then forcefully pulled the dagger from Sheng Yi's hand.

At that moment, Sheng Yi was in so much pain that his face turned deathly pale, cold sweat poured down his forehead, and his bleeding left hand trembled uncontrollably.
