Chapter 35 Renting a Room (2/2)

The people must have moved out recently, as both rooms are easy to clean; all that's needed is to sweep away the dust.

They quickly finished packing and even managed to collect three months' worth of subsidized grain from the brigade headquarters before lunch.

As Yan Lihua said when she signed her up for the rural assignment, in the first year, each person would receive a grain subsidy of 40 jin per month, but it would all be coarse grains such as sweet potatoes, corn, sorghum, and beans, with no rice or wheat flour.

If you want to switch to refined grains, the yield will be greatly reduced.

Considering that she had plenty of refined grains in her space and would continue to produce more in the future, Zhu Qinghao did not specifically change to refined grains, but asked for 40 catties each of beans, corn and sweet potatoes.

Si Tian didn't ask for much coarse grains, only 40 jin of corn and 20 jin of sweet potatoes. She also paid extra for 20 jin each of rice and flour.

Fearing that the two women wouldn't be able to take it with them, the brigade leader kindly asked his son, Wang Weiguo, to help them deliver it.

By the time they brought the food home, it was almost lunchtime, but even then, they couldn't cook because they were short of many things.

Zhu Qinghao was just about to rummage through her spatial storage to find something to eat when she heard a knock on the door.

Who is it?

"Okay, okay, it's me, Si Tian."

As soon as the person outside spoke, Zhu Qinghao recognized her voice and quickly went over to open the door for her.

As soon as the door opened, I saw Si Tian holding a large bowl of steaming hot noodle-like stuff in each of her hands.

"Sweetie? Did you bring a pot?"

She quickly reached out and took the bowl, looked around the house, and finally placed it at the end of the kang (a heated brick bed).

The house was indeed very clean, with no furniture at all, including tables, chairs, and benches.

"Oh? Right, I brought a small stove, which is just enough to boil some water. I also cooked some noodles. We'll just have this for lunch. Anyway, the educated youth settlement probably didn't prepare any meals for us."

Si Tian followed behind him, carried the bowl of noodles in her hand to the kang (a heated brick bed), and then took out two pairs of chopsticks from her pocket and rinsed them at the door.

Zhu Qinghao didn't plan to have much contact with the group of educated youth at the settlement, and she could tell that they weren't very welcoming to newcomers, so she didn't bother trying to win them over.

“Okay, I wasn’t planning on going anyway. They probably didn’t cook much, so let’s eat by ourselves. I have a few eggs here.”

"Sure, we'll peel the eggs and soak them in the noodles. They'll heat up after a while. I also added some ham sausage, which makes this ordinary noodle dish much more substantial."

Zhu Qing nodded with a smile, took out four eggs from her bundle, and gave two to Si Tian.

"Thank you, okay. You should eat these noodles quickly, or they won't taste good if you leave them too long."

Zhu Qinghao looked at the winding noodles in the bowl with curiosity, and thought they smelled quite delicious.

She was quick; she peeled the egg and threw it into the noodle bowl in no time, then picked up her chopsticks and started eating the noodles.

After seeing her eat several bites, Sitian asked:

"How is it? I didn't know if you could handle spicy food, so I didn't put in much chili."

If you like spicy food, I'll add more next time; or if you don't like spicy food, I'll omit the chili next time.

Zhu Qinghao shook her head, because she didn't feel there was anything wrong with it.

"No, I think it's pretty delicious. Sweetie's cooking skills are really good. The spiciness level is just right, but I could eat it if it were spicier."

These noodles look so unique! I've never seen noodles like this before. But they're delicious, I love them. Thank you, Sweetie.
