Chapter 41 Shopping Trip to the City (2/2)

After stocking up on cooked food, she went straight to the supply and marketing cooperative and the department store, and bought some more things that her family could use. Although there was already space, it was always good to have more.

Aunt Chunhua had told them that the weather was still good enough to go out now, but if they waited a while longer, until the heavy snow blocked the roads, even tractors wouldn't be able to leave.

So she plans to buy as much as possible while she can, since there are so many people in her family and there's no way she'll waste any.

She buys all sorts of everyday items, including toiletries, enamel mugs, bowls and chopsticks, thermos flasks, shoes, hats, socks, and more.

Not only that, she also ran back and forth between department stores and supply and marketing cooperatives, buying things here and then exchanging them there, while finding secluded places to put all the items into her space.

Seeing that the supply and marketing cooperative also sold small stoves and clay pots, she prepared a set for the cowshed as well.

I originally bought it in Kyoto, but the quality of that one looked so much better. If I were to use it in the cowshed, it would be better to use this one, which looks a bit crudely made.

Finally, she picked out some everyday items and put them out in the open: a large iron pot, knives, kitchen utensils, bowls and chopsticks, noodles, eggs, cooking oil, seasonings... After thinking for a moment, she also took out a piece of meat weighing about two pounds.

After stuffing everything into her basket, filling it to the brim, she finally covered it with a large iron pot. This way, anyone could see that there were quite a few things in her basket, but no one could be sure what they were.

After she finished her busy work, it was time for her and Si Tian to have dinner together at the state-run restaurant, as agreed.

After reviewing everything, she felt that she had prepared everything she needed to. So she picked up her heavy basket and walked slowly toward the state-run restaurant closest to the station.

Perhaps she was faster, because Si Tian hadn't arrived at the restaurant yet.

But since she was going to eat anyway, she simply carried the basket into the restaurant, found a seat, and waited.

As soon as she sat down, the waiter inside glanced at her twice and then rushed over aggressively.

"Are you going to eat or not? If you're not going to eat, you can't sit here!"

Zhu Qinghao frowned slightly, but she wasn't angry.

"Comrade who wants to eat, but I have to wait for my friend because I don't know what she wants to eat, so I can't order in advance. She should be here soon."

Perhaps because her answer was irrefutable, the waiter rolled his eyes and left unhappily.

Zhu Qinghao didn't understand her unhappiness, but seeing that she had left, she sat there peacefully. Unexpectedly, the waiter who had already left came back halfway.

"Hey! You'd better eat something. If there are more guests later and you haven't eaten, I'll kick you out."

Zhu Qing has a good temper, but she really can't stand this inexplicable and obviously contemptuous attitude.

She clearly paid for the meal, so why does the waiter seem to think she's a beggar?

Considering that she hadn't actually ordered any food and was somewhat just looking for shelter, she didn't get angry, though her tone wasn't particularly friendly.

"Okay, if this place is full of guests and my friend hasn't arrived yet, I won't need you to ask me to leave. I'll go out myself, okay?"

"Hmph! You better be!"

The waiter glanced at her, then walked away with a still unfriendly expression.

Zhu Qinghao ignored her and just kept craning her neck to look towards the door.

She wondered why Si Tian hadn't arrived yet. Had the shopping gone wrong? Or had something else happened?
