Chapter 67 The Eight Trigrams (1/2)

Zhu Pandi nodded with tears in her eyes, her gaze towards Shi Qiang filled with heartache and gratitude.

With just that one look, Shi Qiang, who was already somewhat unhappy, was once again subdued and happily went back into the house to get the money.

When Shi Qiang took out the money, Huang Ying snatched it away and handed it to Zhao Zhiyi, since Zhao Zhiyi was usually in charge of mending pots and buying oil.

After receiving the money from Shi Qiang, the crowd lost interest in watching the spectacle and returned to their own rooms.

So, only Zhu Pandi and Shi Qiang remained in the spacious room.

At this moment, Zhu Pandi remembered the fried eggs she had made. She had made four in total, but two of them had been crushed to pieces and could not be picked up.

She picked up the other two that were relatively intact, washed them, and tentatively handed one to Shi Qiang, who was looking at her expectantly.

"Brother Qiang, thank you. This is a fried egg I made myself. Although it fell on the ground, I picked it up and washed it. Would you like to try some?"

Shi Qiang had already seen her washing the two fried eggs and was so tempted that he had swallowed his saliva several times. When he saw her asking him, he happily took them.

"Thank you, Nana. But don't give them all to me. Let's each have one. I haven't tried Nana's cooking yet. I'm so lucky today."

After saying that, he snatched a fried egg from Zhu Pandi's hand with a silly grin.

Why do we say it was taken? Because Zhu Pandi wasn't really willing to give it up; she just wanted to pretend to be polite and wait for Shi Qiang to decline. Who would have thought he would actually take it?

In the end, she had no choice but to let Shi Qiang take one, since she couldn't be too obvious about going back on her word.

Then, she watched helplessly as Shi Qiang picked out the larger one, while she took the other one, which was clearly smaller, and started eating it with tears in her eyes.

Shi Qiang swallowed the fried egg in two bites before noticing that something was wrong with the person next to him.

"Nana, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Is the fried egg too cold to eat? If it's not good, we won't eat it, okay? Be good."

Upon hearing this, Zhu Pandi looked at him in disbelief, then sniffed, lowered her head, rolled up the whole fried egg, and swallowed it in two bites.

She had some doubts; if she really said the fried egg was cold and didn't taste good, the person in front of her would probably take it and eat it right away.

She was already frustrated enough that she only had one left after frying four eggs, so she was determined to keep this last one no matter what.

Sure enough, when Shi Qiang watched her devour the fried egg in two bites, a look of regret appeared in his eyes, and he swallowed several times.

Zhu Pandi was annoyed by his expression, so she ignored him and got up to go back to her room.

"Hey, Nana, Nana, where are you going? Why aren't you talking to me? Nana, Nana?..."

However, all that responded to him was a cold, indifferent figure walking away without the slightest hesitation.

----------------

Zhu Qinghao and Si Tian were unaware of everything that happened at the educated youth settlement. It was only later, when Tian Haiying came to their door to arrange a time for them to pickle vegetables, that she told them what had happened.

"Xiao Zhu, Xiao Tian'er, do you two know anything about what's happening at the educated youth settlement?"

Perhaps it was because Aunt Haiying's tone sounded mysterious that it immediately piqued Si Tian's curiosity.
