Chapter 76 Contacting Zhu Qi'an (1/2)

"Brother Sheng Yi, can I do you a favor?"

Upon hearing this, Sheng Yi immediately stopped what he was doing and said seriously:

"You speak, I'm listening."

After a moment's thought, Zhu Qinghao organized her thoughts and put together her own words.

“My family and I are now in the countryside, but my cousin from my aunt’s side is still in the army, and he probably doesn’t know the situation here.”

I'm afraid he'll worry, but I don't know how to contact him. I was wondering if you have any good suggestions.

Sheng Yi knew that she had a cousin who was three or four years older than her, but she hadn't seen him for many years and had almost forgotten about him.

Do you know which unit your cousin is in? Maybe it would be better if I could find a way to pass on a message for you?

Zhu Qinghao had the same idea, so she quickly followed his lead.

"Yes, I just want to ask you for help. I know where he is, but given our family's current situation, it's not appropriate for my family to take the initiative to contact him, and I might not be the best fit either."

From what you just mentioned, you should be in the same military region. I'm just wondering if this will be of any trouble to you.

As Zhu Qinghao spoke, she observed Sheng Yi's expression. If she detected any reluctance or impatience, she was ready to abandon this path at any time.

However, after waiting for a long time, she did not see either of those expressions on Sheng Yi's face. Instead, he looked determined.

“Okay, I’ll take care of this for you. You don’t need to wait for me to go back to the army. I’ll make a call to the commune this afternoon.”

Zhu Qinghao was surprised that he was so impulsive. She was stunned for a moment, and then worried that he might act rashly without finding out the details, which would be bad for both of them. So she prepared to speak up and stop him.

Sheng Yi seemed to have guessed her thoughts again, and explained his reasons for doing so before she could speak.

"I think I've seen your cousin before. I saw a young man who looked a lot like you when I was in the military hospital, but I didn't see you then, and I didn't hear his name either."

"After seeing you, I felt you looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place you. But just now, when you mentioned your cousin was over there, I immediately thought of him. I'm pretty sure it's him."

"And don't worry, I won't act rashly. I have connections in the military, the kind that I can do whatever I want."

I'll ask him then, and if it's not with him, I'll have him inquire about it for me.

Sheng Yi released several pieces of information at once, leaving Zhu Qing unsure which statement to be surprised by. Upon closer examination, however, she found them all to be reasonable.

Zhu Qi'an and Sheng Yi hadn't seen each other for over a decade. The Zhu family didn't know which military region the Sheng family grandfather and grandson were in, and the Sheng family grandfather and grandson didn't know that Zhu Qi'an had gone to the army.

Under these circumstances, it's not surprising that they met in the army but didn't recognize each other. She just didn't expect that it would actually be such a coincidence.

If she had known earlier, she might have asked Sheng Yi to help contact Zhu Qi'an.

Now that she had heard about this possibility, she couldn't contain her excitement and wished she could fly to the commune with Sheng Yi immediately to make a phone call and confirm whether it was indeed Zhu Qi'an on the other end.

Sheng Yi had been observing her closely, so he didn't miss the anxiety on her face, and gently comforted her:
