Chapter 6: Stealing the Heroine's Full Moon Banquet
The sixth day of March arrives soon.
Lu Chaochao was one month old. He could eat and sleep well. He looked silly and quite cute.
Everyone who sees it can't help but hug it.
Early in the morning, the Mansion of the Marquis of Loyalty and Bravery became busy.
"Miss Chaochao, you seem to know that today is her good day. You are very happy early in the morning." Yingxue likes to hug her very much. Her eyes sparkle every time she sees her.
[I snatched the heroine’s full moon banquet, so happy] Xiao Chaochao waved his fat paws and babbled.
Xu smiled and glanced at her. This girl was probably too young, so she could sometimes hear what was in her mind, but sometimes not.
Xu didn't force it. There was still a long time to go. It was already a great benefit for her to be able to get a glimpse of the future.
But the knife hanging around her neck made her feel a little uneasy.
"There are a lot of people here today, so please keep an eye on Chaochao." Xu ordered.
Ever since the day she was born, someone attacked Chao Chao, and she kept Yingxue and Juexia by her side, never leaving their side.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Madam, there are guests coming to the front yard. The old lady wants you to come over." Dengzhi reported outside the door.
In fact, although the Marquis of Loyalty and Bravery had a title to inherit, it all relied on the old marquis's service to the founding emperor.
The Lu family was originally a peasant family, and even though they were granted titles of nobility in Beijing, they still did not fit in with the aristocratic families in the capital.
Lu Jiagao married Xu, who was versatile and talented. With her help in educating the children of Lu family, the reputation of the Marquis of Loyalty and Bravery gradually emerged.
In order to marry Xu, Lu Yuanze knelt outside the Xu family's door for three days and three nights before he got a virtuous wife.
"The old lady is really really hard. Miss Chaochao is already one month old, but she doesn't even come to see her." Juexia curled her lips, feeling very dissatisfied.
"Okay, once this kind of talk is out of Tingfeng Garden, don't mention it again." Xu glanced at her sternly.
Juexia lowered his head and agreed.
Xu went all the way to the front yard, where many guests had already arrived, and the eldest princess was indeed among them.
Lu Yuanze's younger sister, Lu Wanyi, had already been waiting attentively by his side.
Xu's gaze paused.
"Sister-in-law, you are finally out of confinement. Wanyi missed you so much... Wanyi didn't even come back when you gave birth, and I felt sad." Lu Wanyi returned to the old house in Qingxi a month ago and just returned to the capital recently.
Lu Wanyi came forward affectionately and took her arm.
"You two, aunt and sister-in-law, are really close, which is rare." The eldest princess and Xu are close friends and have known each other for many years.
Lu Wanyi smiled and said: "When my eldest sister-in-law came into the family, I was only two years old. It is not an exaggeration to say that my eldest sister-in-law is like a mother. Naturally, I feel close to my sister-in-law." Lu Wanyi's expression was full of admiration.
Xu felt a little relieved.
At least, Wan Yi is still true to himself.
Lu Wanyi is the old lady's daughter. When she came into the house, Lu Wanyi was only two years old, and she was almost raised by her.
She has tried her best to teach her over the years and has put in a lot of effort.
Xu patted Lu Wanyi's hand and heard her ask, "Why hasn't brother come back yet? Today is my niece's full moon banquet. If he is late, I won't forgive him." Lu Wanyi pouted slightly, looking quite displeased.
Xu smiled and said nothing.
He entered with only a group of guests, who all went into the hall to greet the old lady.
The old lady came from the countryside. Even though she had lived in Beijing for decades, her temperament in every move and gesture was no match for the other ladies who had been influenced by her since she was a child.
"Mother." Xu took a deep breath, lowered her eyebrows slightly, and knelt down in front of the hall to bow.
The old lady was wearing a dark long coat and was sitting in the front of the hall.
"Help your sister-in-law up quickly. My body is not doing well. I didn't dare to visit you during your confinement, for fear of passing on my illness to you."
The old lady stretched out her hand and pulled her affectionately.
"Why have you lost so much weight? Is it because the servants didn't serve you well enough?" The old lady glanced at Dengzhi, who immediately knelt down.
Xu withdrew her hand unnoticeably and said with a smile, "Mother, please don't scare these girls. They are doing their best. Yunniang, you can't eat by yourself." How could she sleep well and eat while her husband was out watching his concubine give birth?
Everyone praised that Xu had married the right family and that the Marquis of Loyalty and Bravery treated her like their own daughter.
"It's almost the auspicious time, we can't miss it. Why hasn't the Marquis come back yet?" The eldest princess asked with a frown.
"When I return to the palace, I must have a good talk with my royal brother. Today's important event must not delay the auspicious time of the court meeting." The eldest princess looked unhappy.
The old lady's brows twitched.
He glanced at the nanny beside him.
The nanny retreated without leaving a trace.
After a while, the marquis was seen returning home in a hurry. It was so cold that beads of cold sweat appeared on his forehead.
There was a smile on Xu's lips, but the smile did not reach her eyes.
I'm afraid he is busy dealing with the full moon banquet in the mistress's room.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for a long time. My daughter's full-month anniversary came, so I asked someone to look for the South Sea Night Pearl. That's why we were delayed for some time." Lu Yuanze looked at Xu, his eyes full of apology.
"Nanyang Night Pearl?"
“This is good stuff.”
"My royal brother got one two years ago and gave it to the crown prince as a night light." The eldest princess couldn't help but admire.
Lu Yuanze bowed to the princess and said, "It's not as good as your majesty's."
Nanyang is thousands of kilometers away from the capital, and because of its remote location, the night pearls can only be picked in the deep sea, making them extremely precious.
"Hurry up and bring the young lady out." Xu waved her hand.
The resentment he showed towards Lu Yuanze was also less.
Not long after, Yingxue came out holding Xiao Chaochao.
The eldest princess was a little surprised and couldn't help but take the baby from Yingxue's hand.
Yingxue glanced at the lady, and only handed it over after seeing her nod.
"Oh, this girl is prettier than the previous three." Her skin is snow-white, her hair is as black as ink, she is fair and tender, and her eyes are rolling around.
The eldest princess was delighted when she saw it.
She had been childless for many years, and now when she saw Lu Chaochao, she loved him from the bottom of her heart.
This is the girl of her dreams.
"Here, do you like the night-shining pearl that daddy found for you?" Lu Yuanze smiled and handed the night-shining pearl to the baby, and the baby had to close his hands to barely grab it.
Lu Chaochao stared at the night pearl.
[Night-shining pearl!] 】
[He gave Lu Jingyao a headpiece made of twelve luminous pearls, and gave me a leftover piece? 】
[Humph, I don’t want what others don’t want]
When Xu heard this, the smile on her face slowly faded.
The hope that rose in my heart was extinguished again!
Does her daughter only deserve things that others don’t want? !
Xu felt a sharp pain in her heart, and even breathing was like a needle pricking her.
Xu was very angry.
Xiao Chaochao grinned at the princess and threw his hands up...
With a "bang..."
The night pearl fell to the ground.
Lu Yuanze's face turned blue and white as if he had been slapped.
Everyone was stunned for a moment, and the eldest princess smiled and said, "Lord Lu, you have to be more careful. Our little Chao Chao doesn't like this thing."
"I like Chaochao and get along well with her. If I have time, I will bring Chaochao to the Princess's residence to stay for a few days." She returned Lu Chaochao reluctantly, her eyes still on the child, reluctant to leave.
She gave the Xu family enough face.
"Yes, I'll come to your house when the weather gets warmer." Xu agreed with a smile.
As he was speaking, he heard the doorman come to report.
"The Crown Prince is here."
