Chapter 631 Resale
Mai Feng was seriously injured.
He was already skinny due to his wandering. A stick as thick as an arm hit his body, and the injuries on his back were horrific.
Maybe he suffered some internal injuries or was even vomiting blood.
His blood was so hot that Shanshan suddenly retracted her hand.
"Ni...are you okay?" he asked eagerly, looking at the scars all over his body and watching him spit blood.
Mai Feng moved a little, and just as he sat up, he began to tremble slightly with pain all over his body.
His face grew paler.
"Don't be afraid, little gourd. Brother Maifeng is fine. I have found medicine for you."
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine." He even forced a smile, trying to comfort Shanshan.
Shanshan looked at his furrowed brows, the beads of cold sweat on his forehead, and his tightly pursed lips.
At some point, he clenched his fists.
"Wo...Wo doesn't care about you." He turned his head and faced Mai Feng with his back.
Mai Feng smiled, not angry. He even seemed to have regained some energy, with a smile in his eyes.
When the cellar was opened again, the woman pushed the door open viciously, and a strong smell of Chinese medicine came to her face, mixed with a hint of burnt smell.
"Get out of here!" The woman glanced at him viciously and then closed the heavy stone door.
It had to be resold at night, and she was afraid that someone would really die.
I simply locked the iron door and left a crack in the stone door.
The air circulates and the bad smell in the cellar is dispersed. There is light again, which makes people feel more comfortable.
Mai Feng climbed up with a grin on his face and stirred the broken casserole with trembling hands. It's a little fuzzy underneath, but it doesn't affect the efficacy of the medicine.
He found a broken bowl, wiped it clean with the clothes inside, and poured some medicine to rinse it.
The baby's stomach is very weak, and he has experience in taking care of his younger brother.
Then he filled half a bowl with medicine and blew gently on it against his lips until it was warm before he crawled to Shanshan's side.
"Take a sip quickly. If you cook it for too long you'll get confused." He carefully handed the bowl to Shanshan's mouth.
Shanshan felt dizzy and nauseous after taking just one sip.
"Be good, Hulu, drink another sip. Don't vomit, don't vomit." In this era, a fever in a child can be fatal.
Shanshan felt nauseous, but Mai Feng didn't dislike it at all, and even coaxed him into drinking half a bowl with soft words.
After a pause, he took out a small handkerchief from his arms.
It was wrapped in three layers of small handkerchief, and he carefully opened it to reveal a piece of candy the size of a fingernail. There was a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. This was the candy that his brother had been talking about wanting to eat before he died.
He never got to eat it until he died.
By some strange coincidence he later got one and has kept it ever since.
Even though he was so hungry that his eyes were dizzy, he never thought of anything else.
"Little Hulu is so good. Eat a candy to sweeten your mouth. After eating, you are not allowed to sleep." He was afraid that Little Hulu would be like Guoguo and not even get to eat a candy.
Shanshan was so dizzy from the fever that she only felt him stuffing something into her mouth.
A sweet taste suddenly bloomed in the mouth.
Mai Feng couldn't help but feel happy when he saw his brows relax.
After a while, the woman opened the stone door. A bowl of steaming rice porridge was brought in, and even a large bowl of white flour buns.
Several children hiding in the corner rushed over and started to grab the things.
The woman kicked everyone away and said, "You are just a bunch of hungry ghosts, what are you trying to grab? Believe it or not, I will kick you to death, you bastards!"
"Two steamed buns and a bowl of porridge per person. No one is allowed to snatch them!" The woman glanced gloomily, holding a stick in her hand, and no one dared to act rashly.
After she finished distributing the food, everyone carefully held their bowls and drank the rice porridge with care.
“Is the buyer coming?”
The little girl in the corner was holding the bowl and crying in fear.
"Where will we be sold? Will I never be able to return home? Wuuwuwu..."
Everyone looked at the white flour buns in their hands, and everyone understood.
The seller must be coming.
Only after having a full meal and feeling refreshed and in good condition can you sell at a good price.
Mai Feng took a deep breath, ate half of the steamed bun, and hid the rest in his arms. He coaxed Shanshan to eat half a steamed bun and drink a bowl of porridge.
There was a crack in the stone door, and they could see the sky gradually darkening.
In the afternoon, Shanshan ate half a steamed bun again.
He then realized that he had some strength, but it was not obvious. His body was hot and cold, and Mai Feng was sweating as he held him.
The lights outside were on all the time, as if waiting for something.
The woman paced back and forth under the oil lamp, her brows and eyes anxious. The man sat on a stool, smoking a pipe, glancing at the door from time to time, revealing his true feelings.
"Why haven't you come yet, as promised?"
"You won't break your promise, will you?"
"We have done a big job, so we will stop after we finish this one. When we get the money, we will flee far away from Fan Kingdom. We will go to Beizhao, where we can study for free. We will find a place to buy some fields, some land, and a few maids, and live a life of being served by others."
"Then I will give you two more sons. That will be a wonderful life."
"Just keep a close eye on the child and don't let anyone kidnap him." She smacked her lips, her eyes full of longing.
There was no sign of annoyance or disgust on the man's face.
"Who is the buyer? Why does he always come to pick up the goods at midnight? I'm so nervous... My eyelids have been twitching all day, is there any accident?"
The woman couldn't keep quiet and kept muttering.
"Shut up!" The man frowned and glared at her.
"What nonsense are you talking about? It won't attract attention at night. If you have nothing to do, go and see what the goods are like and see if they are of good quality!"
"What the guests do is none of your business. I think you have forgotten the rules!"
"If my eyelids twitch, then so be it. We are in this line of work, what do we have to be afraid of? Can we expect to run into a ghost?"
As the man spoke, he couldn't help but take a deep puff of his pipe. As if it could give me courage.
As he was speaking, there was a knock on the door.
There was only a light knock, and then no more sound.
"Dear guest, is this you?" The woman trotted and pushed open the door. The courtyard was quiet and there seemed to be no movement outside the gate.
The man threw his cigarette on the table and raised his hand to stop the woman from coming forward.
"Dear guest, please push the door. It's not locked." The man said in a deep voice, his eyes serious.
After a long time, a sound was heard outside the door.
"It's not convenient for me to push the door. Could you please help me open it?" The voice of the person outside the door was shrill, a little dull, and a bit gloomy.
When the woman heard the voice, she suddenly breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's the voice of the distinguished guest. I was scared to death. Come on, go and pick up the goods. I'll go open the door."
Having said that, she went to open the door.
The man turned around to open the cellar, but he was absent-minded while opening the cellar. He wondered why the distinguished guest didn't push the door today?
"Get out here and don't make any noise. Otherwise, don't blame me for chopping off your heads!" He held a knife in his hand, like a devil from hell.
The children were trembling, their eyes were red and swollen, but they dared not make a sound.
They had seen that anyone who dared to ask for help on the road would be secretly strangled by him.
She leaned on his shoulder and swaggered out of the city gate.
The man was very experienced. He let the abducted children starve for a long time before they could have a full meal when he sold them. The children had neither the strength nor the courage to escape.
