Chapter 331 The Paradise is a Deception

Everyone has been fooled by ancient books.

The secluded paradise in the Northern Secret Realm is rarely visited, and it is unknown who fabricated the story that this place is exceptionally beautiful with its clear waters and lush mountains.

The scenery here is truly beautiful; only Sheng Ning and his companions can truly appreciate its charm.

Just as Sheng Ning finished asking Fang Chong's question, a large swarm of red, green, and yellow butterflies rushed towards the cave.

These butterflies all had beautiful faces, and when they spoke, their voices were as soft and gentle as the pale yellow butterfly's.

If Sheng Ning hadn't personally witnessed that pale yellow butterfly transform into a large, grayish-brown moth right before her eyes...

Perhaps, as a girl, she might like this scene.

But the thought of these beautiful butterflies turning into all sorts of bizarre, fluttering moths in the blink of an eye makes her scalp tingle.

Fang Chong and Qin Chuan worked together to set up a barrier to prevent the butterflies from fluttering their wings and entering the cave.

The butterflies, their steps halted by the barrier, were no longer as docile as before.

In front of Sheng Ning and the others, these butterflies transformed into giant moths.

They rushed forward and frantically pounded on the barrier.

Just like... a moth drawn to a flame.

The moths couldn't get in anytime soon. When Sheng Ning turned around to look at Fang Chong, she realized that he looked utterly disheveled.

"What about the other disciples of Dingtian Sect?"

Sheng Ning glanced behind him and found that, apart from him, even Xie Wenxuan was nowhere to be seen.

Fang Chong shook his head upon hearing this, "I don't know either."

"I was the last one to fall. After I landed, I was attacked by those moths and didn't see Junior Brother Xie and the others."

He circled the cave three times but couldn't find Xie Wenxuan and the others.

The thought that they might be carried away by these moths, or that they might have already left the cave, made Fang Chong's already serious face even more solemn.

He pursed his lips and said in a low voice, "Junior Brother Xie and the others were most likely taken away by the moths. Fellow Daoist Sheng, I'm sorry to have troubled you again."

This isn't a troublesome matter.

The fate of the four Dingtian Sect disciples is uncertain, and if Fang Chong returns alone, he will surely be severely punished.

Moreover, one must see the person alive or the body dead.

They haven't seen Xie Wenxuan and the other three yet, so they can't be sure they're dead.

There's also the Evil Emperor Ye Si, who was frozen by the dragon's breath along with Xie Wenxuan. Sheng Ning has great use for keeping him by her side, so she must not abandon him.

Looking back at the moths still fluttering towards the barrier, Sheng Ning narrowed her eyes, a smile that others couldn't decipher flickering between her brows.

"Since we're already here, how can we not take something back with us?"

"Fellow Daoist Qin, are you in a hurry to find the totem? If so, please go up first."

Fang Chong was flustered. It was only when Sheng Ning called roll that he realized Qin Chuan was also there.

His disheveled face showed a hint of surprise; he hadn't expected Qin Chuan to follow him.

Just as Qin Chuan, whose name was called, was about to shake his head and say "no rush," his sleeve was suddenly tugged.

As he lowered his head, he saw Qu Zhengqing standing beside him frowning and shaking his head at him.

He immediately transmitted his voice, "Senior Brother, have you forgotten why we came to this secret realm?"

Without hesitation, Qin Chuan said, "There is only hope if we follow Sheng Ning."

Qu Zhengqing couldn't understand what kind of bewitching potion the invincible Zong Shengning had given his senior brother.

Sheng Ning had almost killed him with a single shot before.

Now he insists that Sheng Ning is a good person.

Qu Zhengqing hesitated, wanting to say something, when he saw Qin Chuan lower his head and meet his eyes.

"I told you, since you've come down with me, don't say anything more, otherwise..."

Now Qu Zhengqing was full of complaints but had no way to solve the problem.

After all, if Qin Chuan really wanted to take action, he would be heavy-handed.

Qu Zhengqing stopped speaking, but his eyes were filled with resentment as he looked at Sheng Ning and the others.

Sheng Ning never took the disciples of the Taixu Sect seriously.

Seeing Qin Chuan shake his head, she then turned her gaze back to the moths.

The transparent barrier was stained with a few drops of bright blue blood, which, combined with the moths constantly flying towards the barrier and their hideous faces pressed against it, created a terrifying sight.

Sheng Ning chuckled and said, "The appearance of demons is really... quite arbitrary, huh?"

Her words did not affect Su Daiyuan and the others.

Since Xie Wenxuan and the others were likely taken away by the moths, they decided to follow them.

Sheng Ning, holding the rope tied around the moth's neck and stepping on its back, asked, "Brother Demon, did you see any cultivators coming down just now?"

The giant moth never imagined that it, who had lived here for hundreds or thousands of years and had almost always scared cultivators to death, would be so powerful.

One day, I will be ridden under the feet of a monk, with a cold cannon barrel pressed against my head.

The wind was whistling in my ears.

The moth recalled that not long ago, the cultivator riding on its back had pulled out an unheard-of divine weapon and nearly killed all its brothers and sisters.

The moth felt a wave of fear wash over it.

"I...I've never seen it before."

Sheng Ning knew that these dishonest demon cultivators wouldn't tell the truth.

She tightened the muzzle of the enhanced laser cannon pressed against the moth's head, and the corners of her lips turned up slightly.

"Brother Demon, you'd better answer my questions honestly, or I don't know if the divine weapon in my hand will blow your head off."

"Just like your brothers and sisters."

Upon hearing that its head was about to explode, the moth was so frightened that it slowed down its wing flapping for a moment.
