Chapter 26 We

The Third Wizard Tower, Signy's room.

After Ash was relieved about the situation in Rockburg, he listened more carefully to Nance explaining the contract between him and Sigourney.

"It is not clear what type of contract it is at the moment," said Nance. "But judging from the performance so far, it is at least the most closely connected of the currently known contracts."

"Give me an example..." Nance said seemingly casually, but before the last word of this sentence fell, he quickly inserted his fingers into Ash's eyes - when his fingertips touched Ash's eyelashes, they stopped abruptly.

"Hey, let me tell you." Nance helplessly looked at Ash, who was attacked suddenly but did not even blink, and said with his forehead in his hand, "Wouldn't most people blink reflexively when encountering such a thing?"

Ash stared at the fingertips so close to him and blinked slowly and hesitantly.

"It's too late to blink now!" Nans withdrew his hand tiredly, "Even if this is not your body, you should still be afraid."

Ash was at a loss: "I'm sorry?" He just didn't sense the danger. It was as if his subconscious knew that Nance would stop, so his body calmed down on its own.

Nance sighed in frustration. “That’s totally unhelpful. Forget it. I’ll just get straight to the point.”

"When a person senses danger, the body's stress response is faster than thinking."

"Like just now, if someone suddenly attacks you, your body may not react before your brain reacts. You either dodge or resist subconsciously," Nance said. "Or when you fall, you don't fall straight down, right? When your mind is blank, your body first prepares for self-protection after falling."

"You and Sigourney have a relationship like that," Nance laughed. "The two of you are one. It's not you and me, it's (us). When one of you is in danger, the other will automatically go into a stress state for (our) safety."

"Automatically, you know?" Nance smiled slyly, "This has nothing to do with your own will."

"You were in danger in the Stonehenge, and the contract threw Sigourney, who was able to protect (your) community, to rescue you, which led to your body swap." Nance said, "Of course, all of this is my understanding and speculation. But it makes sense, right?"

Ash nodded thoughtfully and repeated what Nance had said before: "With enough intelligence and knowledge, one can draw a whole leopard from a single stripe..." Although Nance said that this was all his guess, Ash felt that this guess was pretty close to the truth.

"Smart kid." Nans smiled. "If you can become a formal wizard, if you have that desire, I can take you as a student and teach you to become an excellent astrologer. Ash Elwin, what do you think?"

Ash was stunned for a moment, then nodded seriously: "I will try my best!"

"For more, we'll talk about it after you enter the wizarding academy and truly step into the wizarding world." Nance raised his hand and rubbed his hair. Sigourney's head-patting achievement was achieved. Happy!

"You must have been quite frightened in the Stone Castle." He said gently, "I won't disturb you. This is Signy's room. Although he usually doesn't like others to step into here, you are using his shell at least. I don't think he will mind you resting in his bed. Get some sleep, maybe you will be able to switch back soon."

After saying that, he turned and walked out.

"Mr. Nance!" Ash called out to him.

"Anything else?" Nance turned around.

Ash sheepishly touched his flat stomach, "Anything to eat? I'm so hungry now."

Nance immediately looked at the lunch box he had brought with him and said helplessly, "Hey, Sigourney, she doesn't eat well again." As he spoke, he walked over, opened the lid of the lunch box, took a look inside, and sighed, "Sure enough!"

Ash also saw what was in the lunch box, which was a dark red liquid. Considering Sigourney's identity, it was not difficult to guess that it was blood. However, because it had been stored for too long, the color of the blood was no longer fresh and was extremely dark.

Even though the blood scored negative on the “color” of the “smell and smell” scale, the faint fragrance it exuded still attracted the attention of the hungry Ash. It was not as sweet as the cake on Nance’s body, but it was still a piece of whole wheat bread that could fill his stomach.

Ash licked his lips, his teeth itching.

Want to eat.

Nance was still worried about his child being picky about food. He closed the lunch box and was about to take it away to exchange for a fresh one. He said to Ash apologetically, "Ash, I ask you to be patient for a while. Sigourney can't eat the food we humans eat."

Ash looked at him strangely and pointed at the lunch box in his hand: "Can't I eat this?"

Nance tilted his head stiffly, thinking he had misheard, and lifted the lunch box a little higher: "This?" He said in a surprised tone, "You mean this?"

Ash nodded.

"This is blood." Nance reminded him incredulously, "You don't even know what blood it is, and you want to drink it?"

"This is Sigourney's food," Ash said, "Sigourney's body is hungry now."

He looked at Nance quizzically, as if to say, what's wrong with eating food when you're hungry?

Nance was stared at by his clear eyes, and for a moment he felt that he was the abnormal one who was making a fuss.

He shook his head, trying to sober himself up and stand firm. It was obvious that something was wrong with Ash, right? As a human being, a normal person, who would casually ask to drink blood?

Even if a vampire instinctively desires blood, it is only the body that pursues blood, while the mind rejects it.

And judging by Ash's expression, he didn't look like he was being controlled by vampire instincts at all.

Nance asked tentatively, "What if this is human blood?"

Ash blinked, "It's also Sigourney's food, right? If the food isn't eaten, won't it be wasted?"

See, there is something wrong with this kid!

Nance was stunned.

"Mr. Nans, can you let me drink it?" Ash pressed his lower abdomen and said sincerely, "This body is really hungry."

What else could Nance say? Nance could only hand the lunch box to Ash with an expression of disbelief.

Ash held the lunch box and drank it down like he was drinking milk before bed, "gulp gulp", without any reluctance or nausea, nor any bloodthirsty excitement, he just drank it down calmly.

After drinking it, he licked his red lips and tilted his head in surprise: "The taste of passion fruit?"

Will it include a post-meal review? Nance had a complicated expression. I hadn't noticed it before - Sigourney, your contract partner is unexpectedly difficult to deal with. Maybe this time you're going to hit a wall.

Hitting a wall?

Sigourney hit a wall?

Wait! Nance paused for a moment, then suddenly realized what was going on. Hey, what was he so anxious about? Ash was Sigourney's contract partner, not his. Wouldn't it be interesting to see Sigourney get humiliated by this guy?

This is a great happy event!

Nance's spirits lifted, and he started laughing inside again.

After packing up his lunch box and giving Ash an expectant look that said "I'm rooting for you, young man", Nance walked out of the room briskly.

The mood of the old man is changeable, and it is impossible to guess what he is thinking. Ash watched Nance leave, and then looked at the messy room - he was full and energetic, but he couldn't sleep, so what should he do?

He began to work diligently in the room, not touching the scattered papers and books, because sometimes the village chief Fann's house was like this. When they wanted to help clean up, the village chief said, "Although they are messy, I know where each book is. If you are kind enough to help me clean it up, I will lose it."

He thought Sigourney was the same.

He did not touch the odds and ends such as plants and minerals. Those might be the alchemical materials that Yelena mentioned. He had no knowledge of which ones he could touch and which ones he could not, so he decided not to cause trouble to Sigourney's body.

In the end, he just picked up Sigourney's messy clothes one by one.

Maybe it's because the clothes piled up on the floor take up the most space, so when the clothes are put away, the whole room has a new look. Even if there are papers and sundries on the floor, it looks especially tidy.

The contrast between before and after is quite obvious.

After cleaning up, Ash finally understood why he felt the room was spacious yet depressing when he first came here.

——Because there is no window in the room.

There are walls on all four sides, like a closed secret room.

Because... he's a vampire who can't see the sun?

Ash stood in the room, lowered his head and poked the small silver star on his left arm.

Sigourney, who entered his body, should be able to bask in the sunlight, right?

I hope that today's Stonehenge will have a long, sunny day.
