Obedience is worse than respect

Obedience is worse than respect

Jiang Shuiying and Luo Yuwen discussed in the conference room and planned to go to the fruit and vegetable juice store first to find out the situation, and then go to Qu Qing's bookstore before the bookstore closed in the evening.

Because after checking the map, the two found that the juice shop and the bookstore were only across the street from each other.

Luo Yuwen frowned, this meant that Qu Qing had every chance to go to the fruit and vegetable juice shop and poison Yan Ming's drink without anyone noticing, but then he thought again, if poison was used, there would be no way the police would not find out.

To be on the safe side, Luo Yuwen decided to check it out himself.

Jiang Shuiying was wearing a white shirt and suit pants today. She took out the round-frame glasses she had worn when she met Zhu Zhi from her bag, and changed her makeup. She looked less ostentatious than before, and standing next to Luo Yuwen, she looked like a little secretary.

Of course, it only looks like that, because Luo Yuwen will have to open the car door for this "little secretary" later.

The two of them emerged from the conference room and drove off to Yan's. It was just after work, and the traffic was a bit congested. The lights were off, and the neon lights of the city shone through the windows, illuminating the figures of a man and a woman.

There was a moment of silence in the car. Jiang Shuiying leaned against the window and looked at the motionless car in front of her, feeling a little tired.

"Luo Yuwen, how are you going to investigate this time? You're not going to ask directly like last time, are you?"

“Not everyone is as easy to talk to as me.”

Luo Yuwen tightened his grip on the steering wheel and said, "Jiang Shuiying, do you think I'm so reckless?"

Jiang Shuiying blinked her eyes, her expression was self-evident.

Luo Yuwen held his forehead and sighed deeply before responding:

"Of course I know that we can't rush into this kind of thing. Jiang Shuiying, since you want to follow me to investigate the case, you must trust me."

While driving, Luo Yuwen was thinking in his mind how to approach Qu Qing without arousing her suspicion and allowing her to cooperate with the investigation smoothly.

To be honest, Jiang Shuiying contributed a lot to the smooth progress of the last investigation of Zhu Zhi. After all, without her reminder, the two of them would not have been able to enter the set so easily. Moreover, Jiang Shuiying's appearance also greatly reduced Zhu Zhi's vigilance, which allowed the subsequent questioning to proceed smoothly.

Qu Qing opened a bookstore. According to his secretary, he opened it himself and had no direct relationship with Yan Ming. If you ask him directly, Qu Qing would definitely not tell you.

Generally, private shops are less wary of regular customers. Perhaps the two of them could pretend to enter the bookstore, pretend to be customers and get close to Qu Qing to lower her guard. Maybe they could get something out of her. A plan gradually took shape in Luo Yuwen's mind.

Thinking that the light happened to be red, Luo Yuwen turned his head after the car stopped, intending to tell Jiang Shuiying about his plan, and saw Jiang Shuiying looking at him intently with a smile on her lips.

What does she mean?

"Jiang Shuiying, why are you looking at me?"

Jiang Shuiying's smile widened, and there was no embarrassment on her face about being exposed. "I think the way you think about the case is very funny."

"Tell me, Detective, what are your thoughts? I suppose you already have a plan in mind?"

At this moment, the green light came on. Luo Yuwen turned his head away, stepped on the accelerator and drove towards the destination, saying as he drove:

"Jiang Shuiying, how about acting with me?"

Luo Yuwen then told Jiang Shuiying the plan he had just come up with word for word. After listening to it, she had no objection and agreed to Luo Yuwen.

"Then I shall obey your command, Mr. Detective."

This sentence sounded strange to Luo Yuwen, because this was the same answer he gave Jiang Shuiying when he first met her. He also naturally caught the teasing in her eyes.

Is this pointing at me?

Because of the traffic jam on the road, the two arrived an hour later than expected and arrived at their destination at around seven o'clock. After getting off the car, Jiang Shuiying took out her round-frame glasses from her bag and put them on.

Although the street where the juice shop was located wasn't a commercial street, it had all sorts of shops, including coffee shops, clothing stores, and dessert shops. The traffic was pretty good, and Jiang Shuiying took a quick look and saw that almost every shop had customers.

But when they arrived, they were stunned. They had thought the shop would be modern, since fruit and vegetable juice is usually only consumed by young people. But standing at the door, they realized it looked quite old and more like a dessert shop than a milk tea shop.

The sign outside the store looks very old, the paint on it has peeled off, and there are some traces of rain stains on the wall. There are some very old tables, chairs and benches outside, with many cracks on them. It looks like an old store hidden in an alley.

Luo Yuwen pushed open the door, and the two of them entered the store and found that the store was a little deserted. There was only one middle-aged woman as a clerk, and the only customer was a young woman with black hair sitting in the corner.

The young woman had long, straight black hair parted in the middle, and sat there, caught in the light, looking like black silk. She was wearing a linen dress and looked very thin. She had a laptop in front of her, typing away at the keyboard with a serious expression, as if she were working.

The woman was sitting in the corner. Luo Yuwen couldn't see her appearance clearly, but he could only roughly know that she had very fair skin.

There was a large transparent glass separating the kitchen and dining area in the dessert shop. A middle-aged woman was sitting inside, looking down at her phone.

The middle-aged woman hurried out to greet them upon seeing them come in, and said with a kind smile, "Welcome, what can I do for you two?"

“Our desserts are delicious.”

Jiang Shuiying moved a seat closer to the door and asked Luo Yuwen to sit opposite her. At this time, Luo Yuwen was sitting with his back to the young woman.

The middle-aged woman handed the two of them a menu. Luo Yuwen took it and looked through it over and over but couldn't find the fruit and vegetable juice. His expression began to become strange - the address of this store could not be wrong, Zhu Zhi and the male assistant provided the same one, but now the most crucial clue was not on the menu.

Could it be that this store is guilty?

Jiang Shuiying, who was sitting opposite Luo Yuwen, guessed most of what he knew by looking at him without saying anything.

So she raised her head, smiled sweetly at the middle-aged woman, and asked, "Boss, I'm trying to lose weight and don't want to drink anything too sweet. Do you have any fruit and vegetable juice in your store?"

This sentence interrupted Luo Yuwen's train of thought. When he looked up again, he saw Jiang Shuiying looking at him with a somewhat smug expression.

That expression seemed to say: See, it's that simple.

The boss standing nearby looked a little strange after hearing this. "Um... I'm sorry, we used to have this, but I don't make fruit and vegetable juice anymore. Do you want to try something else?"

"Huh? Why?"

"This..." The boss looked around and then outside the door, his expression a little hesitant, "This fruit and vegetable juice is too weird, I don't dare to make it..."

Jiang Shuiying's expression instantly became gossipy, so she ordered three bowls of the most expensive dessert in the store, as if she was going to order something and not leave.

The boss was grateful for Jiang Shuiying's kindness, and seeing that she was so supportive just for a piece of gossip, he hesitated for a while, then sat between the two of them and began to tell the story.

"Guest, I only think you look kind, otherwise I wouldn't dare to say anything..."

"The police came to check our shop a while ago, saying that the fruit and vegetable juice we sent out had killed someone, and it was that entrepreneur, Yan...what was his name..."

Luo Yuwen continued: "Yan Ming?"

The boss nodded repeatedly: "Yes, yes, that's the name."

"I didn't know fruit and vegetable juice could be deadly. I wanted to follow the trend, but it almost closed my shop! I was so scared that I quickly drank the fruit and vegetable juice."

The boss patted his chest, looking frightened, and looked outside from time to time, as if he was afraid that the police would come again.

"After this incident, my store has not had as many customers as before, but luckily there are still some regular customers..."

Luo Yuwen looked through the glass and found that there was indeed a juicer on the stove inside, and there was more than one, and the signs of use on it also showed that the boss was not lying.

The sweet soup served by the shop owner was exquisite in appearance and made with solid ingredients. Luo Yuwen took a sip and found it not very sweet.

Jiang Shuiying chewed the taro balls, looked at Luo Yuwen and then at the boss, her cheeks puffed a little. "So is there really something wrong with your fruit and vegetable juice? Did the police find anything when they came?"

The boss slapped his thigh when he heard this, looking very aggrieved. "Hey, customer, please don't say anything nonsense. I've run this shop for over ten years. How could I possibly hurt you?"

"The police checked everything here and finally said I wasn't a suspect. Otherwise, how could I have continued driving..."

Luo Yuwen heard this and touched his chin thoughtfully. After a while, he spoke:

"You said you've run a dessert shop for over a decade, so why are you suddenly selling fruit and vegetable juice?"

After hearing this, the boss did not answer directly, but said something that neither of them expected:

"Hey, young man, why are you asking the same questions as the police?"

"Young people nowadays all drink milk tea. Who would drink sugar water anymore? I was just thinking about expanding my business. Who would have thought of this?"

"Besides, the fruit and vegetable juices were selling well before, and no one was hurt..."

Luo Yuwen lowered his head and drank two sips of sugar water, trying to hide the expression on his face, but it was still caught by Jiang Shuiying opposite him.

Jiang Shuiying smiled and said nothing.

The three people behind chatted about some other things and then left the boss alone. After the boss left, the two of them were still eating and chatting at the table, like two office workers who came out to have fun after work.

The two of them finished half of the sweet soup. Jiang Shuiying felt a little greasy, so she picked up the tea and took two sips. Then she saw Luo Yuwen staring at her with a smile on his face.

"Isn't it about losing fat?"

Jiang Shuiying gave him a glare.

Next, the two planned to rest in the store for a few minutes before setting off to Qu Qing's bookstore. Luo Yuwen looked at the time and it was almost eight o'clock.

At this time, the young woman who had been sitting in the corner stood up, put her computer into her bag, and seemed to be preparing to go out.

The boss saw her stand up and said hello:

"Miss Qu, are you leaving? Come back next time."

The young woman looked at her phone and replied "OK", then walked out of the dessert shop with her head down, as if she didn't notice Jiang Shuiying and Luo Yuwen sitting there.

Miss Qu?

This address made Luo Yuwen and Jiang Shuiying look at each other quickly. They paid the bill and followed him out of the dessert shop.
