Chapter 128 There's a skirt, do you want to wear it?
The casual pants weren't actually tight. Mu Yan knew she couldn't disobey Xie Chen, sobbing as she changed into the pants.
When it was time to go out, Tangyuan thought the two of them were going to take him with them, so he excitedly ran to the door ahead of time with his favorite toy in his mouth, waiting for them to open the door. It had been too long since he had gone out with Muyan.
Xie Chen skillfully coaxed him for a while, gave him a bag of snacks, and earnestly promised to take him out to play when he came back that night.
The door closed behind him, and only then did Mu Yan notice that Xie Chen had taken the car keys.
"Didn't you say... you were just going out for a short walk and would be right back? Why did you need to... bring the car keys?"
Xie Chen glanced at him and saw that he was starting to back down. Before Mu Yan could actually put up any real resistance, Xie Chen reached out and grabbed his wrist.
"If you had obediently followed me downstairs from the beginning, you would be walking around the neighborhood now."
"But you didn't listen to me just now."
Mu Yan's nose turned red, and he was about to cry again. Xie Chen ignored him, forcefully put him in the passenger seat, and drove to the psychologist he knew.
Because they were there unexpectedly, and the doctor's previous patient hadn't finished yet, the two of them waited in the break room, where the psychologist's assistant made them two cups of herbal tea.
No matter how willful or temperamental Mu Yan was at home, once outside, he would only dare to grab Xie Chen's sleeve, lower his head, and remain silent.
Once outside, Xie Chen was no longer strict with him. He quietly held him and would avoid the topic when others tried to talk to them.
The psychologist must have known about Mu Yan's situation beforehand. He handed Mu Yan a questionnaire and asked him to complete it on his own. To prevent Xie Chen from interfering, he deliberately asked Xie Chen to sit on the sofa in the distance.
Xie Chen hesitated for a moment, worried that Mu Yan might be scared by being alone. Seeing that Mu Yan didn't seem too resistant, he sat down on the sofa.
"It is indeed a common feeling of anxiety, but it is not to the extent of prenatal depression. There is no need to worry too much, but appropriate intervention is still necessary, otherwise the situation may worsen and turn into depression."
"Get plenty of sunshine and go out regularly, even if it's just to take out the trash or go for a walk. Absolutely avoid keeping him in his room all the time, as that will only make him more anxious. If possible, you can also join some social groups, but if he's really introverted, there's no need to force him."
Xie Chen seemed relieved, while Mu Yan felt as if he had been granted a pardon, thinking he could finally go home.
However, Mercedes did not drive back the way they came. Mu Yan initially naively thought that there was a shorter way back, until the scenery outside the window became more and more unfamiliar, and he turned to look at Xie Chen with a wronged expression.
"Don't you like wearing loungewear?" Xie Chen said without changing his expression or showing any remorse. "I'll go to the mall and buy you a few more sets. Your current sets aren't enough, and they're all similar colors. Won't you get them mixed up?"
Mu Yan wanted to argue that he clearly wouldn't mix things up, and that there are many shades of gray and different styles, but he knew that Xie Chen was just being malicious and trying to find a reason not to let him go home. He didn't care whether he would mix up the clothes or not.
There were more people in the mall than Mu Yan had imagined; he hadn't seen so many people in a long time.
Mu Yan followed half a step behind Xie Chen, her fingers gripping Xie Chen's sleeve tightly, her palms sweating.
The cacophony of voices, the blinding lights, the mingled scents of perfume—anything could make him dizzy.
No matter who casts a glance at him, intentionally or unintentionally, he will suddenly lower his head like a frightened rabbit, trying to shrink himself even smaller.
Xie Chen bought him a cup of decaffeinated milk tea at the coffee shop and told him to hold it and drink it. Mu Yan vaguely remembered that this seemed to be very popular recently, but he just wanted to get away from here as soon as possible and had no interest in it at all. He held it in his hand for a long time without taking a sip.
Aside from beverage and dessert shops, almost all the shops on the first floor of the mall sell cosmetics and perfumes. The elegantly made-up people coming and going made Mu Yan feel even more out of place.
As they passed the baby store, Mu Yan seemed to finally breathe a sigh of relief and subconsciously grabbed Xie Chen's sleeve and took a step towards it.
Inside the glass display case, cute baby clothes were neatly hung, and colorful toys, strollers, and cribs of all kinds were displayed on the shelves.
More importantly, there were many pregnant omegas and betas there, with their lovers by their side choosing maternity and baby products, and no one would give him a second glance because of his protruding belly.
Xie Chen reached out and grabbed his wrist, pulling him away from the vicinity of the maternity and baby store.
Mu Yan looked up in surprise and met Xie Chen's cold profile.
"We agreed that we're here to buy clothes for you, not for the kids."
"There are some in there too..."
“There are maternity dresses in there. Would you like to wear one?” Xie Chen stopped and released his hand from his grasp without trying to stop him. “I can take you in to buy one, but you have to wear it after we get back.”
Mu Yan was stunned, speechless under the weight of his words.
In fact, if Mu Yan calmed down and thought about it, she would realize that Xie Chen's argument was simply sophistry. There are many pregnant male omegas, and it's impossible for a maternity store not to have clothes for them.
But his tone was so certain that Mu Yan had no doubt that he would really buy a lot of dresses and then force himself to wear them when he got home.
Mu Yan felt even more aggrieved, but with so many people in the mall, he didn't even dare to cry.
Xie Chen pulled him along, heading straight for the trendy, affordable luxury brand worn by the young man in the densest crowd.
Despite the large number of customers, the staff still greeted them warmly and asked what they wanted to see.
Mu Yan's voice was barely audible: "...Let's just look around ourselves, don't worry about us..."
"Get me your new spring style," Xie Chen said to the sales clerk almost simultaneously with Mu Yan, "the one that went viral and trended on social media after a male celebrity wore it in a promotional photoshoot, size M."
"That's out of stock," the saleswoman said in a slightly louder voice than usual, seemingly to make sure the customers next to her could hear. Then she lowered her voice and said to Xie Chen, "Please wait a moment, we'll go to the warehouse to get it for you. Would you like to look at something else first?"
Xie Chen glanced at the outfit on the model, then paired it with two other outfits and asked the sales assistant to get Mu Yan's size.
The brand's clothes were very fashionable, but in Mu Yan's opinion, they were the kind of clothes that fashion influencers or idle rich kids would wear. When he walked out of the fitting room after trying on the first outfit, he felt extremely uncomfortable.
Xie Chen usually dresses in a mature style, always wearing classic black, white, and gray, rarely even brown or khaki. Mu Yan wondered why he knew such a trendy brand and dressed himself in such an immature way.
The shop assistants kept praising him, and Xie Chen watched with satisfaction. It wasn't until Mu Yan's ears were almost completely red that Xie Chen told him to change back into his own clothes, saying that he didn't need to try on the rest and that he could just wrap them all up.
Every second in the mall was unbearable. Mu Yan mustered up her courage and asked Xie Chen if they were going to buy loungewear next. After receiving an affirmative answer, Mu Yan, who had been deceived by Xie Chen before, immediately asked if they could go home after buying it.
Xie Chen turned his head to the side, lowered his head slightly, looked into Mu Yan's eyes, and nodded: "Yeah, I'll go home after I buy it, I'm not lying to you."
Mu Yan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
His tense nerves relaxed a bit, and he immediately felt a little tired. Xie Chen noticed this as well, and made him sit on the soft leather bench while waiting for him when they were buying loungewear.
Mu Yan felt as if he had been granted a pardon. He sat on the stool, drinking the milk tea that Xie Chen had just bought for him, lost in thought, like a child waiting for his parents to pick him up.
The milk tea was actually quite delicious, but the recommended sweetness level seemed a bit too sweet for a hot drink, Mu Yan thought, biting the straw. It would probably taste better iced, but Xie Chen wouldn't allow him to drink anything cold.
"Let's go." Xie Chen came back carrying several paper bags. Mu Yan reached out to take them, but Xie Chen didn't let him.
Mu Yan could only see a portion of those loungewear pieces from the outside. They appeared to be made of soft, plush fabric, and although the colors were a bit bright, they still inexplicably gave people a sense of security.
When Mu Yan got home and unpacked the items, he discovered that the loungewear was all the kind of onesie loungewear that young boys and girls wear, with animal ears or even tails.
"Why are there rabbit ears...?"
“There are no rabbit ears,” Xie Chen said, looking over with some confusion. Seeing the sky-blue loungewear, he corrected her seriously, “This isn’t a rabbit, it’s a dog, a big-eared dog.”
“When you’re in a bad mood, you should wear brighter colors. This one looks better than the one you took off.” Xie Chen picked up the Cinnamoroll loungewear and compared it to Mu Yan. The fluffy clothes made Mu Yan, who already looked young, look even more childish. “You’re in your twenties, and you’re wearing gray and black every day. You’re not forty or fifty years old.”
"Only officials are allowed to set fires, while commoners are forbidden to light lamps." Mu Yan glared at Xie Chen, who was not yet thirty-four, but was wearing a black Borbour jacket.
In Xie Chen's eyes, his outburst was no different from being scolded by Tangyuan for not giving him snacks. Xie Chen pretended not to see it and said that he had contacted a friend who was a development engineer. If the code really couldn't run, he could have his friend take a look remotely.
Mu Yan shook his head and said it wasn't a very complicated project, and he should be able to handle it.
"Yeah, I know you're very capable and can handle it yourself," Xie Chen smiled. "I'll go wash some fruit for the junior engineer. What would you like to eat?"
