Chapter 82 Do you want to hug me?

Chapter 82 Do you want to hug me?

Lu Chong looked down and, sure enough, his finger was bleeding.

The glutinous rice ball in my arms had its tail tucked between its legs, looking so pitiful that it was impossible to get angry at it.

Lu Chong sighed. It wasn't his own dog; could he really beat or scold it?

Besides, in Tangyuan's eyes, it was probably a stranger. A stranger brought it and its owner to an unfamiliar environment. It was young, so it was normal for it to have a stress reaction. It wasn't a behavior that needed special correction.

It didn't hurt much, but getting a rabies vaccine 24 hours later was a bit of a hassle. Lu Chong resigned himself to his bad luck and put Tangyuan down in the makeshift doghouse.

"Yan Yan, I'm going to the restroom first, I'll go with you to the deck later," he said to Mu Yan.

Mu Yan responded, and Lu Chong quickly went to the bathroom to treat his wound.

When he came out of the restroom, he saw Mu Yan leaning against the wall waiting at the door. Because of seasickness, his face was a little pale.

Lu Chong originally wanted to contact his subordinates waiting at Nanzhou Port and ask them to bring a doctor to help him get vaccinated, but then he thought that the less time he spent on land, the better, so he gave up the idea.

It can be done within 24 hours; we can wait until we land in Country A before launching the attack.

Shang Qiyue is a madman, and he doesn't want to confront a madman head-on, nor does he want Mu Yan to bear any risk whatsoever.

"What's wrong?" Lu Chong asked Mu Yan gently, his hand hanging at his side. The wound was small and hard to notice even if you looked closely. "There's a bathroom in the room, why are you waiting here?"

Mu Yan stepped forward, grabbed his hand hanging by his side, and looked down. The puppy's teeth marks were clearly visible.

When Tangyuan does something wrong, it looks pitiful with its tail between its legs. Whether it woke him up in the middle of the night, broke a vase, or didn't go to the toilet at its usual time, Mu Yan had a bad feeling as soon as he saw it.

The spot where Mu Yan was holding his hand felt like it was burning. Although Mu Yan quickly let go, Lu Chong was still almost stunned, staring blankly at him.

“Tangyuan hasn’t been vaccinated against rabies yet,” Mu Yan said calmly. “You need to get vaccinated. You’ll get it when you get to Nanzhou.”

“Hmm,” Lu Chong had his own plans for this matter, but he did not raise any objections in front of Mu Yan and immediately agreed, “I definitely won’t joke about something like this.”

Mu Yan breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Tangyuan had agreed. After all, Tangyuan was his own dog, and Mu Yan inevitably felt somewhat guilty for biting someone. However, Tangyuan was still young, and Lu Chong was not someone he knew well. Moreover, they were in an unfamiliar environment, and Mu Yan found it hard to bring himself to hit Tangyuan for such a thing.

Tangyuan curled up in the doghouse, looking like he knew he was wrong. Seeing that Mu Yan was a little conflicted, Lu Chong took the initiative to stop him.

"It's still too young, let's let it go this time. If it bites again next time, we can train it together... It's also my fault, knowing that a puppy only a few months old will be stressed in a strange environment, yet I still picked it up..."

"Let's go for a walk on the deck. Put on a thicker coat first, it's still a bit chilly at sea."

Mu Yan hesitated for a moment, glanced at Tangyuan huddled in the doghouse, a tiny creature with its tail between its legs, looking pitiful in the corner. He sighed, but in the end, Lu Chong persuaded it to leave after much coaxing.

He didn't bring any luggage; the clothes were all bought in advance by Lu Chong according to his size. Lu Chong put a coat and scarf on him before walking with him onto the deck.

With the air circulating on the deck, Mu Yan felt a bit better. The patrolling sailors greeted them, and Lu Chong asked him how long it would take to reach Nanzhou Port.

"About two hours," the sailor replied.

The sea breeze was damp and salty, and as it hit my face, I couldn't quite describe whether it felt comfortable or sticky, but it did make me feel a little better, even though the nausea and chest tightness were somewhat relieved.

The nearshore area was heavily polluted. Standing on the ship's railing and looking into the distance, Mu Yan saw that the glittering things were not stars, but drones.

Mu Yan also subconsciously felt a bit stressed, and he couldn't help but ask the sailor, "Are these drones... available every day?"

The sailor smiled and said, "Yes, some are for weather observation, and some are for the military, but there seem to be a lot more drones today."

Lu Chongchong gently shook his head, indicating that he didn't need to worry. Even if Shang Qiyue's people knew that they were now at sea and had confirmed their route, there was nothing they could do.

Even if he knew that Mu Yan was going to Nanzhou, so what? Lu Chong didn't want to have a direct conflict with him because he was afraid that the other person was abnormal and mentally ill, not because he was really afraid of him.

Mu Yan took motion sickness medicine once, and his complexion seemed to have regained some color. Lu Chong asked him if he wanted to take a two-hour nap on the bed now, so that he could catch his flight after getting off the ship.

Mu Yan didn't want to sleep, but he was exhausted from the whole day and was indeed a little tired. Even if he didn't sleep, lying down for a while to rest would be good.

The cruise ship slowly sailed towards Donggang, the seawater breaking into white foam on its hull. In the room, the curtains billowed in the wind, then slowly fell back down.

Mu Yan fell into a deep sleep.

Because he has something on his mind, he's been feeling very tired lately. He's sleeping a lot, but he's not getting proper rest.

Once I fall asleep, it's like sinking into a bottomless pool; I can't wake up no matter what.

The dream began with a familiar ceiling and cold white light. Mu Yan lay on the bed, her hands cuffed to the headboard with cold chains, her wrists aching with every movement.

He wasn't wearing any clothes, but the room's air conditioning was at the perfect temperature; it wasn't cold at all.

The door creaked open, and Shang Qiyue slowly walked in, gently wiping the sweat from his forehead.

"Baby." He called out to Mu Yan as usual, but his tone was chilling.

Mu Yan tried to struggle, but found that his ankles were also bound by chains. He had no strength left, and when he tried to call for help, he found that his mouth was also gagged.

He instinctively wanted to vomit and struggle, but the next second, Shang Qiyue's figure blurred before his eyes and turned into a huge black snake, cold and smooth, coiling around him and tightening its coils.

The snake hissed and flicked its tongue near his ear. Mu Yan understood; it was saying, "I love you, stay with me forever."

Mu Yan was unable to move. The snake's fangs had mercilessly bitten through his neck, and he felt excruciating pain as the cold venom seeped into his blood vessels.

He felt like he was going to die, and no one could save him.

So, I'm just going to die like this...?

Death is as light as a feather, life as insignificant as grass. Apart from him and his family, no one cares whether he lives or dies, whether he lives in pain or happiness.

Even so, he didn't want to die...

Mu Yan was breathing heavily when he finally opened his eyes.

His forehead was soaked with sweat, his clothes clung to his back, and he was covered in cold sweat.

He raised his hand and touched his neck, but there was nothing there. Yet the pain from the dream seemed to linger.

It hurts a dull ache.

We were no longer on the ship; the SUV sped along the highway, and the bushes outside the window stretched into an unbroken line in my eyes.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Lu Chong asked.

Nightmare.......

It was just a nightmare.

Mu Yan sat up from his lap, and the blanket slipped off his shoulders.

Lu Chong hesitated before opening his arms, seemingly wanting to hug him.

Mu Yan was stunned for a moment, not yet fully recovered from the startled dream.

In a daze, he seemed to have returned to the time when he had just graduated. Because his internship was not yet over and he was unsure whether he would be able to get a full-time position, he was under a lot of mental pressure and often had dreams about it.

When he wakes up from a nightmare in the middle of the night, Lu Chong will pull him into his arms and gently pat his back until he falls asleep.

The bed and blanket in the rented room were not big, so Mu Yan liked being hugged like this. It was warm, and he didn't have to worry about falling off in the middle of the night or squeezing Lu Chong off.

Lu Chong would buy his pheromone-scented perfume, a calming and tranquil vetiver scent.

Having a good memory can sometimes be a disadvantage. Even though he no longer has any affection or lingering feelings for Lu Chong, he still clearly remembers every detail of their time together.

Lu Chong seemed to have misunderstood his hesitation, paused, and immediately apologized.

"Do you want to hug me?" Mu Yan asked.

It wouldn't hurt to give her a hug.

Remuneration? Reward? He can interpret it however he wants.

“…No, no,” Lu Chong avoided his gaze, seemingly a little disappointed, “If you don’t want to, then don’t hug me. You don’t need to…reward me or anything, I don’t need those…”

"...I woke you up once when the cruise ship arrived at the station, but you were sleeping too soundly, so I let you continue sleeping."

"Have you been sleeping poorly lately, and having a lot of dreams? It might be because you didn't take good care of your health before, and you're a bit short of energy and blood. When you get there, I'll find a traditional Chinese medicine doctor to prescribe some medicine and supplements for you..."

Lu Chong kept rambling on and on, and Mu Yan felt that he was a bit unfamiliar with him, and didn't know how to respond.

If he had cared about me as much as he does now in the past, we wouldn't be in this awkward situation now, and Shang Qiyue wouldn't even exist.

Outside the car window stretched an endless runway; we were almost at the terminal.

"Will he come after us?" Mu Yan asked.

Lu Chong knew who the "he" Mu Yan was referring to was. He looked at Mu Yan and calmly shook his head: "Don't worry, it shouldn't happen."

"After the drone found us, we changed our flight path and went to Tongzhou Port in Province B, and then rushed to the airport here. It should have chased us to Nanzhou Port to block us."

“There will be his people at the airport, but it will be much easier as long as he’s not there.” Lu Chong picked up a Bluetooth headset that looked normal and put it on him. He stuffed Tangyuan into his bag and carried it himself. He told Mu Yan to get out of the car first, and he went in through another entrance.

In Mu Yan's view, everyone in the airport seemed to be in a hurry and didn't appear suspicious. However, the voice of Lu Chong's subordinate in the Bluetooth headset repeatedly told him not to turn around or look at anyone.

Following the instructions in his headset, he walked through an internal staff-only passage to the boarding area.

The boarding stairs had already descended, and the silver-white private jet was parked quietly there with the cabin door open. The captain stood at the door and immediately nodded to him upon seeing him.

In the nearby emergency exit, someone finally noticed something amiss. A man in black suddenly broke free from the obstruction and shouted, "Mr. Mu—"

The sound pierced through the wind and the low hum of the engine, reaching Mu Yan's ears clearly. Mu Yan's body stiffened, and his legs instantly went weak.

A familiar presence pressed down on him from behind, and just as he was about to fall, someone caught his arm in time.

[Author's Note]

Lu Gou clearly understands that his status in the family is inferior to that of Tang Yuan.
