Chapter 13 Are you a dog?

Chapter 13 Are you a dog?

Mu Yan was in a daze, almost unconscious. This affair had brought him only pain, exhaustion, and fear.

It hurt so much, it really hurt. It felt like being cleaved in two. Eventually, Mu Yan didn't even have the strength to cry anymore.

Betas don't have glands like alphas and omegas. When Lu Chong bit through the skin on the back of his neck, there was no ambiguity or romance in Mu Yan's mind. "He didn't even feel any obsession or possessiveness out of love, only instinctive fear."

The neck is one of the most vulnerable parts of a person's body. This is how lions and tigers bite off the nape of the neck of herbivores when they hunt.

For a fleeting moment, he genuinely believed that Lu Chong had killed him.

Lu Chong once said that his mother left him because his father was unfaithful in his marriage, and he hated people who were unfaithful in relationships the most.

Did his reaction just now mean he really felt betrayed and wanted to kill him?

But it didn't happen.

When the alpha pheromones were forcibly injected, his mind went blank, and he almost froze.

He had only ever heard that betas couldn't mark omegas, nor could they be marked by alphas, but he didn't know that alphas could inject pheromones into them.

I had no idea that being injected with pheromones would be such a miserable experience.

Her body's rejection reaction is pushing back the alpha pheromones, and she's willing to do anything to achieve it.

It felt as if every part of my body was burning, being completely shattered, and then being reforged.

My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of my throat; every thud was deafening.

"ah........"

Slow down.

Slow down, please. Mu Yan pleaded silently, whether for Lu Chong or for her own heart pounding wildly.

After an unknown amount of time, Lu Chong finally withdrew from his body.

He ignored Mu Yan, who was almost unconscious, and went to the bathroom to take a shower before slamming the bedroom door shut.

Mu Yan knew he should get up and take a shower right now, and get rid of what Lu Chong had left inside him. He couldn't get sick; even if he could apply for online work, he still had to help his brother move in a few days.

But my limbs have never felt so heavy. After my body’s rejection reaction to the pheromones ended, the high fever lingered, and my chest felt extremely tight.

He was soaked to the bone, and the evening breeze was cold, making him feel terribly unwell. But he didn't even have the strength to curl up, let alone get up to take a shower.

Tears silently streamed down my face and onto the sofa.

How could Lu Chong treat him like this?

Even during the most vulnerable period, you shouldn't...

He thought he knew Lu Chong well. Lu Chong just had a bad temper and was young. Plus, after what happened to his family, it was only natural that he felt a sense of loss.

Why did things turn out this way? He wasn't like this when he first met Lu Chong.

Lu Chong lay on the bed in his dry pajamas. Although he hadn't actually marked the omega, he recklessly bit the atrophied gland on the back of Mu Yan's neck, injecting an excessive amount of pheromones into it, as if he had truly completed a union between an alpha and an omega.

As for the price, that's what Mu Yan has to pay.

As a top-tier alpha, the effects of pheromones and the fertile period on him were far less significant than he appeared; he did this precisely to punish Mu Yan.

She's covered in the pheromones of some random guy, and she still wants to bring him home.

If he weren't there today, he would still pour tea for that wild man and sit with him on the narrow sofa that could only fit two people. The man could touch his waist and arm if he pretended to be casual.

Mu Yan deserved it.

The curtains in the room were not yet drawn. Mu Yan usually did these things. Looking out the window, where there were no stars or moon, Lu Chong felt inexplicably irritable.

Why isn't Mu Yan coming in yet? He should have finished showering by now.

I've already taught him a lesson. As long as he gets into bed, crawls closer to me, and explains that he really has nothing to do with that roommate, I'll forgive him.

That's how it's always been.

This time, he wasn't unaware that he had gone too far, but Mu Yan had always been so gentle and tolerant towards him, and he believed that Mu Yan would definitely come in and apologize to him this time as well.

While taking a shower, he could faintly hear Mu Yan sobbing amidst the sound of water.

He'll come in on his own once he's finished crying.

The cheap air conditioner kept blowing air and making a whooshing sound. After an unknown amount of time, it must have reached the set temperature, because the whooshing sound stopped.

Why hasn't Mu Yan come in yet?

Is he throwing a tantrum at himself? What right does he have to throw a tantrum?

The bed felt a little empty without the other person. Lu Chong wanted to open the door to check on the situation, but then felt that it would be a sign of weakness.

He tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. Every time he closed his eyes, he would think of Mu Yan trembling and crying. Finally, he simply took two sleeping pills that he had gotten when he first started his business and fell asleep.

Mu Yan will come in by himself. If he's going to throw a tantrum like this, then there's no need to wait anymore.

When I woke up it was already six in the morning, and there was nothing beside me.

Mu Yan did not come in.

There was no other bed in the rented room, so she preferred to sleep in the living room rather than come in and give in to him. She had really spoiled him.

Lu Chong walked into the living room and saw Mu Yan huddled on half of the sofa, covered only by a thin blanket. The blanket was so short that it revealed her fair and slender ankles.

Lu Chong turned him over. Mu Yan's face was flushed with an unnatural blush, and the loose strands of hair on his forehead were damp and sticky, as if he was sweating profusely.

Mu Yan was oblivious to his movements, but his breathing was rapid. Lu Chong was startled and quickly picked him up and put his clothes on him.

"I feel terrible..." Mu Yan woke up during this time. He gently grasped the culprit's arm, unsure whether it was because he was too weak or afraid of hurting Lu Chong while calling for help. "He probably has a fever... There's medicine in the bedroom cabinet..."

His heart was pounding heavily, and he could hear almost nothing but the drumbeat of his own heart. It felt as if something heavy was pressing on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.

"There's medicine in the bedroom closet..." Driven by her will to survive, Mu Yan repeated, "In the third closet from the left..."

"I'll take you to the hospital," Lu Chongyan replied succinctly.

Mu Yan seemed not to understand what he was saying. He seemed afraid of being abandoned, and he tightened his grip on Lu Chong's arm.

“Cold exposure, sexual violence, malicious pheromone injection…” The doctor frowned, speaking bluntly, “Are you his partner? Have you ever taken a sex education class? Injecting pheromones into a beta? Are you a dog, determined to bite?”

Mu Yan leaned against Lu Chong's chest and fell into a deep sleep. Registering, queuing, waiting—the process of going to the hospital is tedious and exhausting for ordinary people, and Mu Yan, already ill, couldn't possibly continue.

These factors, along with the doctor's reprimands, constituted the entirety of Lu Chong's dislike for hospitals where ordinary people sought medical treatment. He suppressed his dissatisfaction and said, whether to the doctor or to Mu Yan, who was unconscious in his arms, "I'm sorry, this was an accident. It won't happen again next time."

The doctor had no intention of interfering in the patient's relationship issues and didn't say anything more. He simply wrote out the prescription in a flourish: "Go get an IV drip. I've prescribed two packets. Remember to ask the nurse to change them when you're done."

Lu Chong nodded, took the order, and left with Mu Yan.

The hospital was always crowded, the air was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and the area where IV drips were administered was noisy, especially the children's cries, which were so loud that they gave Lu Chong a headache.

Mu Yan leaned against him, as weak as a wounded little animal, with a syringe sticking to the back of her thin, white hand, the veins clearly visible.

Lu Chong was somewhat afraid to look at him, staring blankly at the IV drip bottle.

It would take a very long time for a single drop to fall, and Lu Chong felt somewhat annoyed, not knowing when it would finally fall.

The person in his arms stirred slightly, and Lu Chong sensed that he was awake, but he couldn't bring himself to apologize.

The more he knew it was his fault, the less he wanted to face it. He was used to everything going smoothly, and when things didn't go his way, he instinctively didn't want to deal with them.

"Lu Chong." Mu Yan's voice was a little hoarse, and each word seemed to be squeezed out with difficulty.

"I... want to drink water."

Lu Chong had bought water beforehand, and since Mu Yan had an IV drip in her left hand, he quickly unscrewed the cap and fed it to Mu Yan.

"Are you hungry? I'll go buy you breakfast. I just noticed that there are steamed buns, porridge, egg pancakes, tofu pudding, and noodle soup. What would you like to eat?"

Mu Yan nodded with some difficulty: "Hungry... anything is fine."

Lu Chong got up, checked the IV drip and needle, and then went to buy porridge and steamed buns. He fed Mu Yan the porridge first, and the freshly steamed buns gave Mu Yan a little appetite. After eating a few bites, when Lu Chong asked him if he wanted more buns, Mu Yan shook his head wearily.

Lu Chong ate the rest of his bun in a few bites, took a tissue to wipe his mouth, and then carefully hugged him.

The moment his arm naturally reached out to him, Mu Yan's body trembled almost involuntarily.

Even through the clothes, Lu Chong could clearly feel his trembling, and glanced down at Mu Yan.

Mu Yan kept his head down, so his expression was not visible.

"Yan Yan, I..."

"Don't be afraid of me, I didn't mean to do that to you yesterday... I just felt really sad seeing you and him so intimate, and I'm in my most vulnerable period..."

"It won't happen again, I promise."
