Chapter 131 I Don't Understand

Chapter 131 I Don't Understand

Xie Chen entered very quietly, and Mu Yan only looked up at the doorway when the child in his arms cried out.

Xie Chen also looked a bit tired, but when he saw Mu Yan, his brows and eyes instantly relaxed.

"Want to hold her?" Xie Chen carried the child to the bedside. The child was a wrinkled mess, a little... ugly.

But it was as if a magical connection had been established; even though the child wasn't pretty, Mu Yan felt as if his heart was melting when he looked at her.

“You weren’t pretty when you were little either,” He Qingyun glanced at the child and thought he was a bit ugly, so she carefully comforted him, “You’ll be pretty when you grow up.”

“I don’t think it looks bad,” Xie Chen thought for a moment and said, “It’s just that the head is a little flat, the nose is a little flat, and the face is a little wrinkled... Newborn babies are all like this, it will definitely get better in a few days.”

Mu Yan didn't actually think the child was ugly, nor did he notice anything ugly about her. It was only after Xie Chen pointed out the specific things that weren't pretty that he realized the child's nose seemed a bit flat and her head a bit flat.

Mu Yan stretched out her finger and carefully touched the tip of the child's nose.

"Can a nose job be corrected?"

“Yes, you can,” He Qingyun smiled gently, reached out and lightly stroked Mu Yan’s nose, her fingers touching and then separating as if a feather were brushing against it. “Your nose was also very flat when you were born, but isn’t it pretty now?”

For a moment, Mu Yan couldn't remember what his nose looked like. He subconsciously reached out and touched his nose, where the warmth of He Qingyun's fingers seemed to still linger.

Shang Qiyue's nose... doesn't seem flat, and Yao Yao's nose could probably still be made higher.

"Alright," Xie Chen gently picked up the baby. "I'll take him to the nanny. You get some rest. Tell Aunt He what you want to eat."

“I’ll go,” He Qingyun stood up and took the child from his arms. “You stay with Yan Yan.”

Xie Chen glanced at her and noticed that she had just been crying and probably wanted to be alone. He handed the baby over and even told He Qingyun about the way the nanny had just taught him to hold the baby.

When He Qingyun saw him teaching her in reverse, she was a little taken aback for a moment, but she still took the child meticulously according to the posture Xie Chen taught her.

She closed the door and went out. Xie Chen turned around and saw Mu Yan smiling, his eyebrows and eyes curved. After the curtains were drawn, the evening sunlight fell on his face, tinting his eyelashes orange-yellow.

Xie Chen was slightly taken aback when he saw his smile, then realized what a foolish thing he had just done, and couldn't help but smile as well.

He Qingyun was clearly much more experienced than him, and he was really stupid to have turned around and taught He Qingyun how to hold a baby.

The saying goes, "Pregnancy makes you stupid for three years." Mu Yan himself can still get a 6.5 on the IELTS and write code, but he doesn't even remember this common knowledge.

"Thank you, brother," Mu Yan gently grasped his hand. "If it weren't for you, I really wouldn't have been able to get through this on my own."

"......Thank goodness we found you." Xie Chen looked at him and said. The air conditioning in the ward couldn't be set too low, and Mu Yan's hands were slightly sweaty in the summer.

The night after giving birth to Yao Yao, Mu Yan met Shang Qiyue.

The doctor said he was too weak to be visited by too many people, and no one other than He Qingyun and Xie Chen came in on the first and second days.

Shang Qiyue still had a bandage on his forehead. Mu Yan asked him why he was injured, and he said he bumped into something by accident.

Mu Yan didn't ask any more questions. After Shang Qiyue helped him sit up, he reached out and brushed his hair aside again, wanting to take another look at the injury on the back of his neck.

Shang Qiyue almost immediately bent down as if by reflex, so that Mu Yan wouldn't have to exert too much effort to raise his arm.

Mu Yan saw that hideous scar once again.

Simply cutting the gland with a blade wouldn't leave such a horrific scar; Shang Qiyue had to gouge out the gland along with the surrounding skin and flesh.

"It doesn't hurt anymore." Shang Qiyue didn't dare to look him in the eye, avoiding his gaze. "I can't see it myself normally."

"I don't understand..." Mu Yan's fingers trembled slightly as they touched the back of Shang Qiyue's neck, and tears welled up in her eyes instantly.

"Did they draw a lot of blood to give me pheromones...? Why didn't you tell me? I don't understand, I clearly..."

I don't want to see you like this at all.

I genuinely wish for you to be safe, sound, and healthy.

I'm just feeling a little uncomfortable; I don't actually need your pheromones that much.

“If I told you, you would never want my pheromones,” Shang Qiyue said.

Why do you have to do this...? Seeing you like this... how do you think I'll feel any better?

It seemed to be the first time Mu Yan had said such a thing to him since that marking incident.

Shang Qiyue, I don't really blame you that much, and I don't really hate you that much. Seeing you not doing well makes me feel heartbroken and sad.

Shang Qiyue should have been happy, but looking at Mu Yan's red and swollen eyes from crying, he only felt sad.

Mu Yan should hate him a little more; Mu Yan should hate him a little more anyway.

If he hadn't interfered, Lu Chong would have immediately returned with money to him.

There's a difference between Lu Chong admitting he lied to him and him letting Lu Chong know he lied to him.

It was he who used the money for a golf racket to bring Mu Yan over to humiliate him.

Shang Qiyue raised his hand and gently wiped away his tears with his warm fingertips.

“It’s because you’ve always been like this…” Shang Qiyue said in a low voice, “that I feel even more like a bastard.”

Mu Yan closed her eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Shang Qiyue..." Mu Yan's voice was hoarse. He really didn't know what to do. "I don't know how to face you. I really don't know if meeting you is a good thing or a bad thing for me."

"It seems like you've ruined my life... but without you, it seems like my life would have been ruined even sooner."

Shang Qiyue looked at him quietly, offering no defense for himself.

He knew now was the best time to win Mu Yan back. He and Yan Yan had a child of their own, and Yan Yan felt sorry for him and was shedding tears for him.

But when Shang Qiyue looked at Mu Yan, it seemed that he had no other thoughts besides wiping away his tears.

"Why remove the glands? They're so important to an alpha..."

But for me, Mu Yan is the most important.

"Shang Qiyue, what should I do?"

Seeing him cry, Shang Qiyue also felt a sudden urge to choke up.

"I don't know," Shang Qiyue replied.

“You can take your time to think it over. I can wait... until you make a decision, whether you change your mind or never want to see me again.”

"If you've thought it through and never want to see me again, and you feel that you'll be happier without me," Shang Qiyue laughed self-deprecatingly, "I will disappear from your sight completely."

Why was the merchant dog injured? It's so hard to guess.
