Chapter 144 Little Succubus 3

Chapter 144 Little Succubus 3

Lu Chong's gaze was calm to the point of being indifferent, his deep chestnut pupils reflecting the Pope's furious face.

“You can interpret it that way,” he said calmly. “Anyway, without my protection, the Holy See will find him sooner or later.”

The Pope's white robes fluttered without wind, and some kind of magical artifact was humming. Lu Chong looked at him without fear.

Even though the Pope possesses some divine power, Lu Chong, as the commander of the Knights, is by no means powerless to fight back.

Xie Chen stared coldly at him, the holy sword "Judgment" in his hand pointing directly at Lu Chong's throat, the tip of the sword less than an inch from the skin, the cold light reflecting on the knight commander's cold brow bone.

“Sir Knight,” Xie Chen said slowly, “are you asking me to protect a succubus?”

Lu Chong did not retreat, nor did he spare a single glance for the legendary holy sword that was said to be able to slay the God of Darkness.

His gaze went beyond the sword's edge, directly into the Pope's eyes.

“You don’t want to be enemies with the Knights, and I don’t want to be enemies with the Holy See.” He spoke calmly, as if stating a fact. “I’m about to go to war. If you insist on purifying him, even if I set off immediately to kill you, it will be at least half a month from now.”

"On this point, I really have no choice."

Xie Chen stared at him coldly without answering. Lu Chong didn't seem to be waiting for his reply either, but instead looked down at Mu Yan, who was still fast asleep.

Even as Xie Chen drew his sword against him, his other hand remained firmly around the little succubus's waist. Mu Yan, oblivious to the tense standoff between the two, continued to sleep soundly.

His tail was unconsciously wrapped around the Pope's wrist, his cheeks were flushed with a faint pink from being well-fed and rested, his lips were slightly parted, and his breathing was long and even.

“However, I don’t believe you would do that.” Lu Chong’s voice suddenly softened a bit. He paused, and a small smile appeared on his lips.

"Because my little succubus is really cute."

Xie Chen's sword tip trembled slightly.

The next second, he suddenly pressed the sword down, the cold blade pressed against Lu Chong's neck, and a thin line of blood slowly seeped out.

“Lu Chong,” the Pope’s voice was low and suppressed, “do you know what you’re doing?”

“You are challenging the authority of the Vatican and the will of the God of Light.”

Lu Chong smiled faintly, seemingly oblivious to the pain.

"Your Holiness, do you believe in the God of Light?" Lu Chong looked up at Xie Chen and asked, enunciating each word clearly.

“I don’t know what the Knight Commander is talking about,” Xie Chen’s sword tip pressed down a little more, “I haven’t killed you yet because of your father, mother, sister, and the fact that you have fought for the Holy City for many years.”

“If you continue to challenge the Holy See and the authority of the God of Light…” Xie Chen took a deep breath, “I will… kill you on the spot.”

“I once saw a nun breastfeeding her hungry child in a corner of the church. They had vowed never to marry and to dedicate their lives to God of Light,” Lu Chong said calmly. “I was just a child then and only thought the nun was kind. But now I think, how could a pure nun who had vowed to dedicate her life to God of Light have breast milk?”

“And you were there then, sitting under the statue in the distance, closing your eyes and pretending you couldn’t see it.”

"The child is starving, yet I want to investigate whether the nun who saved him betrayed God?" Xie Chen's knuckles turned white from the force, and the sharpness of the holy sword trembled in the air.

"Then I only saved a starving little succubus," Lu Chong said calmly.

Mu Yan let out a soft "woof" in its sleep, and unconsciously rubbed the tip of its tail against the Pope's wrist, as if it were being affectionate.

The horns signaling the Knights' assembly and departure for battle sounded for the first time, and Lu Chong subconsciously glanced in that direction.

"Your Majesty, I am about to go to war." Lu Chong raised his hand, gripped the blade, and forcefully pushed upwards, letting the holy sword, which could cut through a hair with a breath, slice open his palm, and blood trickled out.

“If you choose to purify him, then I truly cannot stop you.”

"All I can do is kill you with my own hands after I return from the war..." Lu Chong said slowly, "but I believe you won't do that."

Lu Chong turned around and pushed open the main door to Xie Chen's room. His shoulder armor gleamed in the sunlight, and his black hair was dyed golden.

To be fair, at least in terms of appearance and temperament, Lu Chong really resembles a devout and righteous paladin.

“I am not you, and I will never be tempted by a monster,” Xie Chen said, looking at the man’s back. “The Knight Commander is hiding a monster from the abyss, and I should be judging you right now. But since you are about to go on an expedition to defeat the Black Dragon Augustus, I will temporarily forgive your depravity and rudeness. I hope you will prove to me with your military achievements and victories that you have not completely fallen into the abyss and the trap of Nixross.”

“I will purify him immediately; it is my duty, and it is the fate that a monster deserves. If you wish, you are free to come back and kill me as well.”

Lu Chong paused, but did not turn around.

Xie Chen knew that he wouldn't dare kill him now.

If he were to die unexpectedly now while the Knights are on campaign, the Holy City would be leaderless, and villains within the city would seize the opportunity to rise up in chaos.

Even if the Knights had any complaints about the Papacy, Lu Chong should know that even the worst order is better than chaos.

When Lu Chong returns from his campaign, he will challenge him to a duel for the death of this demon, and Xie Chen will respect that request.

The succubus in his arms was like a hot potato. Xie Chen had personally purified countless demons, but those were either low-level demons without any mind and only knowing how to kill and fight, or evil demon seeds and black magicians who deserved their punishment.

The little succubus's sleeping face was serene, almost indistinguishable from that of a real teenager.

Giving him an end in his sleep is indeed a kind act.

Xie Chen silently carried the boy towards the holy water pool, which could reduce the pain felt by demons during the evolution process. Xie Chen lowered his gaze; the moment he saw the child, he saw that his soul, apart from lust, was completely untainted.

The Pope is the only person besides the God of Light who can see into a person's soul.

He lowered his head and gently brushed the little succubus's tail off his wrist with his fingers.

But not long after, the little succubus's tail wrapped around her again.

No matter how human-like a succubus may be, it is still a demon at heart. Xie Chen had never seen a demon so approachable. Especially since he possessed a divine blessing, ordinary demons should have avoided it like the plague.

Even the most well-behaved children and dogs in the holy city are not as affectionate as him.

After Xie Chen gently flicked the little succubus's tail down again, the sleeping little succubus finally got a little annoyed and let out a somewhat dissatisfied hum.

Xie Chen did not repeat that action.

A little succubus who is about to be purified...

Let's not hold it against him. He broke the vow... so be it. Xie Chen will go to the gods to repent tomorrow.

The walk from the prayer room to the holy water pool usually takes several minutes, but for some reason, it was unusually short today. When Xie Chen walked to the holy water pool and put the child down, the child woke up and rubbed his sleepy eyes.

Upon seeing the unfamiliar scene and people before him, he let out a short, soft gasp and instinctively curled up.

"Knight Commander..." Mu Yan sobbed, seemingly wanting to turn to the person she knew best for help, "Who are you? I need to find the Knight Commander..."

"Look up." A cold and authoritative voice came from above. He did not answer Mu Yan's question, but used a commanding tone as always.

Mu Yan cautiously raised his face, and the first thing that caught his eye was the hem of a snow-white priest's robe embroidered with the Oranjali Bible in gold thread. Following the smooth silk upwards, he saw the man looking down at him, his deep gray eyes filled with a compassionate smile.

The moment their eyes met, the man raised his hand, and a pair of holy silver shackles appeared between Mu Yan's feet.

Those were shackles the size of those worn by ordinary criminals, but for the little succubus who was even thinner than an average fourteen or fifteen-year-old boy, they were far too big and heavy.

The shackles pressed down on Mu Yan's fair instep, and he subconsciously spread his legs apart so that the weight of the shackles would not be entirely on his instep.

Mu Yan didn't know what the significance of this action was in human society; he could only feel the gaze above him growing increasingly intense, which terrified him.

He instinctively shrank back while maintaining his previous posture, bracing himself with his hands behind him, the silver shackles on his ankles rattling.

He only took a few steps back before reaching the edge of the pool.

Because of fear, tears fell involuntarily. Mu Yan dared not look up at the man, but only cried and begged the man to let him go to find the Knight Commander in a weak, breathless voice.

"Silence." Xie Chen suddenly leaned down and pressed his gloved thumb against his lips. "This is a sanctuary. You must not speak carelessly."

Mu Yan nodded fearfully. The man was so imposing that he momentarily forgot to think about what unspeakable taboo it was to want to find Lu Chong.

As the man drew closer, Mu Yan finally saw his features clearly. Although he hadn't seen many people, Mu Yan could tell that his features were exceptionally outstanding, as handsome and elegant as a sculpture.

The Knight Commander...

"Ugh!" The man's slightly cold fingers slipped into Mu Yan's collar, interrupting his inappropriate reverie. Mu Yan tensed up abruptly, letting out a gasp.

The next second, his voice was forcibly silenced.

Xie Chen's index and middle fingers suddenly probed into his slightly parted lips. Just as Mu Yan was about to resist, the silk-wrapped knuckles pressed against his tongue and pushed deeper without resistance.

Mu Yan's pupils suddenly contracted, and he instinctively wanted to bite down, but the Pope held his jaw with his thumb.

"I said, keep quiet. I need to examine you." The Pope's voice was gentler than before. "To examine whether you have been corrupted by the abyss, so that I can purify you."

Mu Yan trembled all over, and a weak sob escaped his throat.

The silk fabric, soaked in saliva, gradually became transparent.

Mu Yan could clearly feel the man's knuckles mimicking a more lewd rhythm in his mouth, each penetration almost reaching his throat, forcing him to shed physiological tears.

"Good boy/girl, if you cooperate well, it will be over soon."

As he praised him, his fingers tightened, the pads of his fingers maliciously grinding against Mu Yan's palate, sending a violent shiver through him.

Mu Yan's vision went white, and saliva uncontrollably spilled from the corner of his lips, dripping down his chin and onto his already disheveled clothes.
