Chapter 12 She regretted not listening to her parents.

Chapter 12 She regretted not listening to her parents.

"Why are you keeping the property certificate at the company? Are you trying to keep me at bay?" Li Man pressed.

A hint of displeasure flashed in Huang Dehan's eyes. "What's wrong with you today? Are you trying to start a fight?"

"Don't change the subject. I'm asking you a question. Answer my question first."

"I went to take the property certificate to do some business and left it at the company, okay?" Huang Dehan said angrily, "Is the way you talk to me that you don't trust me? I work myself to the bone outside, and when I get home, this is how you treat me?"

Huang Dehan changed the subject, criticizing Riemann in an attempt to make her feel guilty and give up asking questions.

He knew Riemann too well, because Riemann was too soft-hearted.

But today, Riemann seemed determined to get to the bottom of it: "What are you going to do with the property certificate?"

Huang Dehan was somewhat exasperated and said angrily, "What's wrong with you today? As soon as I got home, you asked me about the property certificate. The property certificate? Did you listen to some nonsense?"

"How could you have imagined someone would talk nonsense in front of me?" Riemann asked. "Did you do something to wrong me?"

Huang Dehan visibly panicked and quickly said, "Nonsense, how could I possibly do anything to betray you?"

Li Man looked at Huang Dehan and said meaningfully, "I hope you won't do anything to betray me, otherwise..."

She deliberately dragged out the last syllable, wanting to see Huang Dehan's reaction.

"Otherwise what?" Huang Dehan roared in anger, "Have I mistreated you all these years? Have I shortchanged you on food or clothing? And you treat me like this? Don't you have any conscience? I'm working outside, suffering all kinds of grievances, while you stay at home all day thinking nonsense. Do you even want to live a normal life?"

After saying that, Huang Dehan seemed to remember something and looked at her with sympathy, "Manman, what's wrong with you lately? Is it because Mom's passing was too much of a blow to you? How about I go with you to see a psychologist tomorrow?"

As Riemann watched Huang Dehan's performance, she suddenly felt that the man in front of her was very unfamiliar and disgusting.

"No need." Riemann was in no mood for further nonsense and got down to business. "Bring the property certificate back to me tomorrow."

Huang Dehan went to great lengths, thinking he had avoided the topic of property ownership certificates, but he didn't expect Li Man to keep pressing him.

Huang Dehan was so angry he jumped up and down, "What's wrong with you today? Are you trying to pick a fight? I can't be bothered with you!"

After saying that, he went into the bedroom and slammed the door shut.

Looking at the closed door, Li Man felt a chill run through her body; all her efforts over the past twelve years had been for nothing.

From age 26 to 37, she gave the best years of her youth to this man. To be with him, she broke with her family. To take care of his paralyzed mother, she worked herself into a state of illness. Yet, he betrayed her and transferred their joint property.

Oh!

Could we be any crueler to her?

She truly regretted it; she regretted not listening to her mother and insisting on marrying Huang Dehan. She really regretted it.

Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Li Man held her phone, wanting to call her parents and apologize, but despite entering their numbers several times, she couldn't bring herself to press the call button.

Huang Dehan locked the bedroom door from the inside, so Li Man had to go to her daughter's bedroom to sleep.
