Chapter 184 At the Seaside
Riemann drove aimlessly through the streets. She hadn't had breakfast yet; she had intended to take her daughter out to eat, but her daughter had treated her that way.
Before she knew it, she had driven her car to the seaside.
She opened the car door and got out. The wind blew through her hair. She took off her shoes and stepped barefoot onto the beach.
The warm sunlight shone on her, but she felt cold all over.
Her chest felt like it was blocked by a wet rag; she opened her mouth, but tears rolled down her cheeks silently.
She felt like a complete failure as a person. Her husband betrayed her, and her daughter didn't recognize her. She didn't know why things had turned out this way.
She really couldn't understand why, after honestly and dutifully serving her mother-in-law, taking care of her husband's daily life, caring about her daughter's studies and life, and diligently managing the household chores and keeping the family in good order, she ended up like this.
If we have to say she made a mistake, it's that she took too good care of others and neglected her own feelings.
She only thinks about other people's feelings, but never about her own.
She remembers everyone's birthday in her family and celebrates theirs, but no one ever remembers her birthday or celebrates it for her.
What's frightening is that she actually thought this was normal; she believed it was the norm in life.
My husband is so busy with work, how can he have the energy to remember these trivial matters? My daughter is still young, so it's normal that she doesn't remember. My mother-in-law is lying in bed suffering from illness and doesn't even know what year it is, so how could she possibly remember her own birthday?
Of the whole family, she was the most "free," so it was normal for her to remember everyone's birthdays.
Thinking of all this, she couldn't help but burst into tears.
She woke up too late.
Just then, a cell phone rang in the car. Li Man trembled, thinking it was her daughter calling her back. She quickly wiped away her tears, ran over, opened the car door, and took out her phone.
Upon seeing the caller ID, the smile that had just appeared on her lips faded.
It wasn't my daughter calling.
She pressed the answer button.
"Huo Jiansheng, what's the matter?" Li Man asked in a hoarse voice.
The wind was strong at the beach, howling loudly.
Hearing the sound of wind coming from the other end of the phone, Huo Jiansheng asked curiously, "Where are you?"
“I’m at the beach,” Riemann replied calmly.
As if sensing something amiss in Li Man's voice, Huo Jiansheng asked, "Are you crying again?"
Li Man didn't know how to respond to Huo Jiansheng; it seemed that she cried every time she saw him.
Unable to get a response from the other end of the phone, Huo Jiansheng sighed: "Wait for me, I'm coming to find you, I have something to tell you."
“Okay!” Riemann replied.
Send me your location.
After hanging up Huo Jiansheng's call, Li Man sent him her location.
After sending his location, Riemann walked to the beach and sat down.
When Huo Jiansheng arrived, he saw Li Man sitting alone on the beach, her hands wrapped around her knees. She looked so frail, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.
A shadow fell over her, and Riemann squinted as she looked up, saying in a calm voice, "You've come."
Huo Jiansheng sat down beside her, turned his head to look at her, and asked with concern, "What's wrong? Why are you crying again? Is business not good?"
Riemann gently shook her head. "No, business is very good."
"Then why are you crying again? Is it because of Huang Dehan?" Huo Jiansheng asked again.
Li Man shook her head, her voice choked with emotion, and said, "My daughter told me never to call her again, saying she doesn't have a mother like me."
