Chapter 211 Hiring a Caregiver
Li Man looked at Huo Jiansheng quietly. This was the first time she had looked at him so closely and without any reservations. He had a resolute and handsome face with deep features and a high nose bridge.
When he was asleep, Huo Jiansheng was not as aloof as usual, and the lines of his facial features were much softer.
With Huo Jiansheng holding her hand, Li Man felt the warmth from his large hand and inexplicably felt at ease. She unconsciously softened her breathing, afraid of waking him.
Before she knew it, Riemann had drifted off to sleep again.
When he woke up again, he saw Chen Xiaohui.
A strange sense of loss welled up in Riemann's heart.
"You're awake."
Seeing that Riemann had woken up, Chen Xiaohui was very happy and stepped forward to ask, "How are you feeling? Are you hungry? Would you like some water?"
Riemann nodded and said with difficulty, "Thirsty!"
Chen Xiaohui quickly picked up the water glass on the bedside table, scooped some water with a spoon, and brought it to Riemann's lips.
Riemann drank a few spoonfuls and then stopped.
Chen Xiaohui put down her water glass and said, "Luckily, Mr. Huo arrived in time last night, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do. I originally thought that someone was jealous of our business, so they came to cause trouble, but later I found out that those people were after you."
A flash of hatred crossed Riemann's eyes. "It must have been Huang Dehan who did it."
Chen Xiaohui nodded. "That's what I think too. I told the police the same thing, but I don't know if they arrested him."
The police did indeed look for Huang Dehan, but Huang Dehan was lying in a hospital bed and couldn't even speak.
Huang Dehan was seriously injured. His spleen was removed due to massive bleeding, he lost two front teeth, and two ribs were broken.
When the police asked him who had beaten him up, he dared not say anything.
In the end, the police couldn't get any more information from him, so they left.
“He’s very smart and careful. Unless they catch the people who hit me and identify them, they won’t be able to catch Huang Dehan,” Li Man said.
Chen Xiaohui said angrily, "Every time I call the police, they can't catch him. It's infuriating!"
"I'm sorry, I've dragged you into this," Riemann said guiltily.
"Don't say that. It's not your fault. Don't think about it too much," Chen Xiaohui quickly comforted her.
Riemann sighed and said sadly, "I'm so badly injured that I can't set up a stall anymore."
"If you can't finish, just take a break for a while. It's no big deal. I also want to rest for a bit; I've been too tired these past few days." Chen Xiaohui said this deliberately to make Li Man less upset.
But how could Riemann not see it?
We've finally built up a loyal customer base, and if we close for a few days, we risk losing them all.
After thinking for a moment, Riemann said, "Why don't we ask someone for help?"
"Hire someone?"
"Yes, hiring a barbecue chef will make things easier for us in the future."
Chen Xiaohui hesitated and said, "But what about you? Who will take care of you?"
"You can hire a caregiver for me. Once I can get out of bed and walk, I won't need to hire anyone anymore. I can take care of myself by myself."
“This…” Chen Xiaohui hesitated.
"Let's do it this way. It would be such a waste to close down; we'd easily lose customers."
Chen Xiaohui thought Li Man's words made sense, so she agreed, "Then I'll go find a barbecue chef in a bit."
"OK!"
The two chatted for a while longer, then Chen Xiaohui fed Li Man some porridge before leaving.
When she was about to leave, she hired a caregiver for Riemann to take care of her 24 hours a day.
