Chapter 3: Those were tough times.

Chapter 3: Those were tough times.

Huang Dehan came from a poor family. His father died in a traffic accident when he was very young, and the insurance company paid out a large sum of money, which his mother used to raise him. In his senior year of college, his mother suffered a brain hemorrhage due to overwork and became paralyzed.

Riemann's parents were adamant about not being able to have her with him, saying that if she married into such a family, she would suffer for the rest of her life and have to take care of a bedridden mother-in-law. They said, "When will this ever end?"

But Riemann was convinced that Huang Dehan was ambitious, a promising talent, and would definitely achieve great things in the future.

As it turned out, Riemann's judgment was correct. After graduating from university, Huang Dehan joined a well-known company in Shenzhen with a very promising annual salary. Soon after, he bought a house and a car in Shenzhen.

Back then, Li Man stole her family's household registration book to register her marriage with Huang Dehan.

They didn't have a wedding ceremony, but they got their marriage certificate, bought groceries, cooked a big meal, and that was it.

They got married without any dowry, house, car, or gold jewelry—nothing at all.

It was a true "naked marriage" (marriage without any financial support).

When Riemann's parents found out, they were so angry that they severed ties with her. They haven't had any contact with her since.

Riemann sat blankly in the driver's seat, his eyes glazed over, as if he had lost his soul.

They have a daughter named Huang Duoduo, who is eleven years old and in the sixth grade of elementary school. She is smart and beautiful, and has inherited all the best features of her parents.

When they first got married, they had a tough time. Li Man was pregnant but still working until she was nine months pregnant, and only then did she go home to rest as her due date approached.

After giving birth, Riemann resigned.

Because no one helps her take care of the child, and her mother-in-law also needs her care.

When she was in postpartum confinement, Huang Dehan only got half a month's leave. He took care of her at home for half a month before going back to work.

However, every day before going to work, Huang Dehan would get up early to make soup and cook rice for Li Man.

He cooks a lot, enough for the whole day before going to work.

After get off work, he bought groceries, went home to cook, and washed all the diapers and clothes he had accumulated throughout the day.

In this way, Riemann wouldn't have to work so hard; she could just focus on taking care of the children.

As for Huang Dehan's mother, Huang Dehan dressed her in adult underwear. If she defecated or urinated, she could only wait until Huang Dehan came home to change her.

Riemann only needs to feed her mother-in-law every day.

However, feeding an elderly person who is paralyzed in bed is not an easy task.

Sometimes, before I've even finished feeding my mother-in-law, the child starts fussing again.

Li Man was busy with both things and was overwhelmed. She didn't take good care of herself during her postpartum period and ended up with postpartum illnesses.

Even so, Riemann never complained, nor did she feel any hardship.

Later, their lives got better and better, and Huang Dehan became busier and busier. The heavy responsibility of taking care of his mother-in-law suddenly fell on Li Man's shoulders.

She had to take care of the children and her mother-in-law, do laundry, cook, and clean up after them. She was busy and overwhelmed every day.

Back then, let alone "having sex," she would fall asleep as soon as her head hit the bed; she had no interest in thinking about that kind of thing.

Sometimes Huang Dehan wanted it, and she couldn't refuse, so she would reluctantly comply. While Huang Dehan was working hard, she would be fast asleep.

After several times, Huang Dehan lost interest in sex.

Looking back now, it seems that from that time on, they almost stopped having sex.

As her child grew older, things became easier for her. With the child in school, she could finally get a full night's sleep.

Last year, her back pain became so severe that Huang Dehan hired a live-in housekeeper for her.

With a live-in nanny, Li Man's life became much easier, and she had time to go shopping, have tea, get her hair done, and get beauty treatments with her friends.
