Chapter 122 Choice
The next morning, Ye Wanning got up early and did morning exercises in the yard.
"Sister." Ye Wanning looked up and saw Cui'er swivel her chair and walk towards her with a smile. "Why are you up so early today?"
Ye Wanning quickly went to greet her. She smiled at Cui'er, "You went to bed early yesterday, so you got up early today." As she spoke, Ye Wanning stepped forward, took Cui'er's wheelchair, looked at her, and asked with concern, "Why did you come today? How's your foot?"
"Much better." Cui'er pursed her lips, then turned her head to look around. After a pause, she looked at Ye Wanning, leaned close to her ear, and whispered, "Sister, I heard that the Fourth Prince found out about what happened yesterday. Is there any...?"
"Of course not." Ye Wanning smiled and shook her head. Fortunately, Su Wenzhen didn't bring it up again last night, otherwise she really wouldn't know how to explain it. She pushed Cui'er into the courtyard. "The weather is very nice today." As she spoke, Ye Wanning looked up at the sky. "Come and bask in the sun."
"Hmm." Cui'er nodded, then looked at Ye Wanning with a strange expression in her eyes, "Sister..."
"What's wrong?" Seeing that Cui'er's face didn't look good, Ye Wanning squatted down next to Cui'er and asked in a low voice, "What happened?"
"The matter of the Third Prince..."
Before Cui'er could even speak, Ye Wanning abruptly silenced her, covering her mouth with her hand and staring intently at her with wide eyes. "You must never mention this again!"
Seeing Ye Wanning's solemn expression, Cui'er quickly nodded.
Seeing this, Ye Wanning breathed a sigh of relief and then let go of Cui'er's hand. She looked at Cui'er and then frowned: "Just pretend you don't know anything about this." Since no one asked, it's better to pretend that this never happened. Thinking this, Ye Wanning's eyes darkened slightly. The more she said, the more mistakes she would make. At times like this, she should be more careful.
"Understood." Cui'er nodded, but her brows were still furrowed. Although she was full of doubts, she looked up at Ye Wanning. Since Ye Wanning had said so, then... she would do it!
After a long silence, as if she had thought of something, Ye Wanning turned her head to look at Cui'er, her eyes full of inquiry. She blinked and said, "Cui'er, there is something I want to ask you."
"Huh?" Cui'er was taken aback, looking at Ye Wanning with some confusion. "What is it? Sister, just tell me."
"Well..." Ye Wanning pursed her lips, and after a while, she spoke somewhat shyly, "What do you think of Su Wenyan?"
"The Fourth Prince?" Cui'er was taken aback, clearly not understanding why Ye Wanning would suddenly bring him up. After a pause, she looked at Ye Wanning and replied, somewhat puzzled, "I think... the Fourth Prince is a very good person, and very kind. He's very good to you, sister..." As if suddenly realizing something, Cui'er's face darkened, and she looked at Ye Wanning, her voice trembling, "Sister... you wouldn't be......"
Noticing the strange expression on Cui'er's face, Ye Wanning immediately understood what Cui'er was thinking. She felt a bit embarrassed and looked at Cui'er, saying helplessly, "What are you thinking about?"
Seeing that Ye Wanning didn't object, Cui'er grew increasingly anxious. She quickly grabbed Ye Wanning's sleeve and cried out, "Sister! You can't! That Fourth Prince is... he's... he's the Prince's own brother!"
"I knew you were thinking such unreliable things!" Ye Wanning felt her veins bulge as she reached out and flicked Cui'er's forehead. "Can't you be more careful? How could you be!"
“But…” Cui’er touched her forehead, looking at Ye Wanning with a puzzled expression, “But why did you suddenly say that…”
"It's all because of you!" Before Cui'er could finish speaking, Ye Wanning roared fiercely.
"Why is it for me..." Cui'er was startled, suddenly realizing Ye Wanning's implied meaning. Her cheeks flushed red, and she seemed too ashamed to lift her head. "Sister...you...I..."
"What do you mean, 'what do you mean'? What do I mean, 'what do you mean'?" Seeing Cui'er's expression, Ye Wanning felt overjoyed. It seemed she had a chance! She smacked her lips twice, looked at Cui'er, and asked with shining eyes, "Don't you also think he's good?"
“The Fourth Prince is indeed a good man…” Cui’er lowered her head, paused, and then said, “but…”
"Just what?" Hearing Cui'er's words, Ye Wanning was taken aback, and her heart tightened involuntarily. "You wouldn't be...?"
“I just think the Fourth Prince is a very nice person…” Cui’er gripped Ye Wanning’s sleeve tighter, “But… I don’t have those kinds of feelings for the Fourth Prince…”
"It's over..." Seeing Cui'er's appearance, Ye Wanning shook her head helplessly. Recalling Su Wenyan's appearance yesterday, Ye Wanning couldn't help but sigh. It seems that guy... has no chance!
But... Ye Wanning bit her lip and looked at Cui'er, who was looking down, "Cui'er, do you have someone you like?"
Upon hearing this, Cui'er suddenly raised her head, stared at Ye Wanning for a moment, and then blushed as if she were about to bleed. "Sister...you..."
"Is it Jiang Hai?" Ye Wanning looked at Cui'er, her eyes suddenly darkening. "Tell me, is it him?"
"Sister...I..." Seemingly frightened by Ye Wanning's gaze, Cui'er looked at Ye Wanning and said tremblingly, "I...I..."
"What?" Ye Wanning frowned. "You denied it so quickly when Su Wenyan was mentioned, but now that Jiang Hai is mentioned, why can't you say anything?"
“I…” Cui’er bit her lip, unable to utter another word.
"Cui'er..." Seeing Cui'er's appearance, Ye Wanning could no longer hold back her questioning. She looked at Cui'er, sighed, and then shook her head helplessly, "I'm afraid of you..."
“Young Master Jiang is a good person…” Before Ye Wanning could finish speaking, Cui’er suddenly interrupted, looking up at Ye Wanning with clear eyes, “Young Master Jiang… he’s not as… complicated as you think, sister…”
"I..." Ye Wanning was speechless, stunned by Cui'er's words. She looked at Cui'er for a while before finally speaking, "Since that's the case..." Ye Wanning pursed her lips, "Then I won't stop you, but..." Ye Wanning suddenly smiled at Cui'er, her tone full of meaning, "You must take good care of yourself!" She would naturally investigate Jiang Hai!
No sooner had she finished speaking than Steward Li suddenly walked in, "Your Highness."
Ye Wanning was taken aback and turned to look at Butler Li. "What is it?"
"News just came from the palace that the Crown Prince and the second young lady of the Ye family will be getting married tomorrow. We thought we would invite you and the Prince over today so that we can have a meal together as a family."
"Eat?" Ye Wanning was taken aback when she heard Butler Li say that. She turned her head and saw that Cui'er also looked puzzled. Indeed, what was the point of eating at this time?
Ye Wanning felt a vein throb on her forehead. She looked at Steward Li and asked with some confusion, "What did the Prince say?"
"His Highness said it all depends on what the Princess says." With that, Steward Li looked up at Ye Wanning, "Princess, the carriage is ready, what do you think..."
Does this mean they're going to have a family dinner? Ye Wanning felt a bit overwhelmed. After a pause, she looked at Butler Li and asked, "Did he say anything else?"
“No…” Butler Li frowned, seemingly recalling what Su Wenzhen had told him. After a while, he looked at Ye Wanning and asked, “Then, Your Highness…”
Ye Wanning frowned, completely baffled as to what Su Wenyi was up to. After a while, she looked at Steward Li and asked hesitantly, "Where is the Prince now?"
"His Highness is in his study," Butler Li said, bowing his head. "He said that if the Princess Consort wants to go, she should go directly to his study to find him."
Hearing this, Ye Wanning was taken aback, then looked at Butler Li, "What if we don't go?"
"The Prince said..." Steward Li paused, then replied somewhat helplessly, "that he's not going either..."
What the hell! Ye Wanning felt utterly exasperated. She looked at Steward Li for a while before saying, "I can't let His Highness throw a tantrum." Then, she sighed, seemingly helplessly, "Let's go to the study."
