Chapter 46 Warmth

Chapter 46 Warmth

Ye Wanning cried herself to sleep in Su Wenzhen's arms. When she woke up again, she was already in the Prince's mansion.

She opened her eyes and saw Cui'er standing to the side, feeling as if the experiences of the past few days were a dream.

"Ouch!" Ye Wanning was about to get out of bed when she found that her back was hurting terribly.

"Sister!" Seeing Ye Wanning's appearance, Cui'er's eyes reddened, and she immediately stepped forward to support her. "Sister, you'd better not move."

Ye Wanning was startled, a sharp pain shooting through her back. She looked at Cui'er in confusion, "What's wrong with me?"

Cui'er sniffed, her voice choked with emotion, and said, "Sister, don't you remember? Your back is covered in marks from sticks!" Cui'er muttered softly, her tone full of resentment, "I don't know which damned person hit you so hard, sister, you suffered so much..."

A stick mark? Ye Wanning was stunned. She remembered what happened in the prison that day. She had shielded Qiu Shan from the stick, but Qiu Shan still... Ye Wanning couldn't help but feel anxious and nauseous.

Seeing Ye Wanning's pale appearance, Cui'er was startled and quickly asked, "Sister, are you alright? Is something still bothering you?"

Ye Wan steadied herself, paused for a moment, and said weakly, "It's nothing."

Cui'er sighed and lowered her head. "If only my sister and I had gone to the palace together back then, I would never have let my sister get hurt."

If Cui'er were to go too... Ye Wanning was taken aback. Qiu Shan's death was already a huge blow to her. If Cui'er were to go too... Ye Wanning couldn't bear to imagine it and shook her head repeatedly. "It's alright. It's all in the past. Let's not talk about it anymore."

Seeing that Ye Wanning was not in high spirits, Cui'er knew that the events in the palace had been a great blow to her princess. She glanced at Ye Wanning with eyes full of pity, "Sister is awake, she should eat something. What would you like to eat? I'll ask Granny Sun to make it and bring it over."

During her days in prison, although there was food, Ye Wanning barely ate anything for various reasons. Now she was quite hungry, so she nodded and said, "Just ask Granny Sun to make something simple!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Su Wenzhen and Su Wenyan walked in from outside.

"Your Majesty has just woken up and is injured, so you should eat something light first." Su Wenyan glanced at Cui'er, "Tell Granny Sun to cook some plain porridge and bring it over."

Ye Wanning's mood improved considerably upon seeing Su Wenzhen beside her. She smiled and asked, "What brings you here?"

"It's all because of my brother, the emperor. He keeps asking for you as soon as he can't see you for a while." Su Wenyan rolled his eyes. "When I heard you were awake, I couldn't stop him from coming to see you."

Ye Wanning smiled and waved to Su Wenzhen, "Wenzhen, come here."

Having received the order, Su Wenzhen walked towards Ye Wanning, gently sat down on the edge of the bed, and looked at Ye Wanning with the demeanor of a submissive wife, "Wife, they all say you are injured, are you still in pain?"

"It doesn't hurt anymore." Ye Wanning smiled. "I stopped hurting as soon as Wenzhen came."

Upon hearing this, Su Wenzhen immediately widened his eyes, staring at Ye Wanning with teary eyes, "Wife, is what you said true?"

Ye Wanning nodded, "Of course, I didn't lie to my Wenzhen."

Seeing the two of them, Su Wenyan felt a chill. Were they showing off their affection in front of him, a lonely bachelor? He glanced at Ye Wanning, but saw no other emotion in her expression. Su Wenyan was taken aback. His sister-in-law seemed... to have no negative feelings at all...

Ye Wanning turned her head and inadvertently caught a glimpse of Su Wenyan's puzzled look. She then smiled at him and said, "Wenyan, don't worry, I'm fine."

Seeing Ye Wanning say this, Su Wenyan didn't ask any more questions. He glanced at Su Wenzhen, thinking that if his sister-in-law was really alright, his brother's guilt would probably be lessened.

Seeing Ye Wanning and Su Wenzhen getting along well, Su Wenyan coughed twice. "Sister-in-law, I won't disturb you two any longer. My brother hasn't seen you these past few days and has been talking about you constantly." He smiled and said, "Now that you're back, I'm returning this big burden of my brother to you. He's been giving me a hard time these past two days."

Hearing this, Ye Wanning chuckled, squinted her eyes, and waved her hand, "Go ahead." She naturally knew Wen Zhen's unruly nature.

Not long after Su Wenyan left, Cui'er brought in a bowl of white porridge. "Sister, the porridge is here." Looking up, she saw Su Wenzhen sitting by the bed. Cui'er was startled and stammered, "Your...Your...Your Highness..."

Su Wenzhen withdrew his gaze from Ye Wanning. He had just heard the maid call Wanning "sister," what was going on? He looked at Cui'er and asked with some confusion, "Who is your sister..."

Upon hearing Su Wenzhen's question, Cui'er was startled and hurriedly knelt down, "Your Highness...this servant...this servant..."

Seeing Cui'er's terrified appearance, Ye Wanning frowned. Why was this girl still so timid? She coughed lightly twice, "Cui'er, get up first. Wenzhen doesn't understand these things, so don't be afraid."

As she spoke, she looked at Su Wenzhen and said, "Wenzhen, I've wanted to tell you this for a long time. Cui'er has been very good to me, and I also want to be good to Cui'er, so I recognized her as my younger sister." She smiled and said, "From now on, we are family."

Hearing this, Su Wenzhen remained silent. He had seen it all these days; this girl was indeed sincere towards Wan Ning. If Wan Ning had someone like this by her side, she would probably have less trouble in the future. So, after a long silence, he said, "Okay."

Hearing Su Wenzhen say this, Cui'er knew that he had tacitly agreed. She looked up and secretly glanced at Su Wenzhen. Everyone said that Prince Jin was stupid, but why did she feel that Prince Jin was unusually dangerous just now?

Cui'er composed herself, dismissing her doubts. She stood up, glanced at Ye Wanning, and asked, "Sister... would you like to eat this porridge now?"

"Put her down and go, I'll feed her."

Cui'er looked towards the source of the voice and was startled to see Su Wenzhen. Ye Wanning was clearly frightened by Su Wenzhen's words, and she looked at him in surprise, "Wenzhen...you..."

Seeing Ye Wanning's suspicious look, Su Wenzhen pouted and said with a hint of resentment, "What's wrong? Can't I feed my wife porridge?"

"No, no." She just didn't seem like a fool at all just now. I thought you... Ye Wanning thought to herself. She turned her head and saw that Su Wenzhen's face was full of displeasure. She could only wave her hand helplessly, "Cui'er, you can go down."

Seeing Cui'er retreat, Su Wenzhen's expression softened a bit. He stood up, picked up the porridge beside him, and gently scooped a spoonful to Ye Wanning's lips. "Wife, why do you want to be family with Cui'er?"

"Huh?" Ye Wanning was taken aback, then realized what she meant and said, "Because Cui'er is good to me, I don't want to be separated from her." As she spoke, she ate the spoonful of white porridge. It was probably because Granny Sun was afraid that the porridge would be bland that she added a little salt, which made it taste much better.

"Then..." Su Wenzhen looked at Ye Wanning with some anticipation, "Wife, are we family?"

Hearing this, Ye Wanning couldn't help but find it a little funny, "We're family, after all."

Hearing Ye Wanning say that, Su Wenzhen became interested and excitedly said, "Then the two of us will never be separated, right?"

Seeing Su Wenzhen staring at her pitiful appearance, Ye Wanning nodded helplessly. This guy really is...

Suddenly, as if he had thought of something, Su Wenzhen stared straight at Ye Wanning, as if he had made a great decision, and finally asked, "Then, my wife, do you like me more or Cui'er more?"

Ye Wanning's face darkened. Was this some kind of competition for favor? She rolled her eyes and snapped, "Drink the porridge!"
