Chapter 86 What's wrong with my family?
After returning from the palace, Ye Wanning locked herself in her room and refused to open the door no matter who called her.
Cui'er stood outside the door, sighing repeatedly. She looked up at Granny Sun beside her and said helplessly, "Granny Sun, what do you think we should do?"
Granny Sun shook her head and glanced into the room. "This all happened so suddenly, and Miss just had a fight with the Prince. This time..." Granny Sun sighed, "I don't know what to do..."
Cui'er felt annoyed. She had witnessed what happened in the palace and couldn't say who was right and who was wrong. The prince had no choice but to accept those beauties in that place. But... she looked into the courtyard. Since returning from the palace, the prince hadn't come to see her sister. Could it be that he had really found a new love and forgotten his old one?
Thinking about it, Cui'er stepped forward and gently knocked on the closed door, "Sister."
There was a noise coming from inside, indicating that someone was indeed inside. However, after waiting for a long time without any response from Ye Wanning, Cui'er became anxious and knocked on the door again. "Sister, are you alright?"
Still, there was silence. Cui'er was startled and looked at Granny Sun with a sense of panic. There had been noises inside the room just now, but now there was no sound at all. Had her young mistress done something foolish? Granny Sun seemed to have thought of this as well. The two of them changed their expressions and immediately started knocking on the door.
"Sister! Please don't do anything foolish!" Cui'er's face was full of anxiety.
“Yes, yes!” Granny Sun said anxiously, “It’s unavoidable for the prince to take a concubine, you mustn’t…”
"Who said I'm suicidal!" The two were just leaning back when the door was opened from the inside. Ye Wanning stood in the doorway, looking at the two people in front of her with an impatient expression.
Seeing Ye Wanning finally emerge, Cui'er breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at Ye Wanning, she said with lingering fear, "Sister, you really scared me to death! I thought you..."
"What's wrong with me?" Ye Wanning rolled her eyes and looked at Cui'er with some annoyance, saying, "I was just thinking about something, but you and Granny Sun kept arguing outside, which interrupted my train of thought."
"I was just worried about you." Cui'er smiled awkwardly, sticking out her tongue sheepishly. Turning her head, she was surprised to find that Ye Wanning showed no signs of being upset. "Sister, are you... alright?"
Ye Wanning didn't answer. She turned to look at Granny Sun, then walked into the house. "Granny Sun, why are you back?"
"It's all because of Cui'er." Granny Sun smiled and followed Ye Wanning into the house. "She ran over to me early this morning, saying that something big had happened in the manor and that you, Miss, were refusing to see anyone, so I came back."
"It's not that serious." Ye Wanning glanced behind Granny Sun and waved her fist in feigned anger. "That girl is always looking for trouble."
“I didn’t!” Cui’er interrupted, somewhat displeased. “It’s clearly…”
"So what?" Ye Wanning rolled her eyes at Cui'er. "Isn't it just your imagination? What could possibly happen to me?"
“But…” Cui’er looked at Ye Wanning, her face full of grievance, “It just so happens that at this time, the manor has welcomed so many new people, and you, sister…”
"So what?" Ye Wanning waved her hand, somewhat impatiently saying, "I never took this to heart in the first place."
Cui'er was taken aback and asked, "Really...?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Ye Wanning glared at her fiercely, then turned to look at Granny Sun, "If I had known, I would have let this girl go to the cloth shop to help out. She's so good at causing trouble; it's a waste of her talent if she doesn't go into business."
“Your Highness is right,” said Granny Sun, her eyes narrowing with a smile. “This girl certainly needs more discipline.”
"I think so too." Ye Wanning tapped her fingers lightly on the table, turned her head and saw Cui'er's angry but dared not speak, which she found a little funny. After a pause, she looked at Granny Sun and asked, "How is the cloth shop's business?"
Upon hearing this, Granny Sun couldn't stop smiling. "I must say, Your Highness is truly a natural at business. Not to mention how popular these modified undergarments are, Your Highness's special custom-made versions are really sought after by the wives and concubines of those high-ranking officials. Plus, with the limited editions, the fabric shop's business is booming."
Ye Wanning smiled and said, "Of course." After a pause, she continued, "However, this fabric shop can't just do this one kind of business. Underwear is a simple item. We're just trying something new. Once it becomes more widely known, people will start making other things too, and the business won't be as booming."
"What Your Highness says is true." Granny Sun looked at Ye Wanning and said, "I wonder what Your Highness's plans are next?"
"As the saying goes, nothing is impossible for a willing heart," Ye Wanning smiled.
"Oh?" Granny Sun was taken aback, and looked at Ye Wanning with some doubt, asking, "What does the Princess mean?"
“It means…” Ye Wanning paused, “I haven’t decided yet.” After saying that, she looked up and smiled slightly at Granny Sun.
"..." Granny Sun looked at Ye Wanning, her face full of helplessness, "I thought..."
"Alright, alright!" Ye Wanning stretched and stepped forward, patting Granny Sun's shoulder with a smile. "Granny, you've been working hard lately. You've been looking after the cloth shop. It's not easy for you to come back today, so let's not talk about these things, shall we?" As she spoke, she grabbed Granny Sun's hand. "Granny Sun and Cui'er are both family to me. Today, it's not easy for family to be reunited, so we must have a good meal!"
"Alright, alright!" Granny Sun smiled helplessly. She looked at Ye Wanning, her young lady, and she really couldn't do anything about her!
As they spoke, the three of them walked outside. When they arrived at the kitchen, Ye Wanning insisted on cooking. The two of them couldn't persuade her otherwise, so they had to do as she said. Ye Wanning simply stir-fried a few dishes. Suddenly, she became very interested and said that she wanted to eat in the hall of the mansion garden. So the three of them walked towards the pavilion.
Upon arriving at the pavilion and setting down her things, Ye Wanning suddenly exclaimed, "Oh dear, I forgot something!" Looking at the delicacies on the table, Ye Wanning suddenly remembered something and patted her head in annoyance.
Cui'er was taken aback and looked at Ye Wanning with some confusion, "Sister, what's missing?"
"With such a beautiful view, how can we not drink!" Ye Wanning laughed, then looked at Cui'er and Granny Sun, "I'll go get the wine."
"Oh! Miss!" Seeing this, Granny Sun quickly stood up. "How can I let you do this? Let me do it."
"Granny..." Ye Wanning said with a hint of coquettishness, "You and Cui'er usually take care of me, why can't I get some wine today?"
Granny Sun looked at Ye Wanning with a troubled expression, "But I am a servant..."
Before Granny Sun could finish speaking, Ye Wanning interrupted her, frowning as she looked at her. "Granny, please don't say such things in the future. There's no distinction between superiors and inferiors among us. We are all human beings, ordinary people. Here, you and Cui'er are both my family!"
"But……"
"Alright, alright!" Ye Wanning smiled and whispered in Granny Sun's ear, "Granny, just wait here, I'll be right back." After saying that, she dashed out of the pavilion and disappeared without a trace.
Watching Ye Wanning's retreating figure, Granny Sun couldn't help but sigh.
"Granny, please don't argue with my sister. She's a woman of her word, and she won't tolerate anyone not listening to her." Cui'er sat to the side, smiling at Granny Sun.
"I haven't even said anything to you yet!" Hearing Cui'er say that, Granny Sun glared at her fiercely. "How come you've become 'elder sister' all of a sudden? I've only been gone for a few days and you've already become so unruly? What will you be like in the future!"
“Granny…” Cui’er looked at Granny Sun with a hint of resentment, “It wasn’t me who wanted to say this, it was Miss. She insisted that I call her ‘sister,’ saying that if I didn’t, she would marry me off…”
"Those are all excuses!" Granny Sun tapped Cui'er's head. "You're probably secretly delighted!"
"No..." Cui'er covered her head in grievance.
The two people inside the pavilion were talking and didn't see several people walking towards them from outside.
While Cui'er was still arguing with Granny Sun, a piercing voice suddenly rang out, "Who are you! What are you doing here!"
Cui'er was startled and turned her head, only to find several heavily made-up women standing not far from the pavilion. Cui'er was terrified; weren't these the people the prince had brought back from the palace? "This servant...this servant..."
"How dare you!" A woman in a bright red robe stepped forward and slapped Cui'er across the face. "Has no one told you where you are? How dare a lowly servant girl be so insolent! Whose maid are you!"
"It's my sister! What's wrong!"
Hearing the sound, Cui'er looked up, her face streaked with tears. She saw Ye Wanning standing not far away, holding a wine jug, her face full of anger. "Sister..."
