Chapter 97 Falling into the Trap
As soon as I entered Ning Wanzhi's room, a pleasant fragrance wafted over, making me feel exceptionally comfortable.
"What kind of fragrance is this?" Su Wenliang paused, looking at Ning Wanzhi with some confusion.
"Agarwood." Ning Wanzhi smiled and led the two into the room. She looked at the maid beside her and said, "Go and brew a pot of Yunwu tea."
"Yes," the maid replied and withdrew.
Upon hearing Ning Wanzhi's words, Su Wenliang smiled knowingly, "You actually still remember."
“Although I haven’t been by the Third Prince’s side for very long, I have…” Ning Wanzhi smiled and pursed her lips, “I have figured out the Third Prince’s basic preferences.”
Su Wenliang nodded. "That's what makes you so attractive."
"Your Highness is too kind." Ning Wanzhi smiled, but when she turned her head, she saw that Ye Wanning had a sullen face. She curved her lips and said, "What's wrong with Your Highness? Why do you look so listless?"
Ye Wanning looked up at Ning Wanzhi and replied calmly, "Wanzhi is overthinking it. Nothing of the sort happened."
"That's wonderful." Ning Wanzhi covered her mouth and laughed. "Otherwise, I would have thought that the Princess was blaming me for insisting on bringing the Princess here for tea!"
Ye Wanning smiled awkwardly and looked at Ning Wanzhi. "Wanzhi, that's not right. I agreed to come here myself, so why would I blame you?" As she spoke, Ye Wanning stretched out her right hand and fanned herself. "What's this fragrance? It smells quite nice."
Ning Wanzhi smiled, "Agarwood."
Ye Wanning licked her lips. Of course, she didn't know what kind of fragrance this agarwood was. She was just saying that to change the subject. She smiled, looked at Ning Wanzhi, and didn't reply.
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. Seeing that Ye Wanning didn't speak, Su Wenliang felt a little guilty about what had happened earlier. He secretly glanced at Ye Wanning and saw that she had her eyes half-closed, looking like she was half asleep. He then looked at Ning Wanzhi and found her looking at him with a probing gaze. Su Wenliang coughed twice awkwardly, "Wanzhi, why does this fragrance smell a little different from what I smelled before?"
Neither of them were paying attention to Ning Wanzhi, so they didn't notice her unusual expression. Ning Wanzhi's expression suddenly changed, but she was back to normal after a couple of seconds. She looked at Su Wenliang and smiled, "Third Prince, you probably haven't smelled this fragrance in a long time, have you? It's always this fragrance."
"Probably." Su Wenliang frowned and nodded. "Come to think of it, it has been a few years." As he spoke, Su Wenliang scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly. "Perhaps I remembered it wrong."
Ning Wanzhi smiled but didn't reply. Then there was silence, and the atmosphere in the room remained awkward. After a while, the maid from before came in carrying a teapot.
"Third Prince, Princess Consort, Miss."
"Put it here." Ning Wanzhi looked at her and pointed to the table next to her. "You can go now."
"Yes." The maid nodded and withdrew.
Seeing the maid leave, Ning Wanzhi smiled and looked at Cui'er, "Your Highness... let's have a chat, this one..."
Ye Wanning glanced at Ning Wanzhi and knew she was referring to Cui'er. She frowned. Ning Wanzhi had been Su Wenliang's man before. If Cui'er was sent away, and something happened later, she might not be able to find anyone to help her.
Ye Wanning glanced at Su Wenliang beside her, her eyes darkening, and said in a deep voice, "It's alright. Cui'er is like family to me. I can talk about anything in front of her."
Seeing Ye Wanning's determined look, Ning Wanzhi nodded helplessly, but her eyes were full of meaning. "Since the Princess has said so, then this servant will not say anything more."
As she spoke, Ning Wanzhi stood up, slowly poured a cup of tea, picked it up, and handed it to Su Wenliang, saying, "Third Prince."
"Thank you." Su Wenliang took the teacup and smiled at Ning Wanzhi.
"You're too kind, Third Prince." With that, Ning Wanzhi handed Ye Wanning another cup of tea.
Ye Wanning nodded. She had never liked tea since she was a child, but she didn't want to offend her, so she took a small sip and looked at Ning Wanzhi. "Good tea."
"This tastes excellent." Ning Wanzhi nodded, then looked at Su Wenliang, "What does the Third Prince think?"
"The tea is good, but your tea-brewing skills are nowhere near as good as mine!" Su Wenliang shook his head with a smile.
"Is the Third Prince praising or insulting someone?" Ning Wanzhi smiled helplessly. "I personally taught that girl her cooking skills!"
"Wanzhi, don't be angry." Su Wenliang smiled faintly and looked at Ning Wanzhi. "I just said that she didn't learn the essence of your teachings."
"What do you mean by 'essence'?" Ning Wanzhi said to Su Wenliang coquettishly, "If you keep saying that, Third Prince, I will never invite you to tea again."
Su Wenliang shrugged helplessly, "I didn't realize Wanzhi was so protective of her own."
“Of course.” Ning Wanzhi raised an eyebrow, saying with a hint of excitement, “I’ve always been protective of my own, doesn’t the Third Prince know that?”
"Now I know."
Listening to the conversation between the two people beside her, which had a flirtatious tone, Ye Wanning was speechless. She was also concerned about her image. Why did she agree to come over if there was nothing wrong? If she hadn't come... she sighed. She was probably having a good time with Su Wenzhen right now. There was no need for her to pretend to be tired here.
As if hearing Ye Wanning's sigh, Ning Wanzhi glanced at Ye Wanning, then at the Third Prince, with an apologetic smile on her face. "Look, it's all my fault. I was so busy talking to the Third Prince that I forgot about the Princess." As she spoke, she looked at Ye Wanning with concern in her eyes. "Is the Princess bored? If so, please don't blame me."
"No." Ye Wanning shook her head. A faint fragrance wafted over, but she felt something was wrong. The fragrance made her feel uncomfortable all over. Ye Wanning frowned slightly, feeling a little uneasy.
Seeing Ye Wanning's unusual behavior, Ning Wanzhi asked in a daze, "Your Highness, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing..." Ye Wanning shook her head, then suddenly felt a little dizzy. "I don't know why, but I feel a bit dizzy."
Seeing that Ye Wanning seemed to be feeling unwell, Su Wenliang quickly stepped forward with concern. He looked at Ye Wanning and asked, "What's wrong? Are you alright?"
Ye Wanning frowned, turned her head but saw Ning Wanzhi's ambiguous smile, and she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed, "What's it to you!"
“The Third Prince is being very kind.” Ning Wanzhi, who was standing to the side, suddenly changed her tone and interjected, “Why is the Princess Consort refusing?”
Hearing Ning Wanzhi's words, Ye Wanning felt a surge of anger. What did she mean by that? She turned her head and looked at Ning Wanzhi in confusion. "What are you..." Before she could finish speaking, Ye Wanning suddenly felt her whole body go weak and she didn't even have the strength to speak. She slumped to the side.
Upon seeing Ye Wanning's appearance, Cui'er, who was standing to the side, was startled. She rushed forward and frantically supported Ye Wanning's back, exclaiming, "Your Highness!"
"Wanzhi, you..." Seeing Ye Wanning's abnormality, Su Wenliang looked at Ning Wanzhi in confusion, but he also felt his blood rushing backward and his head spinning.
"Tap tap! Tap tap!"
A strange sound came from the front. Cui'er looked over and saw Ning Wanzhi sitting in front of her with a smile on her face, gently tapping the table with a relaxed expression.
Seeing Ning Wanzhi's appearance, Cui'er knew something was amiss; it was probably Ning Wanzhi who was behind it! She looked at Ning Wanzhi, "What have you done to our Princess Consort!" Before she finished speaking, Su Wenliang suddenly collapsed beside her. Cui'er exclaimed in shock, "Third Prince!"
"Are you called Cui'er?" Ning Wanzhi didn't answer, but just kept smiling at Cui'er.
Ning Wanzhi's smile sent chills down Cui'er's spine. Suppressing her fear, she stammered, "Even...even the Third Prince..."
"Don't worry." Ning Wanzhi smiled, her voice becoming unusually light and clear. "Soon, Cui'er, you will also fall. When that happens, you won't have to worry about them anymore; worry about yourself instead!"
Cui'er's face turned pale. "You!" Before she could finish speaking, Cui'er felt everything go black and she collapsed.
