Chapter 4. He had a friend who crossed the line, Hagiwara.
Even though it's already spring, a cold wind still howls through the night.
Gin didn't fall asleep. He stood quietly on the rooftop of the high-rise building, a sniper rifle in front of him, and Ray was intently staring at the scope.
To be precise, he didn't seem very focused.
From the moment Gin answered the phone, Ray was multitasking, listening intently to the conversation. This was the first time Gin had answered a phone call during a mission; normally, even if his phone rang, he would simply hang up silently, and occasionally he would even turn it off for mission purposes.
But today, not only did he answer the phone, but his voice was even very gentle.
Yes, mild.
Although he remained completely emotionless, this was remarkably mild compared to his impatience and indifference when disturbed by others.
It must be Black Cherry, right? The only person who could get Gin to answer the phone during a mission and be so gentle is either Black Cherry or the organization's boss.
"They dated a few years ago, but China didn't like Gin. Now it's probably just Gin who's interested."
In a daze, Lei thought of what Minmei had said to him.
Mingmei and Black Cherry were best friends. She didn't have many close confidants in the organization, so she mentioned Black Cherry to Laiyi quite often.
"This is the first time I've seen Gin so obedient to anyone. I'm quite afraid of Gin, but after spending time with Black Cherry, I feel that Gin isn't so scary after all."
"No matter how much China acts up, Gin will never hit her. The time he was most angry, he held a gun to her head, but he didn't even take the safety off!"
"Two Valentine's Days ago, China gave Gin a True Love Chocolate. Gin never used to eat things given to him by others, but he ate it that time, and he loved it!"
ah……
Mingmei mentioned it too many times, so many that Laiyi thought she was teasing him.
Gin...love-obsessed?
Are you kidding me?
Even if Lei joined the organization by taking advantage of Minmei, he would only label himself as a good lover and would not be romantically obsessed at all.
The more outstanding a person is, the more rational they are. Being "love-obsessed" sounds very un-elite and is too easy to expose.
Judging from Gin's attitude today... Ray's feelings were indescribably complicated; he really loved him.
"Target spotted."
Ray steadied himself, the muzzle of his gun following the target, and pulled the trigger at Gin's command to "fire".
Put away your guns, go downstairs, and evacuate.
Completed in one go.
As he drove, facing the moon that was just past two in the morning, Lei couldn't help but glance at Gin a few more times.
Gin was resting with his eyes closed. His days seemed to be always so boring. He had no hobbies, didn't play on his phone, and went back and forth between missions and the training ground. He rarely even had time to rest in the safe house and spent most of his time in the Porsche.
"Why didn't you bring vodka today? Compared to vodka, don't you feel how useful mine is?" Ray teased Gin as he drove.
Gin completely ignored him, not even opening his eyes.
"You can drive and snipe, which is more convenient for you than Vodka, right? I don't have a fixed partner yet, Gin. Recruit me as soon as possible, I'm in high demand." Ray leaned half his body over, his voice tender, as if he were coaxing a girl.
Seeing that Gin still didn't speak, Rae waved his hand in front of Gin's face.
"Gin, talk to me, how about we chat about that phone call we just had? It wasn't Black Cherry calling, was it?"
Gin suddenly opened his eyes, two beams of light shooting out from his green eyes, carrying a strong killing intent.
"Flies." Gin's voice was also extremely cold.
Lei raised an eyebrow.
"Too noisy, Lei. At least vodka isn't as annoying as you." Gin's gaze was like a knife, scraping over Lei inch by inch, as if scraping flesh from bone.
Ray scoffed, his tone even more flippant: "Noisy? If you want me to become a puppet like Vodka, then I certainly can't do it. But what a puppet can't do, Gin, I can do." His eyes were the same dark green as Gin's, but less cold and more ambitious.
Gin merely glanced at him and said, "Shut up."
Ray shrugged. He was rejected, but he wasn't too disappointed. After all, Gin was a tough nut to crack, and he had already prepared himself for the possibility of breaking his teeth before he even tried to bite into him.
Take it slow, Lei told himself repeatedly. Even the hardest bone can be ground into bone powder if you grind it carefully for a while.
He will completely gain Gin's trust and truly advance further within the organization.
Chinatsu Takanashi slept soundly.
Sure enough, gin-fueled drinking is good for physical and mental health. Every time Takanashi Chika drinks gin-fueled to her heart's content, she can be happy for several days.
Good morning, Hagiwara!
"Good morning, Chinatsu-chan~" Seeing Takanashi Chinatsu enter the living room, Hagiwara Kenji quickly floated over.
With plenty of time before school, Takanashi Chinatsu went into the kitchen, used a food processor to fry an egg for herself, and then took some lettuce and bread to make a sandwich.
When she was busy, Kenji Hagiwara would follow closely behind, like a balloon tethered to Chinatsu Takanashi, floating around her and happily telling her interesting stories he had heard from TV.
Chinatsu Takanashi was already used to having a talking accessory by her side, and she would chime in with her words, while her attention was more focused on the sandwich in front of her.
“Wow, perfect sandwich! I have a friend who’s really good at making sandwiches, no, I should say he’s an amazing cook! Chika-chan, you could hire him as your chef~” Kenji Hagiwara chattered excitedly from the side.
Chinatsu Kotaka stopped what she was doing and looked at Kenji Hagiwara expressionlessly.
Kenji Hagiwara stopped abruptly, and the smile on his face grew fainter and fainter.
"You've crossed the line, Hagiwara."
Like a bucket of ice water being poured over his head in the dead of winter, all of Kenji Hagiwara's enthusiasm was extinguished.
"We agreed before that you wouldn't interfere in my affairs, and I wouldn't interfere in yours. Don't tell me about your friend's affairs." Takanashi Chinatsu picked up the sandwich, put it into her lunchbox, and walked quickly towards the door.
Hagiwara Kenji hurriedly floated towards the little bird Yuchina.
"Wait, Chinatsu-chan, I won't force you. I misspoke..."
"See you tonight, Hagiwara-kun." Takanashi Chinatsu stood outside the door and slowly closed it.
Even though he was a ghost, and could easily float away, Kenji Hagiwara seemed to be bound by something, standing stiffly in place without moving.
Chinatsu-chan...
Kenji Hagiwara's fingers clenched tightly together; perhaps he shouldn't have tested Chinatsu Takanashi's attitude.
After two years of getting to know each other, didn't he see through what kind of passionate yet cold-hearted person Takanashi Chinatsu was long ago?
A note from the author:
----------------------
Yes, although they spent two years together, Takanashi Chinatsu and Hagiwara Kenji were not very close.
