Chapter 50: Motherly Love and Filial Piety – This is the pinnacle of the FBI and MI6…
"Don't listen, don't listen, Chinatsu-chan, you absolutely can't let him corrupt you!" Kenji Hagiwara reached out to try and cover Chinatsu's ears, but to no avail.
Takanashi Chinatsu also felt he was being too complacent, and her tone suddenly turned cold: "This is punishment, Ray."
Her icy threat only elicited a low, magnetic chuckle from the other party.
"Oh."
It should have been jarring, since it wasn't what Takanashi Chika wanted, but to her ears, it sounded inexplicably pleasant.
That soft, drawn-out ending sound was like a hook, tantalizing the heart and instantly dispelling all anger.
Rai does indeed have some assets. Takanashi Chika has to admit that although she always thinks he's a smooth-talking scumbag and always advises her best friend to dump him, in fact, aside from the fact that Rai joined the organization, he is already a rare high-quality man in the world.
So what if he's good at sweet talk? It just means he's good at charming people and can always provide his girlfriend with the best emotional value.
He was handsome, with a clear facial contour and dark green eyes. When he wasn't smiling, he resembled a proud wolf, but when he smiled, he was like a Czech wolfhound, exuding loyalty and a sense of security.
Impeccable.
It is absolutely impeccable.
Sister, I didn't know you ate so well!
With just a soft chuckle, Takanashi Chika's heart was already exploding with excitement.
"I did do some bad things before, my beautiful, generous, lovely and exceptionally kind goddess, can you forgive me?" Lei lowered her eyes and hummed softly, begging for forgiveness.
Kenji Hagiwara immediately sounded the alarm: "Chinatsu-chan, don't believe him! You can't trust a scumbag like that!"
Takanashi Chika lowered her eyes, but... Rai hadn't actually done anything too outrageous.
He was just too eager to destroy the organization, and hadn't even had a chance to do so yet, had he? He's apologized now, which means he really knows he was wrong.
Just... just...
She can't be petty and hold onto the other person's mistakes, can she?
"We're doomed." Kenji Hagiwara understood immediately when he saw Chinatsu Takanashi's guilty expression, and he screamed silently while holding his head in his hands.
Chinatsu-chan, you're so easy to please!
Chinatsuka Takanashi struggled to regain her composure and try to regain her composure...
Ray spoke first: "I'll give you my ID and my weapons. I'll do whatever you say during this operation."
Takanashi Chika looked over in surprise, only to see Rai tilt his head and give her a warm, trusting smile.
Takanashi Chinatsu subconsciously looked at Hagiwara Kenji. He said that this time they would listen to her, and that the previous little conflict could be put aside?
Hagiwara Kenji slowly breathed out his soul.
But Lei continued to press the issue: "I didn't mean to lie to you. I'm telling you now that I've contacted my mother, who currently works in MI6. Will that make you trust me a little more?"
Chinatsuko Takanashi glanced at Kenji Hagiwara again.
Kenji Hagiwara waved his hand helplessly and said listlessly, "Forget it, I don't care anymore."
Takanashi Chika breathed a sigh of relief and said to Lai, "Let bygones be bygones, but Lai, if you dare to play any more tricks, it won't be as simple as it was this time."
Ray smiled wryly. This time it's easy?
In front of Takanashi Chinatsu, he contacted his mother and asked her to cancel all plans. Only then did Takanashi Chinatsu leave triumphantly, as if she had won a battle.
Watching her departing figure, Lai closed the door and subconsciously looked in the direction where Kenji Hagiwara had just stood.
What was that there just now?
He couldn't see it, but he noticed Takanashi Chika's occasional glances at him, sneaking around cautiously, feeling guilty yet trusting.
That's incredible. It's as if his princess has an invisible guardian deity by her side.
Regarding the plan to fake the death of the undercover agent's family member, Ray had already discussed it with MI6's mother. They had secretly contacted the family member and instructed them on the general action plan.
The plan was so meticulous that Chinatsu had no reason to refuse.
Holding the thick project proposal, Takanashi Chinatsu only glanced at a few pages before boredly tossing it aside, asking Hagiwara Kenji with a pained expression, "Am I stupid?"
"That's absolutely stupid."
"Although he says he'll listen to me, he knows I can't interfere, so he doesn't lose anything at all!"
Kenji Hagiwara smiled wryly. "You're only just realizing it? That despicable and malicious FBI agent still has everything firmly under his control."
"He lied to you, so let's go and cause him trouble!" Kenji Hagiwara rubbed his hands together, already eager to lead his best friends to cause a ruckus.
Takanashi Chinatsu quickly stopped him, sighing and shaking her head: "Never mind, it saves me the trouble."
"China-chan, you can't spoil men!"
Takanashi Chinatsu was even more helpless. She leaned back and crashed heavily onto the soft bed, sinking halfway into it.
Only then did he raise his hand, making a gesture of trying to persuade her to stay.
"Yan'er-chan, you don't need to keep such a close watch on him. Lai has a girlfriend; we're just business partners."
What's the point of talking about indulging or not indulging?
Kenji Hagiwara floated above Chinatsu Takanashi, his puffed-out cheeks and angry expression making him look exceptionally cute.
Takanashi Chika couldn't help but laugh, raising her hand so that her fingers just touched Hagiwara Kenji's chubby cheeks.
She thought she would only poke at air as before, but unexpectedly, it was soft, icy, and had a very distinct tactile sensation.
She immediately exclaimed "Wow!" and straightened up, her upper body easily passing through Kenji Hagiwara's body.
"Yanji-chan, did I just touch you?" Takanashi Chinatsu even thought it was a hallucination.
Kenji Hagiwara smugly snorted, his tone boastful: "Impressive, isn't it!"
"You can touch living people now?"
"I can only partially touch the real world, but I didn't train for nothing. Kenji-chan worked super hard!" Hagiwara Kenji put his hands on his hips, proudly waiting for Takanashi Chinatsu's praise.
Chinatsuka Takanashi immediately clapped her hands, providing him with plenty of emotional support: "You're amazing, Kenji-chan, you're a genius!"
Kenji Hagiwara's body swelled up, much like his inflated confidence.
"Yanji-chan, you're the most amazing ghost I've ever seen!" Takanashi Chinatsu cheered again.
Kenji Hagiwara, flattered by the compliment, circled around Chinatsu Kotori, exclaiming, "Chinatsu-chan is the cutest human I've ever met!"
"Really? Isn't your sister cute?" Takanashi Chika teased him on purpose.
"She's beautiful and cool, not just cute!"
"So I'm not beautiful or cool, just cute?" Takanashi Chinatsu asked, her eyes darting around with a sarcastic tone.
Kenji Hagiwara was immediately shocked and shouted, "I quit!" "You're so mean, Chinatsu-chan! You know perfectly well that's not what I meant!"
Chika Takanashi covered her mouth, but laughter still escaped through her fingers. At first, it was a soft, muffled chuckle, but later it became unrestrained and turned into a series of silvery laughs.
"Knock knock," someone is knocking on the door.
"Stop fooling around," Takanashi Chika whispered, then went to open the door.
Lai stood in the doorway, his gaze immediately sweeping into the room, and said, "I heard noises coming from your room."
"I'm watching a manzai performance, is that not allowed?"
“Of course. Are you free tonight? My mother would like to meet you. Would you like to go out with me tonight?” Lei invited politely. Perhaps because he had been tricked by the ghost once, his tone was gentler than usual when he spoke to Takanashi Chinatsu.
"I don't recommend you go, Chinatsu-chan. This is MI6 territory." Kenji Hagiwara crossed his arms, his eyes still full of hostility as he stared at Rai.
Chinatsu Takanashi hesitated as well, "I don't know your mother."
"She heard about you and is very interested in you."
"Just because she's interested, does that mean I have to go see her? Let her come see me." She didn't want to be manipulated by anyone.
Unexpectedly, Takanashi Chika saw a triumphant smile on Rai's lips.
broken!
Before she could change her mind, Lai agreed first: "Okay, I'll bring her to see you."
Takanashi Chika pursed her lips and glared at Rai unhappily; she had been tricked by this guy!
Wow, the FBI has so many tricks up their sleeves.
Kenji Hagiwara's concerns are justified. In Britain, they are indeed no match for MI6, and their ability to prank Rye is only because he is currently alone.
But if Rae's mother summoned a large number of MI6 agents to surround her, the Ghosts wouldn't dare approach so many government personnel.
but……
This is MI6 territory anyway, so whether she agrees or not doesn't really matter. She didn't even change hotels, so it would be easy for MI6 to monitor her. It's better to actually meet her.
"Ray, if I have a fight with your mother tonight, you..."
“I’ll help you,” Lei answered quickly.
Although it was a quick-response question, he wasn't as impulsive as other young boys; his tone was calm and composed, which gave people a sense of credibility and security.
Takanashi Chika looked at him suspiciously. "Really?"
Rye immediately explained, "I belong to the FBI, not the same department as my mother's MI6, and we're not even from the same country. Although we are related by blood, I will definitely prioritize my own mission. Chika, you are the focus of my mission now, and I will never let her hurt you."
"This family bond is so fake," Kenji Hagiwara commented from the side.
Chika Takanashi nodded seriously, "It is indeed plastic. This is the legendary 'motherly love and filial piety'!"
To protect Chinatsu Takanashi, Rai ate dinner in her room and had already prepared weapons. He didn't seem to be facing his mother, but rather guarding against an enemy.
It's getting more and more plasticky...
Chika Takanashi observed Rai, increasingly unable to resist asking him what he was thinking. His mother was MI6, so why did he join the FBI? Was their relationship really that bad? And the FBI? What's going on? They dared to recruit someone with that kind of family background; weren't they afraid of recruiting spies?
Kenji Hagiwara has also arranged for his ghost friends to stand guard, and even to keep a close watch on the hotel from all angles, keeping an eye on any suspicious people, so that they can evacuate as soon as possible if they find that MI6 is surrounding them.
Fortunately, it seems that Mary Akai still trusts and has feelings for her son, and did not call her colleagues to surround them and capture them all.
Mary Akai came alone.
She has short blonde hair and green eyes. With this familiar color scheme, no one would doubt that she is her mother and daughter if she stood next to Takanashi Chinatsu. But when Rai appeared next to her, the identical temperament and appearance of Akai Mary and Rai were truly shocking.
They are the true mother and child, far surpassing everyone else.
"Hello, I am Mary Akai, the mother of this good-for-nothing boy." Mary Akai entered the room and skillfully extended her hand to Chinatsu Takanashi.
Lai stood in front of the tightly closed door, wary of an outsider suddenly barging in.
"Hello, I'm Black Cherry," Takanashi Chinatsu introduced herself in a formulaic way.
The two held hands.
Although Mary Akai is middle-aged, she is becoming more and more charming. She is like a ripe peach, exuding an irresistible feminine charm from the inside out.
But Chika Takanashi touched the calluses on her hands.
It's very hard and rough.
Chinatsu Takanashi was very familiar with this feeling. Everyone in the organization had calluses on their hands, marks left from years of holding guns, training, and fighting. These marks were even more memorable to her than Akai Mary's beauty.
“I prefer to call you Takanashi Chinatsu.” Akai Mari smiled.
"Whatever you want." Takanashi Chinatsu pulled her hand back. To maintain her composure, she didn't sit lazily on the bed as usual, nor did she back down. Instead, she calmly stared at Akai Mary with her forest green eyes.
Although she was putting on a brave face, she was used to dealing with Gin, Rum, and other seemingly ruthless guys in the organization, and she was able to hold her own against Akai Mary with ease.
"He said you wanted to see me. What is it about me that has piqued your interest, lady from MI6?" Takanashi Chinatsu curled her lips and slightly raised her left eyebrow.
"Anyone who is the future successor of the organization would want to meet him."
Chinatsu's smile turned contemptuous, and her voice became frivolous, carrying a hint of malice: "Whoever the organization's future successor is, they all want to hold him in their own hands."
The air suddenly turned icy cold.
That chilling feeling once again sounded an alarm bell in Ray's heart.
Not wanting to experience another Ice Age, Lai walked away from the door and stepped forward to smooth things over: "China doesn't want to be the heir. It's all the boss's conspiracy. Mother, you told me before you came that you would never have a conflict with China."
He stared intently at his mother, seemingly true to his promise to protect China no matter what.
Mary Akai glanced at her son in surprise, then smiled at Chika and said, "He said you are very kind."
"I am just very kind." Takanashi Chinatsu never fights internally. Everyone says she is kind, so why is she afraid to admit it?
"But you've always been in the organization, and you've even gained the boss's favor..."
"Are you jealous, Mary Akai?" No defense, only offense.
Chinatsu Takanashi stared intently at Mary Akai, noticing the astonishment and speechlessness in her eyes, but she didn't back down at all.
She spoke eloquently: "You think I'm a bad person just because the boss favors me? But the organization is full of bad people. If he really favored bad people, he would have chosen someone else before me. Why would he choose someone like me who has accomplished nothing? So the reason he favors me so much is precisely because I am one of the few truly kind people in the organization."
Mary Akai looked at her son blankly.
Lei looked up at the sky silently, not wanting to give any response.
Kenji Hagiwara was already laughing on the side. Although he knew that Chinatsu was talking nonsense, he really enjoyed the retort.
"That's how it should be, China, we must firmly grasp the initiative!"
Chinatsu Takanashi wholeheartedly agreed. She didn't need to care what the other party said, she only needed to say what she should say. Facing the elites of MI6, any concession would only embolden them.
“I haven’t reported your son yet, doesn’t that prove my kindness?” Takanashi Chinatsu even took a step forward.
Mary Akai did not back down.
The two were very close for a moment, their noses almost touching.
"Hiss—" In the end, Lai couldn't stand it anymore, so he grabbed the shoulders of the two women with one hand and tried to separate them.
In the tense atmosphere, only Lei was truly being roasted over the fire.
"Mom, don't do this," Lai said, trying to persuade his mother.
Then he immediately turned to persuade Chika Takanashi: "My mother has no ill intentions towards you, Chika, believe me."
"He's such a jerk, always playing both sides." Kenji Hagiwara took the opportunity to badmouth Chinami Takanashi.
Takanashi Chika glanced at him speechlessly, thinking there was no need to dislike Rai so much.
Mary Akai pushed her son aside and said to Chinatsu Takanashi, "Although I don't completely trust you, since Shuichi trusts you, I'm willing to take the gamble. You didn't report him because you hoped to get help from the FBI. Eradicating the organization isn't easy, and I think you'll need MI6's help as well. How about cooperating with me? As long as you provide me with information about the organization, MI6 will provide you with as much help as you need."
She slightly raised her chin, her voice calm and composed, exuding confidence and elegance.
She didn't seem to think that Chinatsu Takanashi would refuse.
And that was indeed the case. After all, the organization was really difficult to deal with, so Takanashi Chika naturally wanted to win over all the forces she could.
Can……
“I don’t really like you, Mary Akai,” Chinatsu said calmly.
Mary Akai was slightly taken aback.
“If I absolutely had to cooperate with MI6, I would never have asked you to be my contact.” Takanashi Chika took a step back, finally settling comfortably on the bed. Then, she gestured toward the door and said, “Please leave.”
Mary Akai did not leave. She rushed forward and looked down at him, demanding, "What do you mean by this?"
Takanashi Chinatsu was not intimidated by her imposing manner and said calmly, "I will not cooperate, at least not with you. If MI6 really intends to cooperate with me, I hope they will send a reliable liaison."
Mary Akai's eyes flashed, and she lowered her voice: "Do you know what you're saying? Black Cherry, you're standing on British soil right now."
Chika Takanashi didn't answer, but instead looked at Rai beside her.
With a sense of helplessness, Ray raised his gun and pointed it at his mother's head.
"Shuichi!" Akai Marie scolded.
“I’m sorry, but I promised her that if you two ever have a conflict, I will stand by her side.” Leyson’s green eyes were as calm as a cold pool.
Mary Akai clenched and unclenched her fists repeatedly, finally giving up after several attempts. She turned and pushed open the door to leave.
Lei breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Takanashi Chinatsu with a hint of helplessness, "You've really ruined my life."
Will she scold you?
"They might hit me too." Lei subconsciously touched the side of his cheek, the spot where he had been hit after his last fight with his mother.
Takanashi Chika smiled happily and raised her hand. Rai, ever observant, handed her a glass of peach juice.
After taking a sip of juice, Takanashi Chinatsu remarked to Rai, "Your mother has quite the presence."
"She's used to MI6, so don't mind her."
"Actually, you really want to facilitate my collaboration with her, right?" Takanashi Chinatsu tilted her head and looked at Rai with a smile.
After a moment of silence, Ray nodded in agreement.
"Why? It's the same when I work with other MI6 members. She was very angry just now, but if it were just a change of contact person, she probably wouldn't be so angry. Is it because she doesn't want to give away the credit?"
“No.” Lei took a deep breath, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
Takanashi Chika didn't urge her, and continued drinking her sweet peach juice. If she wanted to say something, Lei would naturally explain.
“My father’s name is Tsutomu Akai. He disappeared more than ten years ago. All signs indicate that his disappearance is related to the organization. That’s why I joined the FBI and infiltrated the organization to investigate. I think my mother must have been trying to find him in MI6 as well. She would naturally not want to miss any opportunity to contact the organization.”
The peach juice suddenly wasn't sweet anymore.
Chinatsu Takanashi removed the cup from her lips, her eyes slightly glazed over.
It's because of my father...
I never imagined that someone like Shuichi Akai would join the organization to find his father; she thought he was full of fairness and justice.
“I wanted to destroy the organization for my father’s sake.” Takanashi Chika placed the glass of peach juice on the bedside table.
"Your father?"
"My adoptive father."
Akai Shuichi instinctively asked, "Boss?"
Takanashi Chika shook her head. She had never approved of Karasuma Renya, and her relationship with him was merely a charade.
In her heart, the only person who could be called her adoptive father was Takanashi Yuki. Even though he was organizing an undercover operation, he did his best to create a peaceful and beautiful life for her, and even hid her away before he died.
She probably shouldn't have come out. If she hadn't, the organization wouldn't have discovered her, and she wouldn't have been dragged into the vortex of evil.
But she didn't regret coming out. She showed her luck and gained access to the organization's core again. Perhaps in the future, she really could eliminate the organization.
Shuichi Akai must have heard some rumors within the organization. After a slight pause, he immediately reacted: "Gin killed your adoptive father? Could that rumor be true?"
"It's true."
"I'm sorry," Shuichi Akai apologized.
Takanashi Chika is no longer sad, after all, she knows very well that her adoptive father is not dead.
“Since you have also had someone important taken from you by the organization, I think you can understand how my mother and I feel.” Lai stepped forward, not with a condescending attitude, but instead squatted down and quietly looked up at Kotori Chika from below.
Their eyes were identical green, like four shimmering green gems, and when they gazed at each other in silence, they brought a sense of tranquility and beauty to the world.
He tilted his head back, but his eyelashes drooped, and his voice was so soft it was more like a whisper: "China, please have pity on my mother and let her participate as well, okay?"
