Chapter 43 Who's the Fool? Let's see what kind of trouble he'll cause!
Chizuru Takanashi didn't dare bring the person home.
She knew very well that Matsuda would never stay at home obediently and would definitely not agree to her "retirement" plan.
She also knows Kenji Hagiwara very well. Although Kenji Hagiwara cares a lot about Matsuda, he absolutely cannot accept locking him up.
With no other option, Takanashi Chika found a house outside and ordered Rai to keep an eye on Matsuda.
After tying the person up, Lai felt something was off about Takanashi Chika's instructions. "Wait, do you mean I should be the kidnapper?"
"yes."
"And what about you?"
"Me? I'm just a victim. I was knocked unconscious and dumped in the middle of nowhere. I had to drive back myself." Takanashi Chinatsu completely absolved herself of any responsibility.
Ray was so angry he laughed. How dare he say that, making him the villain!
“I can’t help it. If Matsuda knew that I kidnapped him, he definitely wouldn’t listen to anything. But if you kidnapped him and threatened him hard, he would be much more obedient.”
Lai pondered, and although there was some truth to it, he was still not entirely satisfied.
"By the way, you can threaten him, but you can't actually hurt him, or I'll never forgive you!"
Ray was speechless for a moment, and said helplessly, "So you mean, I want to keep him obedient, but I can't hurt him in the slightest?"
"That's right!"
Lei stared at Takanashi Chinatsu for a while before finally refusing, "I can't do it."
Upon hearing this, Chinatsu Takanashi immediately became anxious: "Can't do it? Everyone else can do it, why can't you?"
"Let whoever is capable do it do it."
Takanashi Chika did not give up and devoted herself to PUA Ray: "Don't forget that you are an elite sent by the FBI. The FBI sent you to infiltrate, and the organization gave you a mission and you said you couldn't do it. How will you climb up in the future? It's only because I indulged you that you took back what you said. I pretended not to hear it and will not tell anyone."
Ray: ...
Do you think he's an idiot?
"First, this wasn't a mission assigned by the organization at all; it was just a side job. Second, if you don't let me lay a hand on him, how am I supposed to threaten him? With my mouth?" Lei felt that Takanashi Chika was being quite inexplicable.
Takanashi Chinatsu, however, remained defiant: "Didn't you also deceive Akemi with just your words!"
Lei frowned, but his eyes drooped as he looked helplessly at Takanashi Chika.
"Anyway, I'm handing the man over to you. If you do a good job, I can..." She paused halfway through her sentence, and after thinking for a long time, she came up with a reward: "I will tell you Gin's fatal weakness!"
Ray's pupils contracted sharply.
Seeing Rai's reaction, Takanashi Chika couldn't help but admire her own wit. Sure enough, Rai cared a lot about Gin, treating him like a nemesis.
"Do you know Gin's fatal weakness?"
"certainly!"
"If I were to help you keep an eye on Matsuda Jinpei, would you really tell me?"
"Although I enjoy playing pranks, I also keep my word." Of course, Takanashi Chinatsu would tell Rai, after all, Gin's fatal weakness is her.
But what can Ray do even if he knows?
Ray has no way to deal with her anymore, which is why she's now under his control. Even though she knows that Gin's weakness is her, there's nothing she can do.
She's too clever; she's basically getting free labor from Ray.
Lei was satisfied. "Good."
Chinatsuka Takanashi was even more satisfied: "Then I'll trouble you!" She hoped that Rae wouldn't cry when he found out.
After settling Matsuda Jinpei in, Takanashi Chinatsu quickly went to school. She was preoccupied with her thoughts all day and didn't dare to go inside for a long time when she got home.
Hmm...
Matsuda said he would come to the house tonight, but he's not coming now. Will Hagiwara Kenji notice something's wrong?
Oh no, with the second-year graduate student's keen observation skills, they might actually find out.
But she quickly straightened her back. Even if she was found out, she would deny it to the death, and even a second-year graduate student couldn't do anything about it.
When Takanashi Chika opened the door, she saw Hagiwara Kenji disassembling her television set, with a pile of parts already on the floor.
"My TV—"
"Ah, Chinatsu-chan, you're back!" Kenji Hagiwara greeted her happily.
Chinatsuka Takanashi quickly went over and asked, "What are you doing? Why did you take the TV apart?"
"You mean this? The screen resolution always seems a bit blurry. Let me take it apart and see if there's anything wrong with it," Kenji Hagiwara said casually.
"Can it still be installed?"
"Of course! Don't underestimate me! I can install it, and even set up a bomb!" As if to prove his words, Kenji Hagiwara quickly installed the TV. Not only could it be turned on, but the picture was even clearer than before.
Takanashi Chinatsu gaped in surprise. "This works? Hagiwara Kenji is amazing!"
"Don't worry, I'm a professional at fixing things." Kenji Hagiwara winked at her.
Takanashi Chinatsu smiled and gave a thumbs up, saying, "Amazing! No wonder you have hands that can dismantle/reassemble, and you're exceptionally dexterous when it comes to other things as well."
"Where's Jinpei?" Kenji Hagiwara peered out from the doorway.
"They probably haven't gotten off work yet," Takanashi Chika said somewhat guiltily.
"I thought he would pick you up after school." Kenji Hagiwara clicked his tongue twice, lamenting that Jinpei really didn't know how to please girls.
Takanashi Chika gave a sheepish smile and immediately went to the kitchen, not daring to continue the topic.
Kenji Hagiwara didn't care at first, but when dinner was ready and served and Matsuda Jinpei was still nowhere to be seen, he started to worry.
"Why isn't Jinpei here yet? Didn't we agree to study how to cultivate together today?" Hagiwara Kenji was extremely restless, clutching the cultivation manual.
Misfortune, bomb disposal work.
Good heavens, those two together are super dangerous!
"Chinatsuba-chan." Kenji Hagiwara looked at Chinatsuba with watery eyes.
Takanashi Chinatsu immediately said, "Don't worry, I haven't heard of any explosions nearby. Matsuda-nii will definitely be fine."
"Why isn't he here yet?" Kenji Hagiwara picked up the landline and said to Chinatsu Takanashi, "I'll give him a call. He's probably working overtime."
"Okay, go ahead and hit him." Takanashi Chinatsu lowered her head guiltily.
The call obviously didn't go through.
Kenji Hagiwara visibly wilted, looking pitiful and listless as he drifted to his seat.
The phone is off... Xiaozhenping's phone is off...
This is very strange. How could Kojinpei turn off his phone? He knows perfectly well that both he and Chika will be worried.
"I can't go out, Chinatsu-chan. Could you go and ask what's going on for me?" Hagiwara Kenji's face was full of worry and apology. He knew it wasn't good to let a girl go out alone so late, but he was really worried that Jinpei might die somewhere he didn't know.
Damn it, I knew I shouldn't have taken that book!
"Okay, I'll go out and look for him now, don't worry." Takanashi Chinatsu couldn't bear Hagiwara Kenji's pitiful look, and felt extremely guilty, so she immediately put on a coat and went out without even eating dinner.
Half an hour later, Chinatsu and Rai had dinner together.
"Are you kidding me? You didn't even cook the rice properly. It's still undercooked." Takanashi Chinatsu said disdainfully, picking up a uncooked grain of rice with her chopsticks.
Lei raised an eyebrow and said, "I'm sorry, I'm not very good at cooking. If you want something good, you can go to Scotland."
Chinatsuko: ...
"How is Matsuda-san?"
He's sleeping.
"How much medicine did you take? Are you still not awake?" Takanashi Chinatsu asked with some concern. What if it affected her brain?
Lei was speechless and said, "He woke up a long time ago, but he was making too much noise, so I knocked him unconscious again."
"Knocked him unconscious?" Takanashi Chika stared intently at his hand. Did this guy have any sense of restraint? Could he have knocked Matsuda senseless?
Ray was even more speechless: "You can't even knock me out?" Then he really couldn't do it.
"Go easy on him. Matsuda is a bomb disposal cop. His brain and hand dexterity are both very important," Takanashi Chika warned him, then immediately stood up and walked toward the room where Matsuda Jinpei was being held.
Ray immediately asked her, "Where are you going?"
"Since you knocked him unconscious, of course I'll go in and check on him." Takanashi Chinatsu said as she pushed open the door and immediately saw Matsuda Jinpei lying properly on the bed with a thin blanket covering him. It was clear that Rai had taken good care of him.
As she approached, Takanashi Chika saw Matsuda Jinpei's furrowed brows and immediately sighed.
Even in his sleep he's frowning, so restless. It seems Matsuda-san really hates being tied up.
She gently patted her forehead. She was really stupid. Who would like to be tied up? She was also acting out of desperation and hoped that Matsuda-san wouldn't make too much of a fuss.
Lai also put down her chopsticks and came in. Behind her, she said, "Matsuda Jinpei kept asking about you. I told him I left you there, and he seemed a little skeptical."
"Don't believe me?"
“He’s smart; he’s not someone you can easily fool.” Lei raised an eyebrow. Did Black Cherry really think she could be fooled?
Takanashi Chinatsu never thought she could keep it a secret from Matsuda Jinpei forever, but she never expected that Matsuda Jinpei would find out right away. Thinking of Matsuda Jinpei staring at her with a flat face, she immediately shrank her neck guiltily.
We're doomed!
Once she lets Matsuda go, she'll probably get a severe scolding.
"What are you really thinking? Do you really think you can keep this from him forever?" Ray asked, puzzled.
"Of course not."
"So what do you plan to do if you can't hide it from me? Kidnap a police officer, and he'll be in deep trouble with you." Lai reminded her of the other party's special identity.
Takanashi Chika felt completely numb. How could she tell Rai that she hadn't actually thought too much about it, but just felt that Matsuda Jinpei's trip to work was dangerous and time was too urgent, so she had taken him into custody first?
If she said that, Lei would definitely laugh at her very loudly.
"If you're willing to recruit him into the organization..."
"Shut up, Lei!" Takanashi Chinatsu refused firmly, not even waiting for Lei to finish speaking.
Lei was taken aback, and his gaze toward Takanashi Chika was quite subtle.
Takanashi Chinatsu immediately said, "I can't let him join the organization. He's a perfectly good policeman, not someone sent by higher-ups to infiltrate. How could I possibly drag him into this mess?"
"You care about him a lot."
Takanashi Chinatsu knew she had exposed her weakness, but she had many weaknesses to begin with, and Ray was an FBI agent with some principles, so she simply nodded and admitted, "That's right, I care about him, so you have to take good care of him for me. You absolutely cannot hurt him, and you absolutely cannot let him join the organization. I will arrange the rest."
“I have already exposed myself to him.”
"Being exposed is your own problem, not his. Who can you blame for not wearing a mask in front of him?"
Lai hissed, somewhat unwilling: "I did all this for you, and your attitude is a bit too heartless, isn't it?"
Chinatsu Takanashi stared intently at Rai, refusing to back down in the slightest.
“Okay, okay, it’s my fault, but you’d better think it over.” Ray softened his tone and gently reminded her, “He’s a policeman. If he disappears without any reason, the police station will definitely look for him. If they release him in the end, either he will admit that he was kidnapped and betray you, or he will not betray you but will be absent from work without cause, which will definitely affect his job.”
Takanashi Chika was startled; she hadn't really thought that far ahead.
She really didn't think things through enough. She had never done anything that involved overall planning before. She only knew how to detain people and ensure their safety, but she overlooked so many things.
But what should I do? Should I ask Matsuda-san for leave? With what reason and in what capacity?
Chinatsu Takanashi was caught in a dilemma, and even when she got home, she couldn't manage a smile.
"China-chan, you look so pale. Is something really wrong with Jinpei?" Kenji Hagiwara floated nervously to China Takanashi.
The horn incense had gone out, and Kenji Hagiwara tried to grab Chinatsu Kotori's arm, but he grabbed nothing.
Chinatsu immediately reassured her, "Matsuda-nii is alright, don't worry."
"Then why are you so downcast?"
Takanashi Chinatsu looked miserable, sighed dejectedly, and looked at Hagiwara Kenji with eyes full of helplessness.
"What happened? Don't be like this, I'm a little scared." Kenji Hagiwara was even more worried.
"Matsuda-nii... he beat someone up today and got arrested." Takanashi Chinatsu lowered her head deeply, looking ashamed to face anyone.
Although she hadn't figured out how to ask for leave yet, at least she had figured out how to lie to Kenji Hagiwara.
"You hit someone?" Kenji Hagiwara was shocked.
Chinatsu nods and says in a low, quick voice, "Superintendent General."
Matsuda Jinpei wanted to beat up the Superintendent General of Police, something that Hagiwara Kenji mentioned during a conversation.
Kenji Hagiwara gasped in disbelief: "He hit the Superintendent General?"
"Hmm..." Takanashi Chinatsu said listlessly, her voice muffled: "The Superintendent General is very angry. Matsuda-san's superior tried his best to speak up, but he still has to be detained for fifteen days. This is already a very light punishment."
Kenji Hagiwara immediately covered his head and squatted on the ground, crying out, "How could this happen!"
"It's okay, Matsuda-nii will be out in fifteen days." Takanashi Chinatsu cheered herself on in her heart. She had to deal with the misfortune within fifteen days.
Kenji Hagiwara, however, still had a "the sky has fallen" expression on his face, and remained squatting on the ground for a long time without getting up.
Seeing that Kenji Hagiwara didn't suspect anything, Chinatsu Takanashi breathed a sigh of relief and pretended to be tired, saying, "I'm going to rest now. I'll start bringing lunch to Matsuda-nii tomorrow. I'm worried he won't like pork cutlet rice."
Kenji Hagiwara has not responded and remains in a state of emo.
When Chika Takanashi returned to her room, Kenji Hagiwara looked up with a worried expression, his eyes filled with complex emotions and concern.
China was lying to him.
The Superintendent General of Police had already been replaced while he was still alive. The current Superintendent General of Police is not the same one who mistakenly arrested Uncle Jotaro. No matter how angry Kojinpei is, he can't possibly be unable to distinguish right from wrong.
But why lie to him? Did something really happen to Kojinpei?
But that doesn't quite make sense. Even if Kojinpei really did die in the line of duty, China wouldn't make up a story to hide it from him. She would probably bring Kojinpei's soul over to train together. Even if Kojinpei became a bound spirit and couldn't come over, she would at least make a copy for him instead of coming to deceive ghosts.
There's a problem!
There's definitely something wrong with Chinatsu's reaction!
Kenji Hagiwara secretly drifted out, trying to go to places he couldn't go before, but he could only barely take half a step before being blocked by an invisible constraint.
It's still not enough, it's not strong enough!
Wanting to expand his territory and find Xiao Zhenping? With his current abilities, that's nothing short of a pipe dream.
Late at night, Matsuda Jinpei opened his eyes.
His hands and feet were chained, though there were gaps to prevent them from being too tight, but it was wishful thinking to try to break free from chains as thick as a finger.
The person who bound him seemed to know him very well; the chains were completely welded shut, with no keyhole for him to use. The only way to open them would be to cut them open bit by bit.
It's China.
Matsuda Jinpei still remembers the guilty look in Chika's eyes.
But why would she do this? Matsuda Jinpei couldn't understand it. He already knew that China was being controlled by an evil organization, and he had never blamed her. He even tried to help her escape her suffering. Why would China suddenly treat him like this?
"Splash!" "Splash!"
Matsuda Jinpei got off the ground and deliberately made a noise to shake the chains. The chains were actually quite long, long enough to allow him to go to the bathroom, but the windows were sealed off. Even if he opened the door, he would only be able to walk three or five meters in the corridor before being pulled back.
The distance of the chains was just right—enough to allow him to maintain a basic standard of living while restricting his ability to leave.
"Can't you just stay quiet this late at night?" Lei asked as he pushed the door open and entered.
Matsuda Jinpei recognized Lai. When he woke up during the day and tried to run away, it was Lai who knocked him unconscious. This guy was very skilled. Although he was bound by chains at the time, he had no confidence that he could defeat this bastard by breaking free of the chains.
"I have work tomorrow, Matsuda Jinpei, can you please stop making noise?" Lai leaned against the door frame, the corridor light illuminating his profile, but the room was dark. He stood at the boundary between light and shadow, a smile that Matsuda Jinpei found utterly detestable.
"Splash!" "Splash!" "Splash!"
Matsuda Jinpei responded by shaking the chains even harder.
“It seems we can’t coexist peacefully,” Lei said regretfully, walking towards Matsuda Jinpei.
Matsuda Jinpei wasn't nervous at all. Instead, he said leisurely, "You want to knock me out? Does the person behind you allow you to hurt me like this?"
Lai didn't fall for his trick and didn't even stop walking.
“As long as I don’t die, I’ll always see her, and then I’ll definitely tell on you.” Matsuda Jinpei’s eyes revealed a hint of sarcasm.
Lei finally stopped.
It wasn't that he was tricked into saying things, nor was it that his acting was bad; Matsuda Jinpei had clearly figured it out completely.
"I won't hurt you, provided you stay here obediently."
Matsuda Jinpei sat on the bed. Now that he had seen through the situation, he did not do anything rash. He sighed and said, "Please help me pass on a message. I know why she locked me up here, but I am a policeman and have my own job. I can't keep not going to work."
Ray crossed his arms and gave him a cool look.
That's probably why Black Cherry is helpless, right?
Matsuda Jinpei is the kind of person who doesn't play hardball, but rather softball. He may sit quietly and speak logically and reasonably, but he just doesn't please people.
“Your job is too dangerous.” Lai also felt that Black Cherry had gone too far this time. He had been a bomb disposal police officer for several years, and Black Cherry’s decision to lock him up with just a few words was excessive.
There was nothing Klay could do; he was already being held hostage by Black Cherry, and he could only helplessly watch the policeman's predicament.
When is she coming?
She probably won't see you.
Matsuda Jinpei wasn't surprised. He muttered, "That's right. She's too soft-hearted. If she doesn't plan to let me go, she definitely won't come to see me."
Lei Yi's trough has no opening.
What does it mean to be too soft-hearted? When Black Cherry was causing trouble and trying to break him and Mingmei up, she never showed any mercy.
Will you keep staring at me?
“No, I have work tomorrow during the day,” Lei said casually.
Matsuda Jinpei complained, "That's so boring! You're just going to leave me here all alone? This is torture! You can't give me a phone, at least give me a computer to play games!"
Lai gave Matsuda Jinpei a deep look, sensing that the other was up to something, but he still nodded and quickly carried a computer inside.
As Matsuda Jinpei excitedly stepped forward to turn on the computer, Rae whispered devilishly behind him, "Don't even think about it, there's no internet."
Matsuda Jinpei's fingers stiffened, almost crushing the mouse in his hand.
"You don't actually think I'd be so careless as to let you send out a distress message, do you? It comes pre-installed with a few single-player games; you can use them to pass the time." Ray patted him on the shoulder and left.
"Damn it!" came Matsuda Jinpei's loud curse from inside the room.
Lai, who had already closed the door, smiled. Too naive, and they didn't take him seriously at all. He wasn't so careless as to let him connect to the internet.
The next morning, Lai brought breakfast to Matsuda Jinpei, but when he came to collect the cutlery, he found that a fork was missing.
He smiled and didn't take it seriously.
The chain is welded shut, and even with professional tools, it would take several minutes to cut. Is a fork meant to cut the chain or dig up the ground?
Lai winked at Matsuda Jinpei, and said he'd be crying when Matsuda Jinpei tried to poke the keyhole but couldn't find it.
Feeling completely relieved, Ray drove away from the area.
Seeing through the window that Lai had indeed left, Matsuda Jinpei snorted coldly. Did they think he was an idiot? Then don't blame him for turning the other guy into a real idiot!
He knew there was no keyhole, and he wasn't trying to unlock it, but chains weren't something that could only be cut with specialized cutting tools.
Matsuda Jinpei couldn't wait to open the computer case, and then used one of the teeth of the fork as a flathead screwdriver to easily unscrew the screws inside. Although the Phillips head screws were a bit troublesome, he removed them little by little.
To break free of his chains, he'd have to make a big commotion first!
