Chapter 2: Gin's secondary card is just a useless ex-boyfriend...
It's you, you vengeful wretch!
Takanashi Chinatsu quickly realized who this person was.
Tokyo is a metropolis with a relatively high concentration of high-ranking officials and wealthy people. As the head of the action team on the Japanese side, Gin often conducts activities in Tokyo.
Six months ago, during a mission, Gin accidentally injured someone that Takanashi Chinatsu knew.
The organization is dark, and its members are all ruthless, but Takanashi Chinatsu has her own social circle.
She had lived in Tokyo for so long that she was surrounded by familiar faces on her way to school, some of whom had watched her grow up and were like family to her.
When Gin touched this taboo, she didn't hesitate for a moment. She asked Rum for Gin's nearest mission location, rushed over, snatched Gin's hat, and fired a shot at him while running away.
This is a harmless response unique to Takanashi.
Gin reacted quickly; although he didn't retaliate or dodge, he grabbed the person next to him and used his body to block the bullet.
"Scotland?" Takanashi Chinatsu still remembered that name.
Scotland narrowed her eyes and called out her code name with a forced smile: "Black Cherry."
A bullet hitting the right leg can make the pain more memorable.
But what impressed Scotland the most was Gin's reaction when Black Cherry snatched his hat.
He didn't draw his gun, and he didn't get angry.
He always had a cold face, but Scotland thought Gin wasn't that angry at the time.
Gin's first reaction was to stop him and Ray from their actions: "Don't shoot!"
So neither of them moved, even when Black Cherry later drew her gun on Gin.
Although it was Scotland who was injured, Scotland saw a human quality in Gin for the first time. It turned out that this usually stern and unsmiling assassin could also protect someone.
Scotland's eyes were filled with complex emotions. He had investigated further and found out Black Cherry's code name, but he had not heard that she had been punished for the matter.
Could this person be Gin's Achilles' heel?
"Can you let me go, Scotland?"
Scotland didn't let go; instead, the hand gripping her shoulder tightened, still carrying that cold, indifferent smile.
"You broke my leg, don't you feel any remorse?"
"Is Qin the one who should feel guilty? He's the one who dragged you into this mess to take the bullet."
Scotland pursed his lips. He was half a head taller than Black Cherry and could see the top of her golden head, where her long hair flowed smoothly down, shimmering with a molten gold light in the sunlight.
Is this child... even an adult?
He couldn't find out Black Cherry's age, only that she held a high position and must have grown up in the organization.
Second-generation gangster?
For Gin to tolerate him like that, he must be some kind of relative, right?
Compared to the dangerous Gin, Black Cherry, while giving him a somewhat violent first impression, was ultimately much safer.
So Scotland curled his lips into a smirk and deliberately threatened in her ear, "I don't care, you're the one who hurt me, shouldn't you give me some compensation?"
Takanashi Chika paused, then suddenly asked, "Is your leg all better now?"
"He's almost fully recovered."
“That means it’s not fully healed yet.” Takanashi Chika said excitedly, leaning back abruptly and kicking hard at the spot where Scotland had injured his left leg six months ago.
"Hmm."
The pressure on Chizuru's hands loosened slightly.
Without hesitation, Takanashi Chika was about to elbow him, but Scotland reacted quickly and blocked it.
She had taken the opportunity to turn around and could see the pain hidden on Scotland's face. His body was leaning against the wall, and his injured leg, which had been kicked hard, was trembling slightly.
“You provoked me first, Scotland.” Takanashi Chinatsu took several steps back, maintaining a safe distance from the man in front of her.
"I just want some compensation from you, Black Cherry. Do you want my life?" Her voice was a little hoarse. Scotland's left hand unconsciously rested on her right leg, her muscles tense, and she stared warily at Takanashi Chinatsu.
Chika twirled a long strand of hair between her fingers and said matter-of-factly, "Dragging a girl into an empty alley like that is obviously malicious. I was just protecting myself."
“Now it’s you who hurt me, twice.” Scotland raised his right hand and held up two fingers at her.
"You're trying to bully me, but you're no match for me."
"Isn't the word 'bully' ambiguous?"
"No." Takanashi Chika curled her lips and looked towards the other side of the alley.
A chill ran down Scotland's spine. He had just made eye contact with the figure standing at the alley entrance when he was struck by a bullet fired from the muzzle of a gun, letting out a muffled groan.
The bullet landed on his shoulder, not fatal, but then the muzzle was pressed against Scotland's forehead.
Despite it being springtime, the visitor was wearing a heavy black overcoat, which seemed to be carrying wind and snow, making the Scottish man's hair stand on end from the cold.
With a "thud," Scotland's head slammed heavily against the wall as the black muzzle of a gun was pressed against him, and he didn't even dare to straighten up.
"He's faking it; his leg is fine now." Gin glanced at Takanashi Chinatsu indifferently.
Chinatsuka Takanashi was taken aback and subconsciously looked at Scotland's legs. The legs, which had been trembling slightly just now, were no longer trembling, but were tense and made as if trying to fight back. However, Gin forced her to make no move at all by holding a gun to his throat.
But Chinatsu Takanashi was still unconvinced, as if she was born to be at odds with Gin, and retorted directly: "Mind your own business, I'm happy to be fooled by him!"
"Fool." Gin ignored Takanashi Chinatsu, a cold glint flashing deep in his green eyes as he revealed a chilling killing intent towards Scotland.
"You wouldn't kill someone in front of me, would you, Gin?"
Scotland clearly sensed that Gin's breathing became momentarily disordered when Takanashi Chika uttered those words.
But Gin quickly regained his composure.
"I don't care. You've already killed someone in front of me, so I don't mind if you kill a second one. Besides, this person has nothing to do with me." Takanashi Chinatsu's eyes revealed a hint of sarcasm.
She was like a hedgehog with its feathers standing on end, especially in front of Gin, where she stood up all her sharp quills, not only to protect herself from being hurt by Gin, but also with a kind of resentment that wanted to rush up and take Gin down with her.
Despite facing a life-threatening crisis, Scotland still couldn't help but speculate. Judging from Black Cherry's words, the first person Gin killed in front of her was related to her.
Friends? Family?
Scotland didn't know, and he didn't dare to ask. Faced with Gin's death threat, he could only suppress all his thoughts and beg for Gin's forgiveness in a humble and submissive manner.
“I didn’t mean to hurt him, Gin. We just happened to meet on the street and I was a little curious, so I started chatting.”
Gin did not put down his gun.
Before Scotland could say anything more, Chizuru Takanashi stepped forward and snatched the Beretta away.
"Have you had enough? What are you putting on an act for? Or are you going to kill everyone around me?!" Holding Gin's Beretta, Takanashi Chinatsu pointed it at Gin's head and rebuked him sharply.
“It’s dangerous.” Gin gently pushed her hand away.
Scotland's breath almost stopped; Gin could actually tolerate someone pointing a gun at his head and simply pushing it away.
Chinatsu Takanashi retorted sarcastically, "You think it's dangerous with a gun pointed at your head, but wouldn't it be dangerous with a gun pointed at Scottish Frye's head? He's my friend. What we do in the alley is none of your business! What right do you have to interfere in my affairs!"
“This is the second time you’ve met.” Gin could tell clearly.
“I liked him from the second time we met. He’s not like heartless people like you; at least he wouldn’t kill my family in front of me!”
Gin pursed his lips, and after a moment, he took the gun from Takanashi Chika and put it away, then handed her a card.
"Here's the supplementary card I promised you. Take it." Gin said, giving Scotland a warning look before turning and leaving.
The shadow of death gradually faded, and the sky cleared up again.
Scotland clutched his bruised shoulder, his eyes fixed on the bank card—Gin's… supplementary card?
"What's your relationship with Gin?" he asked tentatively.
Takanashi Chinatsu casually put the card into her pocket, her tone indifferent: "Him? Just a useless ex-boyfriend."
