Chapter 17 Retribution: Who Dares to Offend Lucky Max?

Chapter 17 Retribution: Who Dares to Offend Lucky Max?

Scotland's voice was flat and fast: "Gin has been pursuing Black Cherry in the organization and has assigned me to be her long-term babysitter. If I do nothing, I'm afraid I'll be stuck in that position forever. Today, Black Cherry invited me to pretend to be her boyfriend."

The amount of information was overwhelming; the data was almost bursting at Bourbon's brain.

His words, however, slipped out while he was processing the information: "This is dangerous."

"It's very likely that I'll offend Gin, but Black Cherry should be confident that Gin won't make a move against me."

“She’s not trustworthy,” Bourbon replied even faster.

“You haven’t met her, Bourbon. In my opinion, she’s highly credible. She’s only 19, and her demeanor is completely different from the organization’s overall atmosphere. She’s like an ordinary college student with a social circle like ordinary people. I’m guessing she’s a second-generation member of the organization’s criminal family.”

"Don't believe her, Hiro!" Bourbon ignored his childhood friend, his voice icy cold beneath his mask: "Even if she's a second-generation mobster from the organization, she can't possibly influence Gin. Although there have always been rumors within the organization that Gin is pursuing Black Cherry, it's just a rumor after all. Nobody knows Gin's true feelings towards her. What if Gin disregards her feelings and attacks you..."

“I’ve seen it.” Scotland’s words silenced Bourbon.

He had witnessed Gin's attitude toward Black Cherry twice.

Bourbon was actually involved in the mission when he first met Black Cherry, but he was in charge of the intelligence part. Although Scotland mentioned it to Bourbon later, neither of them was able to find out the details of Black Cherry at the time.

“Just because Gin can’t do anything to Black Cherry doesn’t mean he wouldn’t dare do anything to you,” Bourbon insisted.

“Gin tried to kill me the other day, but Black Cherry stopped him.” Scotland was referring to his second meeting with Black Cherry.

If it weren't for Black Cherry, Gin might have really killed him; the killing intent he felt back then was definitely real.

Black Cherry said they were friends, and Gin really didn't target him anymore.

Gin has always regarded black cherry as the ultimate standard.

“Black Cherry holds a high position in the organization, and I will join her forces in the future.” Scotland had clearly figured it out; it wasn’t just an invitation for him to pretend to be her lover, but rather Black Cherry’s generous offer to him.

"Hiro, you need to think this through! What if..."

“I’ve made up my mind, Zero,” Scotland interrupted him.

For the first time, Bourbon finally turned his gaze to his childhood friend. Under the cover of his hood, his thin lips were pressed together, and his blue eyes revealed determination.

Although Hiro is very mild-mannered, once he makes a decision, it is difficult for anyone to change it, a fact that Bourbon is well aware of.

But... it's very dangerous.

Regardless of the circumstances, this is a gamble with one's life. If Gin were to recklessly attack Hiro, given Gin's position in the organization, his childhood friend would be powerless to resist.

Is it really wise to tie yourself so tightly to a 19-year-old girl?

Saying that she's different from the rest of the organization, Black Cherry is a second-generation gangster. Even if she's younger and looks naive, who can guarantee that she doesn't have a black heart? Maybe she doesn't care about Hiro's life or death at all, and is just deliberately using him as a scapegoat to make Gin jealous.

Bourbon was powerless to stop it. Hiro's visit today was not to discuss anything with him, but to inform him of the impending changes.

"I will do my best to find out about Black Cherry and send you a copy as soon as possible."

“It’s best not to,” Scotland said calmly. “You were already warned before you investigated her, so you’d better not do anything.”

Bourbon clenched his fist in his pocket. He opened his mouth as if to retort, but in the end, he could only say, "I understand."

The two met in the darkness and parted ways in the darkness, each going their own way, but they had already agreed to meet again in the light at the end of the road.

In the early morning, there was still a three-layered bento box, and Scotland was still smiling gently.

"But I don't have class today, it's Saturday."

Scotland pulled out her other hand, revealing another three-tiered bento box, and said with a smile, "So I brought two today."

Chizuru is surprised.

How about we go on a picnic?

"Sure, would you mind if I brought a friend?" Takanashi Chinatsu was eager to try it out, planning to call Yukito and Touya out to play, and if Sakura was free, she could come along too.

"I'd also like to talk to you about what we discussed yesterday."

She put her phone away again, and Takanashi Chinatsu nodded, understanding that the rest of the time was for private conversation.

The two laid out a mat on the grass. The mat was bigger than the one used at school, so that they could not only sit on it, but also lie down on it.

Takanashi Chika lay on a soft mat, smiling as she watched the birds fly by from time to time. The early cherry blossoms had begun to fall, while the late cherry blossoms were just beginning to bloom. Right next to them was a late cherry blossom in full bloom.

There were many tourists around, and some lively children kicked the tree trunk, but their strength was too weak and only a few cherry blossoms fell.

A cherry blossom landed right on Takanashi Chika's nose, and Scottish smiled and brushed it away.

"Dating a beautiful woman is never a bad thing. Even if there's a sword of Damocles hanging over your head, there will always be people willing to go for it." Scotland slowly revealed his decision, twirling a cherry blossom.

Chinatsu Takanashi wasn't surprised that he made such a decision. How could an ambitious person be content to be a chef for the rest of his life?

"It seems you called Gin."

"He's so awful. He actually told me to just cook for you obediently and not to think about anything else." Scotland sat on the cushion, hands behind his back, looking up at the sky helplessly to express his disappointment.

This is really bad; Gin's words have completely driven him to a dead end.

He understood Bourbon's concerns, but he also knew he had no other choice. He was there to organize the undercover agents, not to be a cook.

“He was so heartless to me, so of course I have to repay him.” Scotland grabbed Kotori Chika’s hand, pulled her up with a force, and then embraced her.

Takanashi Chinatsu was somewhat surprised. She struggled for a moment but couldn't break free. She couldn't help but ask in a low voice, "Hey, what are you doing? Gin isn't here right now."

"Even though he's not here, you're already my girlfriend, right?"

Takanashi Chinatsu's eyes widened. "Huh?"

“I clearly said…”

"What do you mean by pretending? If Gin kills me, wouldn't I have become a mere pawn in your game for nothing? So, Chinatsu-chan, you have to let me collect some interest first." Scotland probed Takanashi Chinatsu's bottom line step by step.

Being held by a man she barely knew, especially noticing his overwhelming strength, made Takanashi Chika panic. "Calm down! You don't want to offend Gin and then me, right? I'll tell Gin that he wouldn't dare kill you, he wouldn't dare hurt my friend!"

“But I’m your boyfriend, that’s different.” Their noses were almost touching.

A faint scent of cedar wafts through the air; Scotland has specially applied perfume today.

"Same here, he would never dare!" Takanashi Chinatsu was still struggling to break free, and she was starting to feel genuinely anxious. Had she unwittingly invited a wolf into her house? If she screamed now, would she accidentally send Scotland to the police station? Her goal was definitely not to send Scotland to the police station.

Soon, Takanashi Chinatsu's inner turmoil vanished, and she let out a loud scream.

"Ah, a snake—"

A snake fell from a cherry tree and landed right on Scotland's head, its cool tail dangling into his collar.

Scotland's reaction was quick enough, but he never expected "justice to fall from the sky." It was completely unprepared. Just as he grabbed the snake's head, the obviously venomous spotted snake had already bitten his neck.

"Don't move! It's poisonous!" Although Takanashi Chinatsu was afraid of snakes, she quickly warned her and dialed the emergency number.

The snake writhed in Scotland's hand, its tail slowly coiling around his arm.

"Put it here first, stuff it in here!" Takanashi Chika hurriedly opened the bento box, took out the bento inside, and carefully held the empty box over, her hands even trembling slightly.

Scotland sighed helplessly, took the lunchbox, stuffed the snake inside and covered it, then frowned and touched the bite mark on his neck.

The hole isn't big, but it might be poisonous, so it's best to avoid strenuous exercise.

"I'm so sorry, Scotland," Chinatsu explained somewhat apologetically. "I was a little scared of you just now, which is why you got bitten by the snake..."

Scotland, pressing his lunchbox, gave a wry smile upon hearing this and said self-deprecatingly, "You mean, I'm getting my comeuppance for what I did to you just now?"

"Ah..." Takanashi Chinatsu looked up at the sky.

Who knows?

In short, because she is so lucky, whenever she genuinely feels panic or encounters danger, those who oppress her will suffer misfortune.

But we can't entirely blame her, after all, she struggled and resisted; it was Scotland that refused to let her go.

As expected of the organization's elite, they tried to bully men and oppress women, but Scotland ran right into a brick wall!
