Chapter 59: A Good Horse Never Turns Back
In the horse farm, Zhao Mingzhu was holding a dogtail grass in her mouth, staring at the blue sky in a daze.
"What are you thinking about? I called you several times but you didn't answer."
An Yun rode a maroon horse, pulled the reins and stopped in front of Zhao Mingzhu.
Zhao Mingzhu said softly.
An Yun scratched her ears, suspecting she had misheard, and repeated loudly:
"Are you saying that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince might like you?!"
Zhao Mingzhu: “…”
Some people around had already looked over, and Zhao Mingzhu gritted her teeth and pulled An Yun down.
She approached An Yun and said, "Shut up, little mouth!"
An Yun looked somewhat innocent. She realized it later and whispered, the two of them were like thieves:
"What did you eat today?"
Zhao Mingzhu was absent-minded in answering this inexplicable question, but she still answered:
"White porridge, almond pastry, and Liubiju pickles."
An Yun frowned, unwilling to give up: "What about last night?"
Zhao Mingzhu said three bowls of wontons.
"Then I understand."
"You've eaten so much wonton that you've become stupid, that's why you're talking nonsense." An Yun suddenly realized.
Zhao Mingzhu's forehead twitched, and she smirked, "That is to say, why didn't I think of this?"
An Yun put her hands behind her back and shook her head. "It's okay, I just remembered... hey, my ear fell off."
Zhao Mingzhu grabbed An Yun's ears and twisted them left and right: "Who's been stretched silly, huh?"
An Yun quickly begged for mercy: "I was wrong, I was wrong, I was talking nonsense, I was talking nonsense, isn't that enough!"
"snort."
Zhao Mingzhu let go and walked side by side with her, leading the horse into the stable.
"I'm just not sure, so I wanted to ask for your perspective as an outsider so I can adjust my mindset."
She had already convinced herself of her last illusion, but today when Gu Qingheng moved into the main hall, she felt an inexplicable sense of crisis.
The place where people sleep is extremely private, but she didn't realize that Gu Qingheng's bed was just separated from her by a screen.
This feeling was so strange that it was hard for her not to think too much.
Plus the vague weird feeling from before.
After hearing this, An Yun touched her chin and asked, "Has His Royal Highness the Crown Prince expressed his affection for you?"
"That's not the case." Zhao Mingzhu said affirmatively.
"He only said things like husband and wife are one."
"Don't listen to such words, they are just polite remarks." An Yun felt that this was based on her experience of liking Bai Mu for many years.
"I don't think His Royal Highness the Crown Prince likes you. When I liked Bai Mu, everyone in the capital knew about it. You can't hide your love for someone; others can see it at a glance."
"After all, he and you are married, so it's normal for you to sleep together. Besides, Mingzhu, you are so beautiful, any man would be moved."
An Yun stopped talking and muttered, "The ghost is still there."
Zhao Mingzhu was just suspicious at first, but An Yun's words made sense. However, Gu Qingheng should not be lusting after her body... The doubts in her heart were quickly suppressed.
Not far ahead, Bai Mu and Su Lu were talking in low voices.
This time, Bai Mu saw An Yun first. He said something to Su Lu, and then strode towards An Yun.
"Don't look for me, don't look for me, don't look for me..." An Yun kept praying.
The prayer failed, and Bai Mu stopped in front of the two of them, or to be precise, in front of An Yun.
He said to Zhao Mingzhu, "Miss Zhao, can you let me talk to An Yun alone?"
Zhao Mingzhu looked at An Yun, who grabbed her and said impatiently:
"No, I won't allow it. If you have something to say, say it quickly. If you want to teach me a lesson, hold it in."
She was tired of listening to Bai Mu's non-stop chatter, and none of it was what she liked to hear.
Bai Mu was a little dazed. When did An Yun treat him with such an impatient look?
She has always been her own little tail...
The three of them just stood there, perhaps realizing that An Yun wouldn't give him a chance to talk alone.
Bai Mu took out a brocade bag from his arms and poured out the contents.
"One of my servants fished this jade pendant out of the pond. You must have dropped it accidentally, so I brought it to you today."
An Yun stood on tiptoe to look at it, but didn't take it. She said:
"It's gone, I don't want it anymore."
An Yun was concerned about Mrs. Bai. After all, she was really kind to her, so she didn't want to make things too awkward with Bai Mu.
Bai Mu hurriedly said after hearing this: "I remember you said that you couldn't sleep well without this jade pendant..."
"Bai Mu!" An Yun took the jade pendant and said with a smile:
"So you have such a good memory. I told you not to get too close to Su Lu. I was unhappy. You remember that, right?"
"If you don't want to remember, then forget it. Why bother? Now that we've broken off the engagement, let's just be straightforward. If we can avoid seeing each other, then don't see each other. If we can avoid talking, then don't talk. The road is wide open, and it's best for us to go our separate ways."
An Yun felt bored. She didn't think it was a big deal if Bai Muruo kept following Su Lu like a lapdog.
Now Bai Mu's appearances here and there, and sudden reappearances, made her upset.
She was upset, so she needed to find something to vent her anger. She raised her hand and smashed the jade pendant on the flower bed, and the mutton-fat jade pendant instantly shattered into pieces.
Bai Mu's pupils shrank as he looked at the broken jade on the ground. He suddenly remembered that he had been searching for this jade for a long time and had even specially gone to a master sculptor to determine the pattern.
Until now, he still remembered An Yun's joy when she took the jade pendant.
But now, An Yun, who was happy at first, is only annoyed.
Just like she went from liking herself to being disgusted with herself now.
An Yun didn't want to care what the other party thought, and said directly:
"I was the one who threw away this jade pendant. Don't show up in front of me if you don't have anything to do. I thank you and your family."
After she finished speaking, she took Zhao Mingzhu and led the horse away, leaving Bai Mu looking at the jade pendant, not knowing what to think.
"Did I say too much just now?" An Yun whispered to Zhao Mingzhu.
An Yun felt a little sad when she saw the jade pendant again, because she had treated it with care.
I just didn't expect that one day I would be smashed to pieces by her.
"Mingzhu, what do you think he meant by this? I've already done what he wanted."
Zhao Mingzhu simply said, "A good horse never turns back."
An Yun thought for a moment and pointed at her horses: "I think they are eating happily."
Zhao Mingzhu looked back and saw the two horses grazing in a circle, the one in front and the one behind munching voraciously. "...Just pretend I didn't say anything."
Su Lu had been watching from afar. She was going to mediate when Bai Mu and An Yun were arguing, but just as she was about to go over, An Yun left first.
"Brother Bai, are you okay?" Su Lu was a little worried.
Bai Mu came back to his senses, shook his head and said it was okay, then picked up the jade pendant fragments one by one.
Su Lu helped him pick it up: "Is this Miss An's jade pendant?"
"I gave it to her before, but she doesn't want it anymore."
"Then this is Brother Bai's intention. How could Miss An let you down like this? You can't smash it no matter what."
"Don't blame her, it's my fault. Thank you for helping me pick it up." Bai Mu did not agree with her.
In the past, when Su Lu said something bad about An Yun, Bai Mu always agreed with her, but now things have changed.
Su Lu's eyelids twitched, and she smiled with pursed lips: "Yeah, I was one-sided."
