Chapter 147: The Snow-covered Classroom
The classroom in the forest, wooden floors, wooden roofs, wood-grained tables and chairs, the snow outside the window covered the leaves, but the house was still warm.
The long prelude of the ocarina sounded, echoing in this quiet classroom, making people feel like they were in a distant world.
Then the brisk singing and drum beats sounded together, first one, then two, their voices overlapped each other, with a different rhythm in unison, and then two more joined in, more music sounded, there were bells ringing, there were bagpipes blowing, and the resonant harmony was interspersed with the slightly naughty humming of the Elven language, making the whole song more rich and layered.
The students sat or stood, looking around at the five girls in the classroom, some of them closed their eyes and sang with their arms raised, some pressed their hands on their hearts, humming the tune seriously, and some held the bagpipes, raising their fingers from time to time, and rich and graceful music floated out.
The singing was lively and light, as if they were dancing and playing with fairies in the forest. Everyone present was intoxicated. After a long time, the music gradually stopped and everyone applauded to thank the five students for their performance.
"Finally, thank you for coming to enjoy it." The chestnut-haired girl who was leading the class pulled her companions and bowed to thank them. The classroom burst into warm applause again.
"I don't know how to describe it, but it always feels like an unforgettable performance."
"Although there are no gorgeous special effects, the artistic conception in the singing is so rare and clear and bright."
Everyone applauded happily, and their eyes were focused on the five girls.
"Thank you..." Being surrounded and praised by everyone, the five had to thank them again and again, and then smiled.
Finally, at everyone's suggestion, they stood in the middle of the classroom again, surrounded by everyone, and took a group photo. The five girls from left to right were Renata, Bo Ling, Agnes, Heshia, and Bessiemer. The lead singers were Renata and Bo Ling, the drums and bells were Agnes, the ocarina and violin were Heshia, and Bessiemer was the bagpipe.
Three months after entering the Iridium Academy, this small temporary group was established at Agnes's suggestion and with the help of others. After a week of practice, they invited classmates to watch their performance on this day.
Whether it was the performers or the audience, they didn't think about making it very formal at the beginning. It was probably just an experimental or fun performance, but in the end the unexpected effect was good, beyond the expectations of both parties.
"Very happy~(*^▽^*)" Some students took photos while asking the five people to sign.
After the performance, some students volunteered to take the video back and edit it. After that, everyone went to play in the snow and climb mountains. They chased each other from time to time along the way. Many people had snow all over their heads and faces. They looked embarrassed, but they kept laughing and talking. They walked back together until it got dark.
This was an ordinary day without any surprises, but perhaps many years later, when one of them stood in front of the window at dusk and looked at the shadows of the trees outside, they would find that it was the happiest and most worry-free day in their memory.
After the party, Heshia stood under the street light in the snow, waved to the familiar classmates not far away, and then walked towards the distant hills with Mel beside her. It
was very quiet along the way, as if the sound was absorbed by the snow, and only the sizzling sound of the snowflakes under their feet could be heard.
After walking for a while, Mel's speed became slower and slower, and finally he couldn't help but whispered, "Can we take a break for a while?"
"Ah, yes." Heshia stopped. She was actually thinking about something just now, so she didn't notice Mel's situation.
The two stopped at the roadside. A "meow" sound came from Mel's chest, and then a gray kitten poked its head out, with big eyes curiously looking at the situation outside.
"Little gray~" Mel touched the kitten's head lovingly, and smiled at Heshia with a slightly red face. She was wearing a thick down jacket at the moment, and the whole thing looked fluffy.
"Go sit over there for a while." Heshia pointed to the pavilion not far away, and then the two walked over.
Sweeping off the snow on the seat with their hands, the two looked at the snow scene and the street reflected by the street lights outside, with a rare quietness.
"Come to think of it, this is my first time to spend the winter on the ground." The girl stretched out her palm and looked at the small snowflakes falling in her hand.
"Where did Heshia live before?" Mel asked with her head tilted.
"She lived in an underground city. There are many such cities in the North Seventh District, and many of them were built during the war."
"Is it warm underground? When I was a child, I wanted to be a big hamster. I would prepare a lot of nuts and snacks in my cellar. Then when winter comes, I would not go anywhere. I would just lie in the hole underground, eat and sleep. I felt that kind of life was so happy~" Mel said with a little joy, as if she was a child who had not grown up yet, but she was indeed only 16 years old, not very old.
"It's warmer underground, and you don't have to worry about the cold." Heshia thought about it and didn't say anything that broke the fantasy.
"If there is such an isolated place, it would be a happy thing." She nodded slightly.
"Heshia thinks the same as me, right? Yes, it's true~" Mel was particularly happy to see the girl agree.
"It's just that my brother has been laughing at me since he was a child, saying that I only know how to eat, drink and sleep, hum." Mel rubbed the kitten's head with his hand, as if he still remembered the things from his childhood.
After hearing this, the girl couldn't help but laugh, and then asked, "What about your brother now?"
"He went to a military academy, saying that he wanted to become a strong fighter pilot." Mel said with a little pride.
"Does your family agree?" Heshia knew that Mel was definitely a rich woman, and her family must not be short of money.
"Mom was very opposed, afraid that he would have an accident, but Dad didn't think much of it, and finally helped him and convinced Mom."
"Do what you want to do and become a real man, that's what Dad said."
"Meow~" When Mel was talking, the gray kitten jumped out while she was not paying attention.
"Little Gray, it's cold outside, don't run around~" Mel picked up the gray moon cat with both hands and put it on his knees again to stroke it.
"He is a very open-minded father." The girl sighed, then leaned back in the chair, looking at the snowy night sky, and unconsciously thought of the things at home in the past.
Forget it, forget it, let's not recall it. As soon as she remembered a little, she shook her head and interrupted this idea.
It's agreed that we won't recall those past events now.
After sitting for a while, Heshia stood up, shook off the snow on her body, and then looked back at Mel.
"Have you rested?"
"Yes, I have." Then Mel picked up the gray moon cat and followed the girl. The two stepped into the road in the snow again.
In the distance of the road under their feet, three tall towers stood on the hill, reflecting different lights, like a small castle in a fairy tale.
One day, they will say goodbye to the fairy tales of their childhood, and one day, they will meet the dreams in their hearts.
