Chapter 208 Maids, Nobles, and Kings

Victory is within reach!

It's not difficult at all.

Walking slowly like a maid who has just finished her work, Shirin's gaze swept over the surrounding rooms.

"According to what the head maid and the other maids just said, this is the rest room for the guests attending the banquet..."

Unlike the maid's quarters, the difference is evident even from the material of the door.

The door is carved with ornate patterns, and the doorknob gleams with a silvery-white metallic sheen.

Those who are able to stay here are not ordinary minor nobles; they must be highly favored guests or of sufficiently high status.

Distinguished guest...

"Speaking of which, what happened to those two little ones in the end?"

With her escape so close, Shirin relaxed a little. She thought of the "culprit" who had put her in this miserable situation.

Those two descendants of nobles.

"In the end, they must have been quite popular with the king, right?"

Recalling Sophie's serious expression as she uttered those "prophecies," Shirin shook her head.

"I can only say, as expected of the nobility, they really can tell such lies with their eyes wide open."

"To dare to make up a prophecy based on just some uncertain clues is really quite audacious."

She is a woman with many ideas and great courage.

But Shirin didn't really like her.

Shirin doesn't like people who lie to her, as it makes her feel insecure.

“Someone like Ning Feng would never tell such a lie; he is always so honest and trustworthy.”

Remembering the real reason she came here, Shirin's disguised face softened.

She chuckled softly and murmured to herself:

"Wait for me, I'm coming to find you."

I must find you!

Otherwise, wouldn't I be unable to tell you about all the grievances I've suffered?

...

...

In the room where Shirin passed by, Anthony, with bandages on his feet, sat on a stool, repeatedly raising and lowering his legs, getting used to his body.

"The bandaging technique is really bad; their medical skills are really inadequate."

As he familiarized himself with the stinging sensation, he moved his white pieces while complaining.

Before he could retract his hand, the bishop he had just moved was eaten back by Sophie!

"ah!"

Anthony's expression was one of utter schadenfreude; he looked at his fiancée, who was reclining on the chaise lounge, with a conflicted expression, and protested:

"Don't you even need to think?!"

Without even glancing at Anthony, Sophie flipped through her book, her eyes darting rapidly across the pages, and said upon hearing this:

"I haven't really thought about how to deal with you, after all..."

They stopped there, the implication being that it didn't need further explanation.

Anthony: ?

Enraged, Antony expelled his king, saying in grief and indignation:

"We can't play like this."

Sophie paused in turning the page, thought for a moment, and said:

"Can't play anymore? Or can you? After all, my actual chess skills aren't that much better than yours."

Anthony: ?

Looking down, Anthony saw his miserable situation, with only five pieces left after his defeat, and the stark difference in strength between his opponent, who had almost no casualties.

Oh, this.

His lips twitched, and he protested in a low voice:

"You're humiliating me!"

Please, have some decency!

In response to Anthony's protest, Sophie simply said:

"Really, I just have a good intuition."

Intuition...it's intuition again.

Anthony recalled the scene from before, and still felt a chill run down his spine. He couldn't help but say:

"...You really went crazy last night."

Based on just these few vague hints, Sophie dared to spout nonsense in front of that terrifying Skeleton King.

The curse of the Tarot has descended; the twenty-two cards, representing mysteries, are scattered throughout this kingdom.

Following them were hundreds of crazed apostles.

They have already awakened within the bodies of mortals, taken control of their minds and bodies, and are hiding among the crowd, waiting for their opportunity.

In their struggle for power, they will bring bloodshed and fire, pain and death to this country.

But do not worry, the valiant king will end all of this.

That's a legend. Even at his peak, Anthony wasn't confident he could handle it, let alone the fact that he had been poisoned by a deadly poison due to carelessness.

In that situation, if Sophie had said just one wrong word, they would have faced an irrecoverable and tragic fate.

It was torn apart by hundreds of undead and immediately exited the battlefield.

But Sophie did it anyway, without hesitation.

And it actually worked!

“No, your Jasmine family has always been like this… daring to take risks.”

Although Sophie's actions last night seemed very risky, Anthony has to admit that it was actually very much in line with the Jaslin family's style.

This is so Jasmine!

To outsiders, Jasmine's family has always seemed like gambling prodigies, perpetually winning gamblers.

Are you really sure those "prophecies" you've made will come true?

*Smack*

After finishing the last page of the book, Sophie gently closed it, shut her eyes, and shifted her position, saying:

"Yes, and this is not my intuition, but a simple guess."

“You saw those scenes on our way here yesterday. Those injured contestants certainly won’t give up.”

Anthony was about to say something, but then he seemed to remember something and frowned thoughtfully.
