Chapter 210 The Shady Merchant and the Eccentric

“You’re absolutely right, and I’m happy to pay that fee.”

Both of them were beaming with smiles, their relationship as warm as that of old friends who hadn't seen each other for years.

With the emotional foundation that Ning Feng had built with money, the shop owner warmly stepped out from behind the counter and personally led the three of them toward the room.

Having made a fortune off them, the shop owner didn't mention the cost of horse feed, and instead said, feigning generosity:

"You must have had a long and tiring journey here! Don't worry, I'll have someone take care of your horses."

As he spoke, his gaze swept over the sack on Rod's back, and he asked with some curiosity:

"Oh? What are you carrying on your back?"

Rhodes paused, pondering how to explain, when he heard Ning Feng, who was walking ahead, casually say:

"I plan to take some local specialties that I found in the mountains to the capital to exchange for some money."

Rhodes: ...Specialty products?

He wanted to say something, but after thinking about it, he felt that Ning Feng's words seemed to make sense.

"Ah, wait a moment, let me go and make arrangements with the kitchen first."

As they turned the corner, the boss abandoned Ning Feng and the others and headed straight for the kitchen.

"If you can't wait, your rooms are two connected rooms at the end of the corridor after you go upstairs. Just walk straight ahead."

Holding the two keys, Ning Feng thought for a moment and said to his companion and the tool:

"Let's go first. I'm a little tired. Let's go inside and rest for a bit."

Both he and Rod's bodies could hold up, but Chu Yu was clearly not a physically strong person.

But just as Ning Feng and the others were about to go upstairs, a hoarse voice came from the shadows around the corner:

"Hello!"

Um!

?

Rod's relaxed state of mind suddenly tightened, and he abruptly looked towards the shadows.

Hidden in the shadows was a figure wrapped in tattered rags, lying prone on the ground, its head tilted back, staring intently at the three.

Looking at the other person's attire, Rod frowned and muttered:

"beggar?"

A beggar?

Ning Feng didn't think this strange man was just a beggar.

"Don't be fooled by them...don't be fooled by them!"

Sure enough, the eccentric figure exuding an aura of madness straightened up, glared at Ning Feng and the other two, and said quickly in a low voice:

"They were all deceived by the king's lies!"

"He's not a wise king, Lai Enhart is a madman!"

"He is not God's chosen one... No, no, no! God is a lie! It's all a lie!"

!

A strange man, reeking of an indescribable stench and wrapped in tattered rags, took a step toward the group.

Perhaps because he had been lying down for too long, his legs were not flexible and he staggered.

Frowning at the stench emanating from him and taking a step back, Rhodes spoke with disgust:

"Don't come any closer."

But the strange man ignored him and continued to stride forward, heading towards Ning Feng, the only one of the three who did not retreat.

"Hey! Can't you hear me? I said..."

Silently raising his hand, Ning Feng silently stopped Rhodes from stepping forward.

After being stopped, Rod instinctively asked:

"What are you trying to do... Why are you stopping me?"

But before Rhodes could finish speaking, the rest of his words were cut off by Ning Feng's nonchalant glance back.

!

!

At that moment, Rhodes suddenly remembered his current status and position.

As a partner who failed the test and was forced to "join forces," I have no right to give orders...

Rhodes: "…………"

Rod's cheek twitched, and he turned his head away, no longer looking into Ning Feng's calm, deep black eyes.

snort.

Fine, I'll just give up!

After Luo De wisely shut up, Ning Feng silently withdrew his gaze and continued to look at the anomaly before him.

Ning Feng showed no disgust in his eyes, nor did he furrow his brow because of the stench emanating from the other person.

They neither spoke nor went far away.

He just watched quietly as the strange man approached and fell down in his anxiety.

Without offering a helping hand, Ning Feng looked down at the strange man kneeling before him, letting him grab the hem of his clothes.

"Outsider! Leave this place, leave this place, you must leave this place!"

Trembling, the strange man raised his head and stared intently at Ning Feng, as if he had seen a glimmer of hope.

"Everything here is a lie! Everyone's gone mad!"

The eyes peeking out from the tattered clothes, eyes filled with fear and madness, were now gradually welling with murky tears.

"Otherwise... you'll become one of them, blinded, and end up with nothing! Nothing..."

The strange man roared, trying to say something, but was interrupted by a loud noise.

Bang!

!

The loud noise startled Chu Yu. She panicked and quickly reached for her waist bag while cautiously looking in the direction from which the sound came.

The innkeeper, who had just been all smiles because he'd made an extra "small amount of money," now had a face full of rage and fury, pounding on the wall and roaring at the strange man:

"Hello!

"You damned beggar, how did you sneak in again?! Get out!"

He strode over and grabbed the strange man by the collar, lifting him up.

"Get out of here!"

The strange man, who had been captured, didn't resist. He immediately released Ning Feng and cried out loudly:

"Dead! Everyone is dead!"

The piercing sound was filled with despair and madness, sending chills down one's spine.

"You! You're all dead!"
