Chapter 238 [The Prophet]

[The Prophet]?

Being watched by the stargazers, Ning Feng found the way she addressed him rather strange.

Was she addressing me?

Am I a prophet?

!

!

Dongdong.

The original body, which remained in place, suddenly widened its eyes, and its heart skipped a beat.

The unfamiliar name stirred something within Ning Feng.

What does this feel like?

Ning Feng was certain he had never heard of the name before, but for some reason it felt familiar at this moment.

It seemed that this name had echoed in his ears countless times, so many that he could not forget it.

Even if there is no trace of it in my memory, it has already left a deep imprint on my soul.

This name is etched permanently into my soul.

It cannot be changed.

Am I a prophet?

But I have never shown any prophetic talent!

When Ning Feng heard the term "prophet," his first thought was of those prophetic spellcasters who used divination magic to try to glimpse fate.

That kind of title is more fitting for those who try to find an uncertain future in the long river of fate.

Why do stargazers consider themselves prophets?

It doesn't match at all; I'm not even a spellcaster.

At most, he has a sixth sense, but otherwise he has no connection to prophecy.

I don't understand...

Observing Ning Feng's reaction silently, the Stargazer nodded and then said:

"Judging from your expression, you don't seem to understand the meaning of this title."

meaning?

Ning Feng really couldn't imagine what other meaning this straightforward title, which revealed the essence of things, could have.

"The Prophet is different from the prophetic spellcasters you are familiar with; he can do much more."

"He is a man freer than the gods; his destiny is not on the chessboard of the gods."

All living beings are subject to destiny; birth, aging, sickness, and death are inescapable.

Even gods cannot escape the shackles of fate; they too will fall and, like mortals, will be unable to change the control of destiny.

The gods, who are superior to mortals, place all living beings on a chessboard as their pieces, and throw dice to decide their fate.

However, there will always be special circumstances.

There is a different kind of person; they are born as if they have leaped out of the river of fate.

They are not subject to the observation of prophetic spells, and their future is forever a mystery.

Their existence is undetectable by the gods, they cannot be controlled, and they cannot become pawns in their hands.

"The path of destiny is laid bare before the prophet; he will always find the right path."

"A prophet is someone who is truly favored by the world and given hope by it."

Ning Feng remained silent in response to the stargazer's explanation.

The stargazer had no reason to deceive Ning Feng, but Ning Feng did not intend to accept her words entirely; he held some doubts about them.

If the prophet were truly as free and powerful as she claimed, she certainly wouldn't be an unknown figure.

Why have I never heard their story before?

Seeing through Ning Feng's thoughts, the Stargazer spoke calmly:

"And regarding the 'prophet,' here is an example you may have heard of."

"In the darkest of times, there was a man who led everyone to find hope in despair."

Um?

The Dark Ages were a tragic era, but times create heroes, and many legendary figures emerged.

However, Ning Feng reacted to the word "everyone" in the stargazer's words, a word that cannot be used casually.

"His parents were commodity slaves kept by slave traders, and he was branded as a slave from birth."

"When he was a child, he successfully led all the slaves to rebel against the slave traders, liberating those who had never been free from the beginning and giving them their own names and dignity."

"After that, he led this group of people on a journey through the world under the watchful eyes of the gods, trying to escape their pursuit."

“From the initial few hundred people, to several thousand... more and more people followed him, making the escape increasingly difficult.”

"Pursuit by divine creations, malice from extraordinary creatures, harsh environments and perilous locations..."

The stargazer described in a calm tone everything those people had gone through, including the despair and pain they felt at the time.

She spoke quietly, narrating from the perspective of an observer.

Gradually, Ning Feng saw a truly realistic scene before his eyes, a hellish place that left him feeling utterly powerless.

Hell on earth.

"But even in the worst circumstances, he never abandoned anyone."

"Even in the face of battles between gods, he can find a safe way out in the endless bloody path."

"He is the prophet people talk about, the one who has never made a mistake."

"And so they traveled and gathered companions along the way. When their numbers reached 20,000, they finally had their own name, a name given to them by others—the Society of Prophets."

"And he, the leader who constantly leads everyone forward, is known as the [Prophet].

[Prophets and Seers]...

Ning Feng remained silent, wondering why someone with such a name had left absolutely no information about them.

This is unreasonable.

If the stargazer wasn't lying, then such a person was undoubtedly one of the brightest stars in human history.
