With a slight frown, Andrew immediately recognized the person who had come to him.
Ning Feng.
Why did the champion, who should have been enjoying all the praise he had won, end up with the loser at this moment?
Is this a show-off?
Is it an attempt to display the composure of a victor in front of the loser?
Or is it to display some false kindness to create a persona for themselves?
Turning his head to the side, Andrew hadn't even had a chance to see Ning Feng's expression when he was suddenly jolted back by Ning Feng's sharp retort.
? ? ?
"It's really too lonely to watch the sea alone."
He subconsciously took the wine glass that was handed to him, and when he looked up, he saw Ning Feng's expression.
"Have a drink with me."
Ning Feng acted as if he had simply escaped from a complicated social scene and was just looking for someone who shared his misfortune to have a drink with.
There was no smugness, nor any repulsive pity; he simply smiled calmly.
Ning Feng walked over to Andrew as if they were old friends, and leaned against the railing, gazing into the distance.
Looking at the sea, which had turned fiery red in the twilight sunlight, he began to speak directly:
"I've never liked these kinds of occasions, even though I'm not bad at them, I've never enjoyed them."
"Although I received a lot of training in the past, which gave me enough knowledge to know when to say what, I still don't like it."
Some things can't be made easier and happier just because you know how to solve them.
Don't understand?
The simplest example is a math problem.
You know which formula to use for the derivation, and you know where to pay attention; you are clear about all of this.
but!
The process of solving problems is torture; one wrong step and the whole thing is wrong. Only by being extremely careful can you have a chance to experience the joy of finally solving the problem.
Oh right, and don't forget to write down the explanation!
Um?
Andrew didn't know what Ning Feng wanted to do by bringing up this topic, and he couldn't figure out what he wanted to express.
If it were someone else, or at another time, Andrew wouldn't mind chatting with Ning Feng a little longer, but he wasn't in a good mood right now.
So, he frowned and asked directly, with a hint of coldness:
"Is this all you came here to talk about? If you have something to say, just say it. I'd like to be alone for a while longer."
There's no need for insincere comfort; just speak your mind.
I don't need your pity.
His expression didn't show any embarrassment. Ning Feng, who had been interrupted, didn't seem to have the arrogance he displayed in the match at all. Instead, he tilted his head and said:
"Don't tell me you think I'm pitying you?"
!
The two stood by the window, wine glasses in hand, watching the white waves rolling in with the sea breeze. Ning Feng spoke directly about a topic that couldn't be discussed right now.
This suddenly piqued the interest of everyone who had been watching the scene; they were curious about what Ning Feng would do.
Only Shirin, who was dressed up in her finest attire and disguised with a feather mask, smiled as she sipped the fruit wine in her glass.
Only she never doubted Ning Feng's actions.
Seemingly oblivious to the strange atmosphere, Ning Feng looked at the sea, smiled, and shook his head, saying:
"Don't think like that. Don't worry. If I really pity you, I will approach you in a gentler way, instead of just coming over with two glasses of wine."
"I'm very gentle."
As he told jokes that weren't particularly funny, Ning Feng's expression gradually became serious.
“Andrew, perhaps you are resisting this outcome, feeling that you have gained some advantage, or even that you are not qualified.”
"But do you know what? In my opinion, your championship is absolutely genuine; you deserve this title."
Andrew's brow remained furrowed; on the contrary, his expression became even more serious after hearing those words.
What's the meaning?
"At the very end, during the part that the audience can't see, I encountered some spirits."
Ning Feng shifted his gaze from the reddish-golden sea surface to Andrew, looking into his eyes, which were as deep blue as the sea.
“Some people harbor resentment and bitterness towards the world; they are almost a polymer of various negative emotions. Their thinking is chaotic, and they are filled with anger towards everything in the world, wanting to tear everything apart.”
"But even among these monsters, there is one person they treat differently."
Ning Feng glanced deeply at Andrew, whose serious expression was gradually crumbling, and nodded with a smile:
"Yes, they are very grateful to you, and I think you know why better than I do, right?"
"You gave them the opportunity for revenge; you saved them."
"You are the one who found the stars in their long night, you are the star chaser."
This is not a lie.
In his final moments, Ning Feng, amidst his dissipating soul, truly sensed a complex and distorted aggregate of souls.
Just as he said, that monstrous aggregate truly felt gratitude towards one person.
Facing the hero who gave them the chance for revenge, facing Andrew.
For those souls, Andrew is the hero who gave them salvation!
Similarly, in mythological epics, heroes are not limited by their origins.
He could be a prince riding a white horse, or a fallen nobleman.
But he could also be the son of a blacksmith, a lowly slave, or a farmer working in the fields.
A hero's origins are irrelevant.
